Kind of funny, you make excuses for why you don't have a build done, then when you say no more excuses a perfectly valid one appears....Aug 29 is today. I ordered my paint for this build Aug 6th and according to my most recent communication my paint is STILL IN CHINA. I don't mean to rant but this is getting ridiculous.

That is why you support your local hobby store. A quick trip to the local shop beats a slow boat to/from China any day!

I have the decals on and the drop tanks painted.  I just need to glue the tanks on and I will call it done.  Oh, and figure out what I'm going to do with that pesky right wing.

I finished painting the Corsair.  The right wing is giving me some serious problems.  Still not sure what I'm going to do about it.

I'm thinking of having the right wing up and the left wing down, but I don't know if they would have been in that configuration, especially with the pilot in and the cockpit closed.  I may also cut it off and glue it in flying position.

even other pieces are under construction/painting... but today discovered that one of main gear legs are lost 

An unespected scratchbuilt session is needed in these days 

After 3 days or so of work prepping here is the finished exhaust system re plated in Alclad II chrome. There's a couple of funky patches on the mufflers but I'm just gonna skip over them and forget about it.

And installed on the frame. I gotta be really careful handling the build now since this stuff is prone to scratches and fingerprints.

All that's left here are a few foot rests and pedals, paint the rear stand and kickstand then it's back to my T-34 until my clear arrives. Latest update from the P.O. is the box is still in China. The company I ordered from has been extremely courteous and easy to deal with it's just taking a REALLY long time.

I started turning some of the pile of sub-assemblies in to something tonight. First up was the mud gaurd/body underside and license plate.

Also finished up the rear wheel/swing arm and rear brake. The wheels are Tamiya Mica Red over Tamiya Silver Leaf and cleared with what remaining TS-13 I had on hand.

Here is the whole rear frame so far. Next up I'll finish the exhaust system which I've been prepping on for the last two days then I can finish up the radiator assembly and some of the misc. pedals/foot rests so I can call the rear end done. Then it's back to twiddling my thumbs until my shipment of paint arrives because the next steps in the instructions deal with the body panels and front end, both of which will need clear coat.

My Super Bee continues to sit as well. I decided to go down the pick apart yard junker route but my instant rust well...isn't rusting. I've used up like 1/2 the bottle of the oxidizing agent over the last 72 hrs and the iron still just looks like iron ><

The post-shading turned out very nice!

Post shaded the camo colors with lighter and darker respective colors, also did a partial layer of gloss coat (upper wings, upper rudders and vertical rudder).

It's too hard to paint the whole plane in a single session with brushes

DJ, I seem to have trouble getting wings to fit when the directions are correct!  Good luck with getting it to fit right.  I am sure you will get it to look good.

Mike, the main reason I haven't done a natural metal finished model is because of the prep work.  No because I am lazy, just because I don't wanna mess it up and waste money and a model.  I will have to man up soon though.....I got a bunch of WWII planes in the stash.  I wish you luck with your NMF endeavor.

The bee is still getting the best of me so I set it aside and got back to my main build for this GB. I've been avoiding the exhaust assembly on this ZX-14 for quite awhile, it really is one of those sub assemblies that makes you want to set the project aside because you just don't want to deal with it. All parts were molded on the chrome tree but due to mold lines and ejector pins that needed cleaning the parts took a trip through some CSC to strip the plating off. Now here's where it gets tricky. The pipes themselves are molded in three pieces, a left, right, and Y shaped center section. All mold lines and pin marks need to be removed from the pipes themselves but now there is the issue of a seam running down the center and along the sides of the collector. Because these parts are going to be re-plated in Alclad I need to make sure each of these seams is 100% smooth and perfect as well as making certain that the pipes are buffed free of scratches because even with primer Alclad chrome will make them stand out. Moving rearward each muffler is molded in four pieces (there are two) and has a seam on the top and bottom to be filled. Long story short I got my work cut out for me on prep... I also got a email my clearcoat is on it;s way from the Orient, no idea on when it will arrive but I should be able to get the rear frame done now. The front forks will have to wait since they sandwich the front fender and well....I need my clear to paint it.

Thanks Kevin!  I am doing the best I can with this one.  I ran into a problem with the wing hinges. The instructions had me put them on upside down.  I pulled them off, but the right one broke.  I put them on the best I could, but the fit on the right one just isn't right.

Finally take some boost on the EB-66

3 layers of thinned 94 humbrol after some masking (i totally ignored correct FS colors, just used eyes and real pictures to pick the nearest color imho)

then i chooce the humbrol 102 for medium green and the 116 for the dark green, in all the pictures i see noticed only three upper camo colors, also totally ignored the instruction scheme and used pictures as reference

The fix didn't work as a matter of fact the problem is now worse. Soon as my instant rust arrives from *** Blick art this thing is going to the "pick apart yard"
