Frightful: Coming along great so far
BTW: If you haven't seen it yet you might look at Surfsup's build of the IJN Takao for how he painted his model.

I started the main turrets and some small guns. all on the rear deck.
It's XF-9 on the Tamiya website.
What you have looks pretty close to me, maybe the hull red is a little more reddish.
Is it possible to post pictures of the similarity because i want to know if i need to go get the $7 paint but if that is what it needs i will do that.
yay two propellers
dark sea gray is common on this ship
current work to date
Dull red? Hmmmm, I'd think Hull Red should be close. I've got a couple of bottles of brush on Tamiya hull red and it looks like the colour of the hull from paintings.
The paint is Tamiya Hull Red they say to use a spray Dull Red when i got the paint i miss red the instructions.
Great, whatever does the job!
Not sure, the red looks a little dark to me but I'm not sure. If it's what Tamiya says to use it should be right.
Only two holes for the rudders. I did it with a pumpkin carving hole puncher and a cheap knife.
Also what does everyone think of the hull red? Is it accurate to the Yamato?
Frightful: I was going to tell you Doogs has a really good link on how to post photos but looks like you figured it out though so no matter
Super job on the Yamato, dang I want one of those kits but don't have anywhere to put her so I'm enjoying watching you work on yours.
On the drill I agree with Len, they should work pretty well if you're not drilling a great many holes.
Cliff
Thanks but no you cant and i am not in the states.

Frightful6_7 Is there a tool that can be used to the same effect as a pin vise the yamato has no hole in the hull for the rudder.

Can any one explain how to put pictures in the forum i am starting the YAMATO. The pictures wont paste on to the page.
I am taking as much care as possible on this kit. The name stand is going to be semi gloss black with gold lettering this is all i have been able to do so far. The stand alone is six inches long. The kit has thirteen sprues of parts and three non sprueable items (the decks and hull).
Frightful6_7 I haven't started the Yamato (was going to get PE but decided against) but the zero was finshed a couple mmonths ago sorry. I will look for some more Japanese kits. Also how to get badges and show them as this is my first GB.

Sounds good! If you can't finish the Yamato in time no big deal - I'd still like to see how the kit goes together. Let me know what else you come up with, I'm sure we can work something out.
Badges are on the first page, I'm sure someone else can probably explain badges in you sig line better than me though.
Frightful6_7 Also I have a zero that i started and finshed iin december could i add this in too. 1/48 Tamiya A6M3

Oh heck yeah! We've still got six months to go for the GB.
Is the Zero finished though? If either is less than 50% assembled you're more than welcome to enter it.
I know i am a little late to start but what about the IJN Yamato 1/350 Tamiya. (not the new one) Would this be acceptable.
Nice looking job on the natural metal there Bsyamato
I'm going to try to get back to my much delayed Zero when I finish my A-20, she's coming along fine, shouldn't be too long I hope
Looking good bs.
Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom. Peace be with you.
