necessity makes miracles Smile i never really think to scatch a tail rotor but i needed one. The way is to try, or try to catch the dangerous carpet monster.

I don't have carpet here, i have probably some gnome that like collect pieces Alien (or alien abductions?)

LOL Big Smile you lost some piece

time ago i build a mangusta, just after paint the tail rotor i lost it, then i picked some evergreen sheets and pieces from stock

If you lost so many piece is time to buy more evergreen (or others) stuffs Toast

i found the original rotor only more than a year after finished the mangusta.

Centhot waiting for the unfreezing Widgeon

I think it could be a long wait... I've an Eduard CS-92 waiting for it's lost canopy, and an Italeri SU-122 waiting for a lost wheel...  I even put down wooden floors in the study, but, still can't find the missing parts.  Saying that, a wheel from something else was found last night - I wonder what from?  Some long dead project?

That Spitfire looks wonderful, a fantastic addition to the GB.  I'll be watching your build, as I plan to build one of those beauties, so far, so brilliant!

You may need to shave the shoulders of the instrument panel, or you will have difficulty closing the fuselage.  I encountered this at the Spitfire GB, and it has been mentioned on at least one of the British forums.

Oh Noes! Surprise Thanks for the heads-up! Yes

I forget, were you using an AM cockpit? Pilot looks right, but the rest of it looks way too awesomesauce for airfix.

Here's an update to prove that I am actually participating. Embarrassed I think I mentioned above that I am a super slow builder and this is my first one back . . .

I am painting with Vallejo Paints over Vallejo Primer. If you look closely, you can see where some of the paint is wearing off with handling. I don't think the primer has enough "tooth" to allow adequate adhesion. I am still messing around trying to solve the adhesion problems.

I read this on a blog this morning:

In the past I had issue with the paint rubbing off down to the primer. Through trial and error I have found that VMC needs a little tooth in the primer for the best adhesion. Mr Surfacer 1000 airbrushed is just too smooth for the paint and I have had much better luck airbrushing Mr Surfacer 500 or an automotive primer from a rattle can. I also had better results with paint adhesion by using their thinner instead of water.

As I had thinned with Testor's Universal Acrylic Thinner, I am trying thinning with Vallejo's thinner. I am going to experiment with thinning the thinner with distilled water as the thinner itself is fairly thick. (I read this tip on the same site as the quote above.)

This is a fated build!  First I lost the instructions yesterday, now I managed to lose an airscrew set (propellers)...  Well, there were some 'challenges' up ahead.  The holes on the floats were either far too large, or too small (which is better).  As for the windshield, well, I already knew it would 'interesting'.  For now, this is a frozen build, still, at least I finished the Camel.

Sat down with the Mirage & decals on Friday and...... they curled up like you would not believe. Not "curled up in the water", but after they were on & dried. I used some liquid decal film, the colours held well enough, but I'd say the adhesive is simply non-existant on these original decals. (I had also been warned about the "brown-paper-backed decals".)

So, I'm on the hunt for decals! Albatros made a massive sheet, but I'm only looking for the SAAF decals of course. I'll be searching some of the online sources for sales/trades. If I don't have any luck there I may have to go the "print your own" route. I'm certainly capable of it considering what pays my bills, I just need to find the supplies to do it right.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Good luck with that Concorde, it's not the easiest of builds.  Look out for the undercarriage, I recall someone having problems there.
