Bsyamato thanks, the pin wash I use consist of artists oils thinned with lighter fluid . Using a fine brush I touch the panel line and the thinned paint runs into the line by capillary action. The oil base paint does'nt 'attack'  the enamel so you can wipe of the mistakes easily. I also use the oils for weathering and staining areas to simulate oil leaks.

Jason thanks

Decals are in place next will be a final wash and some weathering

Great looking builds everyone,Bsyamato you might try a pin wash its more effective picking up those light panel line details.

Len the Emily is looking awesome!

I have been building an old Swallow kit, 1/32 A6m2 for about a month now and she is almost finished. Is she eligble for your GB? When she's done I'll post some pic's.

All gave some and some gave all.

Is it too late to join in on this GB?  I have never been in on a GB but would really like to as long as no one objects.

I have 4 kits I'm thinkin of doing for this that I don't think anyone mentioned doing yet, except for a Nick.

1. M6A1 Seiran 1/48

2. Hyakushiki Shitei III Kai 1/48

3. Gekko Type 11 Irving 1/48

4. Ki-45 Kai Koh Nick 1/48

Jay magnificent weathering on (the)  george YesYes

Len the emily is too much ... too Bow Down seeing it you're convincing me to search the 72 mavis Surprise

i'm just tring to panel some line on the kate, later tonight or tomorrow pics

edit:

later tonight was

i fitted the wheels and break the coverings ..  repaired with CA glue and repainted damaged zones

results of panel lining/washing steps

despite i exagerated whit the wash really few lines was highlighted with this step, the surface details are too little for this tecnique Sad

let it dry for a whole day before final matt or satin coat

Ok I'm going to be a bit of  'rivet counter' here - sorry!  Jason's N1K2 George is a 'Shiden' - no 'n'.  The Shinden is the J7W canard.  Anyway, I used to make the same mistake until the guys over at                   J-aircraft.com straightened me out.  By the way, if you've never been there J-aircraft.com is a wealth of info concerning all aspects of Japanese aircraft.

Hmmmm.....Mayde I'll add the '1946' J7W2 jet to my GB build list.

More on the Ki-94-II, maybe tonight.

Jason: Great work on the Shinden! Looks like you're going to be the second modeler to complete a build here. Good work!

Len: Emily is coming along great! You've got my respect for taking a not so great kit and bludgeoning it into submission!

Hey Guys,

Got some paint on the "Emily" tonight, freehanded with my Badger 150. I`ll have much more time to play tomorrow night and am hoping to get all the painting finished and sealed by the end of the session. Will take some better pics too. Here`s a couple from tonight...

....the rigging for the wing floats....

That`s it for now...thanks for looking!

 troublemaker66:

Got a chance to do some work on my Emily. What a PITA with fit issues. Here`s a few pics...

Using caulk to fill gaps because of all the raised rivet detail...trying to do as little sanding as possible.

Jason: Yeah! Pre-cut masks make doing the canopy so much easier! I think I'll have to go with the C6N Myrt simply because you don't see many of them built. I have to say I was a bit hesitant since I've got the 1/48th Hasegawa kit and gee you can tell she's a recon plane since she's nothing but windows! I'm almost scared to try to mask all of them.

Waikong: Hey, thanks for dropping by! Those are splendid looking figures, thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll have to try the mixing red in with the flesh.

bsyamato:  I noticed that as well, the flash washed out the aluminum color.  And there is no other paint on the body yet! lol still waiting for my paint to come in!

TREYZX10R

Needbeer great job on the Zeke, really like the suttle chipping on the honomura and the exhaust and gun stains are perfect!

Thanks for all the positive comments ,finished up the mottle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/treyzx10r/KI44TOJO/Tojomot2001.jpg

I did thin the paint 10% with a base reducer made by Nason

I'm not sure how authentic the mottle really is ,I could only find one artist rendering to go by so the rest is a geuss but it works for me. I'll need to go back over it and touch it up and even it a bit here and there. Next I'll start adding some decals and weathering

Some impressive brush-painting there!

Gamera

Jailcop: She's lookin' good! Love how the engine came out.

Ditto

Out of lips correction ( can ruin the whole finished kit reaputation LOL) the engine looks really good, just the inside covers seems not painted . The zero gray looks really good , was a mix or you used the correct gray?

Wikong these pilots looks dam.. good to me

You guys are doing such great work in this GB, I've been lurking since day one.  Just too much other started build to join another GB for now.

Jailcop, If I can offer one advise regarding the figure, instead of using red for the lips, just add a touch of red to your flesh color. Use that as the color for the lips - you'll get the defintiion without making them pop out so much.  Here's an example I did with figures from the Tamiya a6m5 kit - not a great figure painter myself, but you get what I mean.  I used a pin to scratch the paint in for the eyes and eyebrow.

Well here is my work as of last night...

Pilot figure finished, rough I know but the best I've ever done.  Used a toothpick for the face.

Cowling with engine installed, note the brass detail on the engine, not sure if that's accurate, but I wanted some detail in there.

Cockpit.  I ended up using Tamiya Dark Green instead of the cockpit green.  Won't be seen much hopefully.

Canopy taped off for the first part of the framing when the IJN Gray-Green comes in.

I got most the rest of the assembly done last night.  This is going to be hung so I made the landing gear stowed.

Jason: No problem, I'll go change the roster when we decide on one or the other. Seems to me though that the Nick and the Myrt have a pile of windows to mask don't they?

Bsyamato: Thanks, I don't use enamel paint much anymore so I'm pretty ignorant on the subject.

Trey: Yes, you are the Mottle Master! I tried hand painting the mottling on a Ki-61 Tony some years ago and made a mess out of it - I think I didn't thin the paint enough though.

Kevin: Great start, she's coming along great!
