Doogs,
Thanks man! Eggcelent (......)
I am eyeballing some larger scale stuff for the future as we speak. I like big jugs...

Been really enjoying the great work on display here so far, and it's getting me pumped to get busy on my 1/72 razorback. Nice to this GB still going strong! Figuring as soon as my current DR.I build is finished, I'll be jumping in with both feet. You fellas have set the bar quite high, and I'll do my best to keep it there.

Hi Doogs, can you put me down for a P-47N 1/32 Trumpeter.
Cheers

Oh gee, I'm so sorry to hear that. We lost our boston terrier about a year ago. My condolences.
So sorry to hear it. Our oldest pooch turns ten this summer, and in the past six months or so he's really started showing his age. Lost dogs before...my parents' dogs, a dachshund my wife and I got soon after we were married...but Sam's my dog. Got him the summer I graduated college. Barring anything unexpected, he's probably got a few years left, but he's hit that point where he's an old dog and I'm having to confront that one day, before I know it, I'll have to say goodbye. Not looking forward to it at all.
Yeah, aging in pooches is a problem. I'm lucky chihuahuas live so long. Our little fella got to 16 years. We have one who is 11 and she is very puppyish.
Managed some progress the past few days. Wings, tail and flaps assembled, sanded, polished and on. Unfortunately, as slow as my progress is it's about to get slower as I start my seasonal/part time job at our used bookstore next week. But Hey, I gotta generate stash cash somehow and this an excellent way to do it. I get 35% off any book and occasionally I'm able to special order reference books through our mother store. Not to mention the occasional gem that gets donated to our store.
I regret that I am not the most prolific poster here and I tend to miss out on passing kudos out to everybody. Yet, I want you all to know that I am hugely impreessed with the quality of work and skills on this GB. Everyone is turning out just magnificant stuff.

Joe,
Nice job, nice smooth base that you'll need to get the NM down.
Looking good, Joe! I have just started the preshading stage of my Tamiya right now, it's exciting to watch the paint go on! Good luck with your build and the part time job!

Here are some completed shots of "Some Punkins." I hope you like it. I am still waiting for a really nice day to do some photos, unfortunately I am not the worlds greatest photographer.
I also have some progress to report on Patsy. The build is progressing at a nice pace, a bulk of the work should be done by this weekend.
Preshaded the body with flat black and metallic gray on top, metallic gray and brown on bottom.
This cowl was a masking nightmare! No fewer than six colors were used to create this. More updates to come!
Von Sisco - Wow! Absolutely outstanding job on "Some Punkins'". Is the tail decals or painted. Either way, NICE!
Von Sisco,
Gorgeous model! I loooove that tail
To make my own introduction.... I have applied with the RoG offering in 1:72 scale:
Which offers the boxart version, but also this french green over grey one:
For EUR.6,95 you get this lot. Not a great many parts but nice detail and great fit. One of the newer revell molds. Just a tiny bit of flash on the IP and engine this time...:
And being busy on her i got this far as we speak:
Used humbrol interior green, a mix of modelmaster dunkelgelb '43 and yellow paint to create the zinc chromate yellow and finished off with some drybrushing and a dab of future for the dials. Hope you guys like my contribution sofar
Looking good, Richard.
I like the nose art on that kit!!
-Tom
It's been a while since I posted. Never thought I'd say this, but you guys have some nice jugs! Great work everyone. As for me, well, I've done a little bit here and there.
Filling, sanding, checking seams. Why? Well, for gloss, of course!
Used Alclad gloss. Not too bad. Just couldn't keep the dust out of the room!
With gloss come the shine:
Hit with airframe aluminum. It's shiny.. That's where I'm sitting currently. Will update with more later.
Von Sisko: Wow, Punkins came out great! My fighter has the same yellow and black strips on the tail, I hope she comes out half as well. And really nice work on Patsy's cowling.
Richard and Mike: Great work too guys!
Joe Rix- Thanks for the compliments! The tail was painted insignia yellow, then I added the Zotz black stripes. It took a little while to line 'em all up, but it was worth it.
Kermit- Thanks for checking out my build, I will be checking out yours. Will you be using the kit decals or are you going with aftermarket?
Mike- Great paint work!
Gamera- Thanks alot! As I said, the stripes were very time intensive, but I like the results.
Time for an update on Patsy. I started earlier this afternoon with what you see here:
After a decal marathon, I now have this:
I just love this AC! The colors and stripes on it just make it really pop. Patsy and I are in the homestretch now, next build will be a double build inspired by Doogs' builds. I will be doing Revell's bubbletop and razorback side-by-side! Can't wait!
Richard - lookin' good so far! There was Tamiya P-47 at ModelFiesta a few weeks back done up as Balls Out...very striking scheme, that!
No idea why the bombs and rockets are just sitting on the ground, but whatevs...
Ed - I can swear I replied last night to Some Punkins, guess not though, but NICE JOB! Really dig the stripey tail - those are decals right? Was curious how those big Zotz markings settled down. And Patsy's looking uber-sweet right about now. Masking's always a PITA, but so worth it when the tape comes off.
Mike - That airframe aluminum is the business, is it not?
Thanks. I did build Balls out before like three times:
But i never built that free french one. Maybe less glamorous but still interesting with the different roundels and such
Heh - I hear ya. Always fun to break from the pack and do something out of left field. My Zotz P-40F/L sheet has a late P-40F in Free French markings...I'm tempted!
On the Jug end, one day I will build a P-47D-30 of the Mexican Air Force (this one operated in the PTO in '44):
Von Sisco - I have that Zotz set and "Patsy" was the first plane i considered building. The more I examined it the more the masking seemed daunting to me and thus opted for "Eight Nifties". Yet, here you come and simply Nail It! Very, very impressive.
Has anyone else picked up the most recent FSM yet??? There seems to be a jug in the reader's gallery produced by one DoogsATX, although they messed up & used his "real" name - congrats buddy!
