Well, no.  The Mk I used the Merlin II and III engines.  The difference being the III could accommodate the DH or Rotol props (3 blades) to replace the 2 bladed Watts prop.  

They were referred to as "Mk I (early)" to denote Merlin II with fabric wings and Watts prop plus some other details; and "Mk I (late)" to denote Merlin III with metal wings and DH or Rotol prop. 8x.303 guns in the wings. Because the mods were not interdependent, metal winged Mk I could have a Watts prop and fabric winged Mk I could have DH or Rotol props. By BoB all fabric wings and Watts props were phased out, but rare exceptions existed (check photos).  During Battle of France many still had fabric wings and/or Watts props. 

To improve performance the Merlin XX engine was chosen for the Mk II. The Mk II was to have 12 x .303 but due to shortages the early production batches only had 8. To indicate the difference in gun configuration the 8 gun Mk II was called the Mk IIa and the 12 gun configuration was called Mk IIb. For clarity historians and Modelers refer to the 8 gun wing as "a" and 12 gun wing as "b", retro-labeling that to the Mk I's. 

To create more confusion, the Mk IIa had a Series I and a Series II. Series II could carry wing drop tanks, but no bombs. 

The Mk IIc had 4 x 20mm cannons in the wing. The Mk IId had two 40 mm cannon below the wings. All had the Merlin XX engine. 

For more confusion, this doesn't apply to Sea Hurricanes!

I'm sure there are exceptions to the above...but I don't have anything in my notes.

3 major updates. Sorted them out.

The hurricane that airfix markets as a mkI is actually a MkIa. If its was a MkI it would have a 2 blade wooden prop. When they received the new 3 blade props they became MkIa. and IIRC when they received the hamilton standard props they became a Mk2.

For the most part they've done very well.... of course, after the fire crew left and the police helocopters flew away,  its nearly back to just as you left it.......dont worry, they say the smoke stain and water damage will be easy for you to patch up .  Oh and Welcome back.

Theuns:  actually a very accurate kit of the Mk I Hurri with metal wings.  Try a search on the web for a build review, I remember reading one where the builder boxed in the wheel wells and added a bit of detail to the cockpit. He finished with a vac canopy, opened, by Squadron. 

By rescribing you've done most of what he did.

Well, im back, my heads still not quite there yet. Having trouble dealing with the death of the family's lodestone. It may take me a few days to work through any new additions. But if you want to enter, just go for it and start posting pics, ill get caught up eventually.

Picked up this little Airfix 1/72 Huricane Mk1 after I just got the new tool BF 110. I thought the Hurri was the same quality as the BF, but after opening the box I was rather dissapointed to see it had allmost no internal detail ,no wheel wells and raised detail. Obviously an old mold, not like the 110  :-(

I tried to dress the cockpit with a collomb but under the canopy I think very little will be visable anyway. I might have to do an in flight modle as the wheel wells are not even there, let allone bare!

I decided to sand down the raised detail and re-scribe it. After comparing the left (scribed) wing to the right, I fell a tad more posative about the model.I will not do anything special to it, just a fun littte build.

luckily for me digital camo doesnt fit the time frame (this is a 70s-80s build) THANK GOD lol

getting there now got to fill around the gun when the glues set and repaint that area

i'm sure the latest zero i get is new mold, best way  is to check on airfix forum the kits codes and compare the kit you wish to get .

Yes I have been reading some good reviews on the Academy Helldiver, the detail is not so old like on the Aifix one.

I have been looking into allot of the socalled "new" airfix kits, but it seems allot of them are just old moulds in the new box.

Theuns if you want to get the good 1/72 helldiver you need the academy one, as i know is the best helldiver in this scale.

Waithing for 110 pictures

I was thinking to do the Helldiver aswell, but after seeing all those raised detail I will give it a miss.

Since there is a bit of time left, sign me up for another build, this time a new tool 1/72 BF 110 in either Eastern front or BOB colours.

Got the kit today and eccept for the now standard pannel trenshes it looks good.

After around a week on and off i finally got some time too post pics. I did more detail in the cockpits than I've ever done before. Something new was making belts for the guns at the back, I used cable ties cut into sections, I heated them a little to bend them, then painted them. I also tried wiring up an engine, and this one turned out quite well.

Once I assembled the basic structure of the plane, I began too realize how many seams there were… Yay seams!

im beggining to think ive bitten off more than i can chew with the camo scheme im gonna do.
it involves 4 colours and ALOT of masking which is bad enough on this but its scaring the hell out of me for the valkyrie and the other monster im gonna do for the atlantians!!
