Making progress on the Macchi. Its my first Classic Airframes kit and it needs more attention than i'm used to but i think it'll be worth it. Almost ready to paint the cockpit.

I'm gonna try and mix my interior color  using these to bottles:

Good ole Wikipedia only gives a length difference with the Roma being about 8.5 ft longer overall as well as a crew increase of 100.

There is a review from SteelNavy.com and although it is of a 1/700 kit, I think you will find the provided technical data most helpful.

Sucks to hear about your thumb! My night was cut short last night by an urgent summons to deal with a vomiting 3-year-old. I think I might rather have stabbed myself.

Ditto, I'd take a good ol' thumb stabbing any day instead of the vomiting 3y/o.

Started to drop the gauges into the Fiat's instrument panel last night. Total fail. The idea of PE gauges seems cool at first, but the smaller ones are impossible to handle, and even being extremely careful, I lost four. I'll be using some IP decals instead. Grr.

too many cuts on the fingers here hope don't need a call for dr. house

!! sorry, i had no warning, and just check now the page.

there was profiles of all four littorio class battleship, main differences between vv and roma ,out of weight and crew seems to be the different bow shape, some arrangments of central bridge "gadgets" ,top mast, and life boat types and position. will check for others views

heres updates about the veltro

wings upper flap parts thinned

another test fit to check wells and  flaps looking

and after lots of study if must glue wings now or later i  chosen  to glue them (i trow a coin to chose )

then going to the engine section for an hard cut, not for the plastic thickness but for the little things to keep safe

a friend gifted these nece micro chisel tips and i use it to thin the left engine bay wall

after few minutes the plastic thicness was good

the looking after the cuts and the wing parts under tape tension

no fingers was injured this night

Wow 1:72 scale is tiny, that makes your work that much more impressive. Looks great so far Yamato!

Turrets look great. Nice contrast with the different colored liferafts.

Got the cockpit painted on the Saetta and did some shading-looks a bit pronounced in the pic but after weathering it should tone down.

The color was mixed using Gunze FS34227, H324 light gray, and H41 pale green

Vance, as better advice for these chisels , went from female beautician lab, wife of this friend have one of these labs. Brought these things often and in great nimber, can be use easy with normal blades grips 

Nathan the cockpit painted are really good need to add the saetta on the wishbook

Even if the veltro have closed canopy and not spider version (LOL) he have the back sides opened ....

A bit of progress on the Centauro...

Control surface work continues:

I've been using thin strip styrene to shore up the surfaces, and sanding them slightly rounded to match up better with the stabilizers and tail.

I also decided to lighten the cockpit green with some yellow chromate. There's a verde anticorrosione that's a pretty close match for this yellow-green, there's still some disagreement about what the G.55 was painted with, and the modern restoration photos I've got hew much more close to this green.

Starded to detail the veltro cockpit

I finished my  smaller ready evergreen profiles for thiis scale then needed to cut at good thickness from 0.15 and 0.20 mm sheets

orizontal struts done

and vertical too

will cut excess after perfect glue dry, a big applause for the tamiya thin cement!!! it's perfect for these works.

Not fouud good things on my paper references for the veltro cockpit details but foud this!!

an old number of modelling time, finescale associated in europe modelling mag. The article is about the do-335 with 1/72 drawings but the engine section is almost the same of the veltro work saved about to find the good proportion of the db-605 block

TD- excellent work with the PE. Never worked with ship PE before, but I've heard the horror stories!

Got some shots of the Centauro under real lighting...shows off the new color better:

Not too impressed with the kit's seat, but painted it with Tamiya AS-12 and polished it with some of Hawkeye's polishing powder and it's a lot better than it was!

Thanks Doogs.I'll try and straighten the parts out a bit more when the glue is dry.Those things were a real pain.When they are blacked out,they shouldn't be as noticeable.

Though I may take it a bit easy and use the flap detail off this restored one, that apparently borrows flaps from the G.59:

TD great PITA work ... the kit have pe parts i love battleship but fear about the amount of pieces and precision needed (the reason that my bismark sleep again in my stash) but wishing at least a 1/700 copy of rore or vittorio veneto aargh!!! 

LOL lots of pieces between veltro and g55 seems the same, gear, under cowling and canopy!

Will have good problems too about flaps details but for now are postponed till the fuselage are not closed, the last flaps bay near the fuselage involve the same portion for details. As in 1/72 scale i can put not all pieces that are needed in 1/48  

as i do on the typhoon better way is to place the flaps struts at the same distance, but on the veltro have some irregular diagonal element.

The strange thing between the two pictures you put, seems than on the first picture the elebents ending on the flaps edge but in the second have the impression that are cutted before the flap edge, a restoration modify ? ?

btw ... today i've found a forgot bag of micro stirene strips this night will save time with these ready strips

Not much to report hear, except that the main building is pretty much finished. I need to spray a basecoat, perhaps a early as Wednesday. Just be reminded that mine is OOB, except for the aluminum barrel.

If anyone has Italeri or any other decals as spares, I'd love to take them off your hands. Tamiya decals are crap.

But if they'd been further out to sea, they wouldn't have hit anything! Still, with 4000+ onboard, they are quite lucky to not have lost any more than they have.

Good point. I laugh (sort of) about how the captain claims he was like 300 yards off shore, when he practically rolled over onto the shore.

PE is a bit of a pain,but sometimes ya gotta just go for it,bsyamato.None of us would ever improve if we didn't.
