No problem Carl! I always "blog" my builds and try to capture all the little pitfalls and such that are out there...if it helps someone else avoid a similar problem and enjoy their build a bit more, then I've done my bit so to speak. Wink There's also another building doing the same kit in this GB so I have added incentive in that regard. Thanks for the kind words! Yes

Bill, I thank you heartily for your blog on this kit.  I have a laptop on my workbench open to your blog.  Come to Spring Branch and I'll buy you a beverage.

My pleasure Satch! I'm in El Paso so it would be a fair bit of driving for a beverage (540 miles or so one-way), so I'll settle for a virtual one instead! Beer

Hi guys..    been working on the pz I command pup...    hope to get some pics up in the next few days. I finally received the Verlinden internal detail set....  although it states it is for the Italeri / Zverda, the fit is just about spot on.

Kvelduffer,,    I have that same MB pz I munition buggy.....  I'll be watching your critique

wBill,,  your updates are top notch,, super informative, thanks.      And good luck with the MBA next Thursday

Rob,,   the Somua is looking great,,,  nice change out on the hooks and I also like that drivers port open.. nice touch

Carl,,   that little Italeri is shaping up nicely too,,  dicey work on those drive sprockets,, (I know). The fender springs are brilliant,,  nice job.

AndyT,,   your bi-bird is looking great too,,,,,    superb job!

Enjoy the ride!

CARL - Nice work on everything but really digging the fender springs Yes  I see you have improved your technique, no black fingers.  Will be trying this when I start my Pz I "Kleiner".

MARC - Man and Tank!  What kind of name would that give you?  Charnut.  Thanks buddy.

MODELER#1 - You have me drooling with anticipation.

ANDYT - Looking real good almost ready for flight.  Those control wires might be a pain but they shore add to the build and look great.  Well worth the effort.

WE HAVE COLOR

Masked off the running gear and sprayed flat black in the louvers to start.  Then sprayed Chestnut for the first color.  After dry, masked and sprayed RAF Dark Green, let dry and masked.  Next sprayed Panzer Olivgrun "43", let dry and masked.  Final coat on rear was with French Dark Blue Gray.

While this was drying decided to redo the right side of the turret.  Was not happy with the shape of the camo I had originally had.  Don't have a picture of this but was very happy with the outcome.  After everything was dry, pulled all the masking off except for on the running gear.  Then went to work with the small black stripes.  Instead of a Sharpie brand I tried a new permanent marker.  It was a SCHNEIDER OMP S permanent marker.  Found this marker to draw on much easier and it made extremely fine lines.  Was extremely happy with the results.  Now after saying that the problem was next in line.  After pin stripping, sprayed on a coat of Dull Coat.  This is what happened:

The permanent marker bleed everywhere Bang Head  It only did this to the turret though?  On the rest of the build the width of the black line got bigger but did not bleed.  Broke out the paint brushes and touched up all of the bad spots.  Then sprayed light coats of Dull Coat and this is how she now looks:

Great work all around guys! Yes

Rob: Weird how the marker ran on the turret but not the hull, still the Somua looks terrific and I love the different colour scheme. The FT-17 looks fantastic too, love the dirt and weathering, I hope my B1 comes out half as well. And BTW nice decals there Wink

Sorry guys, didn't get as much done this weekend as I hoped, I did give most of the mud and dirt added to the B1 and a coat of semi-gloss. Just added the chains to the rear of the vehicle last night and glooped mud all over the bottom ends, Still need to paint and add a wash to the mud and hopefully I'll be set for the filters.

would like to join with Panzer II A/B ish, will also be finishing a 38t it only has the wheels on and a couple of minor parts as you can see the Panzer is still in the bag. these are both in 1/48 {TOTS} the latter a resin conversion of the Tamiya Hetzer.

Panzerwaffe, that Somua looks very sharp in the multi color camoYesYes And everybodyu goes on about how cool Panzer camo schemes are... they dont have squat on the French!Toast Nice save on the bleed clean up for the black lines. I will definitley be using my Gunze Gundam pen for the same role when I camo up my CharsWink Things like that bleed can occasional trip my fuse and turn tanks into aircraft that don't survive landing against hardened concrete or brick surfaces...Whistling

CARL - Big Smile

CLIFF - No hurry, take your time on the B1.  Do look forward to your next update though.

ERIC - Hang in there Beer

STIK - Your right, most of these French tanks had all kinds of crazy camo schemes.  After the incident with the turret I'm going to get some of those Gunze Gundam pens.  Thanks for letting us know about them.

Were you still thinking of finishing your Somua or did you have other projects lined up?

WBILL, BILL212 - It is a strange looking thing.  Not what you would thing a tank would look like.

SCOTT - Take care of yourself and hope you can make it back soon.

MARC - .....OH BOY Surprise

Thanks for the comments guys.

Not much to report on tonight.  Have just been sitting here at my bench starring at the Somua kind of lost.  Just not feeling it today and trying to figure out how to tone down the colors.  Afraid my normal filters / washes will be to dark and will lose the contrast of the gray but at the same time want to make it look a little used and weathered.  Will have to play around on some scrap pieces and see if can get something I like before putting anything on the build.  Any suggestions?

Have started painting the light assemblies and made the front light housing from PE.

I will not be touching the Somua before the end of this year. I have too many other projects further along right now. But I may early in the new year. After looking at yours, I am motivated to tackle mine. I wont go anywhere near as all out with PE,etc, but I do atleast want to get some MK tracks for it. Fruils are not in my budget right now (or patience with all those wire track hinge pins...:omfg:) BTW, hat colors did you use for the camo PW?

I agree Bufflehead about the work shown here. Some very impressive  builds (I don't count my UE in the same league as the others you named, those have so much more work put in to them... mine was shake and bake) I am enjoying coming back daily and peeking at the ongoing work.

Some very prolific and equally impressive work going on over there. Just have a look at the page one completed builds Wink

1/48!?!   Wow, Dostacos, I think we have a new smallest panzer! In 1/48 the Pzk II would have to be smaller than a bar of soap. Indifferent

Thanks guys for the kind words, having fun with this GB, I haven't built a French tank since I did the good old Heller Somua in college (long time ago.....).
