the atlantian theme ties in with my what if britain didnt basically go bankrupt (money and morally!) in the 60s and all the design teams were just left to get on with their jobs atlantians were also loaded and went fishing for the best equipment alot of which was british

made some more progress on the thor today made the pylons sorted where they go etc and a bunch of stuff that doesnt show on pictures

nice fitment on the gear doors!!!!! after plenty of fiddling and dry fitting theyr all flush and neat but iv got a prety substantial gap lol i think il fill it

some cracking builds in this gb (alot of earlier airfix kits were pretty crap tbh)

my next build is lined up 1/72 bac tsr 2 thor (atlantian navy)

thor is a hammer wielding god of thunder and lightning and as such seemed a good name for the premier strike/interdiction aircraft anywhere in the world

smile.gif

this build will be an atlnatian navy strike bomber based on both of the 2800 foot long super habakuk class carriers AMPHITRITE and BRIZO even at max take off weight the thor can easily get airbourne without the aid of a catapult (although the cat is routinely used on quite a mild setting to allow take offs without using afterburner).
the original tsr2 had flimsy looking undercarriage BUT it was actually very strong due to its short take off and landing specification

this build will be an antishipping mission with 4 anti ship missiles

Skorpiomikey - the final result still looks pretty good from here considering the issues you cam across. And seriously, how many pusher-engine, biplane, flying boat experts do you know who could pick apart details?!?! Wink I'm still loving the footprints on the wings' leading edges!

I'm so glad you built this version.I wanted to,but I wasn't sure if it was a WWII scheme which I needed for another GB.

BTW,don't get cheap on us.We need more pics of that bad boy!Toast

Scorp, despite the problems you had with it, you got good results.  It's still a nice bit of work, and you can be proud of it especially because you won out over the headaches it gave you.

Again, thanks for the kind words.

So much for the walrus being on hold. I took yesterday afternoon off work as i just needed some time, sat down at the desk, and this is what im left with.

Ive done better. Im not happy with it. But its off the bench. Hated this kit, drove me nuts. Nothing fit right, had to guess the placement of most things. Wings are massively too thick.  But thats what you get for building a kit first produced long before i was born.

Hey Scorp,

So sorry to hear of your loss; please accept my condolences as well as the rest of your friends here in the posts.  Take some time and sort things out with the family.  We'll see you in a bit.

Scorpiomikey

Thanks for all the kind wishes guys. I think the hardest part of the whole thing, is i dont know how to feel. I just feel...numb, or empty or i dont know. i know i should be sad or angry or something, but im not, theres just nothing there.

Been there buddy, this stuff finds a way of sorting itself out eventually.

Don't let it worry you- perfectly natural.  We all grieve in our own way and at our own pace.

I too, add my condolences to you for your loss

That's fairly common. Just let the feelings come as they will.

Scorpiomikey - my condolences. (To be honest, it never sounds like enough, but anything beyond that always feels awkward to me!) Take care of what needs to be done, we'll carry on until you return,

Sorry for your loss, Scorpiomikey. Take care of family first, we'll be here when you get back.

Ill get that sorted for you now.

I will be AWOL this weekend till Wednesday next week. Had a death in the family and need to go up for the funeral. Still hasn't fully hit me, not quite sure how i feel just at the moment.

Thanks for understanding guys. Ill keep this up to date until Saturday then the front page wont be updated again till Wednesday or Thursday next week.

The walrus is nearly finished, just need to fix up a couple things and then decals, again thats on hold till i get back.

Perfect... I have the 1/24 Stuka in my stash that's been hollering "build me" for over a year now. Let me get a couple of tanks finished for another GB and I'll be all over the Stuka. Count me in please.

"Happiness is a clean bench, a new kit from the stash and a fresh #11 blade!!"

Currently on the bench:

Airfix 1/24 JU-87B-2 Stuka (Airfix Group Build)

Dragon 1/32 1 P-51D, Petie 2nd "Blue Nose"

Academy 1/25 Panther G Late

Academy 1/25 Jagdpanther

I hope to hit up the LHS and Michael's on Thursday or Friday, so I'm looking for some advice.

First I'm looking for the most suitable size styrene tube to make empty 25 pdr casings.  Since making the lip for the ejector is almost pointless in 1/72, I'll probably just fill in one side.  Just looking to make some spent casings.

Next question is what would be the best recommendation for paint color for these casings from Michael's, either ready to paint or a good mix. Settled for walmarts small selection and ended up with a gold which looks like garbage.

Now I'm feeling the itch for a little dio, since I have the time.
