Great work at the end Noah YesYes only fuselage seams could be more cured

 TD4438:

Great job Noah.Janky canopies seem to the norm with this GB.

...

don't want to self injure me but out of the scout, the other 3 kits from airfix i have in box, the mig-23, the viggen and the super etendard  ,canopies fit good Clown

nice updates on the carrier, planes seems good molded

The canopies do seem to vary from kit to kit with the older releases. The Mirage F1 (only a 2-piece canopy) fits perfectly but is a little thick. I put some glue to the Heinkel 177 last night while waiting for some paint to dry on other kits. Nothing big, joining halves of the moveable control surfaces, cleaning up the parts for the Hs293 glider bombs. The fins look a little thick but the shape seems good.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Very nice. Are you airbrushing or hand brushing? If your hand brushing find an old brush thats frayed a bit (about 3mm round for 72 scale, bit bigger for 48), chop the bristles down to about 1mm long, fray the bageeses out of it by scrubbing it on some sandpaper. Instant mottle brush. tap the tips in some paint, poke it at the kit quickly. Produces a fairly good mottle. just make sure theres not too much paint on the brush. less than normal painting. more than dry brushing.

Ill update the front page now.

Calling Airfix's 1/72 Hs 129 B-3 done guys. It has been an enjoyable build with a pretty fair amount of hours into the build and a lot more thinking about it. I wish the canopy would've fit better, wish that the main cannon was stabilized more, in the overhead shot you can see that at the time of that picture i knocked it off several degrees.. This build kept me wondering how I was going to finish it. I mixed up my own gelb, tried a new technique for the splotches (couldve been better), and got to read up on a subject (the plane) that I didnt know anything about. Whichever Pic you think is the best can be put on the front page.

The can is there just to hold up the boat for the photo. However,I do dullcoat my builds when done. The dullcoat evens out the finish and can eliminate imperfections such as brushsrokes, scratches and even oil from your skin. Some times paint doesn't dry as flat as it should,so it takes care of that as well.

TD4438 - I noticed that Testors matt dull coat can there, I have the same thing, do you spray it on the plastic before you paint? Why do you do that?

 DUSTER:

The cat, is slightly more impressed, now, due to your kind comments.

One of our cats was so impressed with a B-17 I built years ago, he sat on it.

We still have the cat. . .

OUCH! Mine seem pretty interested in the building process - paintbrushes especially. Not so interested in the finished product, guess I'm lucky that way!

Cool Model A there, Duster. Great photo essay, BTW, how can the cat not be impressed???   Also, really nice Corsairs......really strange to see a Corsair in British markings; nice touch!!

2022 New Year's Resolution:  Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!!  Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge???  Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

TD4438

Do you thin it out first?

If it's heavy-duty construction-grade glue I might thin it a little bit. But right now I'm using some testor's "clear parts glue", which is just right, right out of the bottle.

Very appealing vehicle, Duster--and it doesn't come with all those computerized components that break down and need repair.

And the special artsy technique is particularly well-done.

Love the motor.

Well after a bit of this and that; out of towns; and other silly stuff. The 1910 Ford Model T is called done .

For those that don't want to retrace the thread, this is an older model Airfix. For all of that it was a reasonably good build there were some things I didn't want to let slide or couldn't live with so I did expand my knowledge by trying some new to me techniques .

I added :

  1. a new windshield and frame
  2. new windshield braces
  3.  dash and firewall
  4.  partial drive shaft,
  5.  partial exhaust and muffler
  6. convertible top and bows
  7. lens for the front lights
  8. recreated the radiator cap -old one broke off Sad
  9. added silver to the carriage lamp sides
  10. the rubber mat in the front floor
  11. the three foot peddles
  12. the body molding at the seat level; rear of the car
  13. new crank handle (lost the original until after the new ones, glue had dried Bang Head)

I removed or adjusted:

  1. the right hand drive to left hand
  2. rebuilt the brake lever
  3. removed the license plates front and rear
  4. corrected the mold misalignment on the spokes

All in all a fun and interesting project and to learn about the cars history was very rewarding.

Also - Yes Ford DID offer Red in 1910 and the rubber industry was just learning about the better quality available when adding black to the normaly white, rubber tires.

Ever the critic.....

DONE!

Nice looking Corsairs, Khalee and RRB.  Amazing how different a paint scheme can make on the same type plane.

TD, that's an excellent job on the Buffalo.  Looks really good.

TD4438

Do you thin it out first?

I do, plus add some dish detergent as a wetting agent.  It's kind of an art of experimentation for "how thin," but I've found it better to be too thick than too thin.

It's a good little fix on smaller aircraft, especially around canopies as it won't damage the clear parts. Also much easier to clean up than CA glue or putty.
