Mig does make some pretty aircraft. But they released a prototype that got outstripped by the Mig-21. The Mig-21 was developed from the Ye-5. But at the airshow that it was shown off at they also showed off its sister. The Ye-2A Faceplate. Which i thought was much nicer looking.

I have a couple parked out on my back ramp.

Ever since I brought home the Mig-17, i haven't had much time to fly them...LOL...

I have a 1/48 Hump-Back buried somewhere in the stacks, a really old Monogram.

My only disappointment with it was that it looked supersonic. It was a true workhorse,

I've heard it actually delivered more ordnance for the Navy during the Vietnam war

than any other Navy aircraft, which reminds me, where's Tarnship?.....lol

The skyhawk was the primary fighter for the RNZAF since 1969 to 2001 i think. (somewhere round there anyway) When they were taken out of service they were the most advanced skyhawks on the planet. If sources are correct, the remaining non museum piece aircraft have been sold to a group in florida as aggressor aircraft for the topgun school. The most obvious enhancement to the K models was the cockpit.

The aircraft im doing though (havent decided on which exact aircraft yet) is this one though.

Which is pre Kahu upgrade so it still has the hump and original cockpit.

Ill probably be modelling 08 which was the first to do arrester gear landings in new zealand. It also had an unfortunate accident.

with minimal training......almost go shot down over Alaska.......LMAO......

Last night I painted a couple of gaming figures, slapped a few decals on a Tamiya P-47D, and did some sanding and built a few missiles for an old Revell MiG-25.

Yeh the Stuka was one of the meanest looking birds of WWII..  I had one way back when I was a member of the Young Modeler's Club as a kid.  That was my  first attempt at Camo painting.  It came out looking like a Picaso version of a duck, but it was a fun build.  I just found and started an old 1/48 BAE Hawk.  The Red arrows kit.  Not the Airfix kit, some off brand.  The whole thing is molded in red, which is making painting fun...

So where is everybody tonight?

 I'm here Ken, just doing some research on my latest project. As I believe I mentioned earlier it's one of my favorite parts of the building process. I'm taking my time with this one. Have just finished painting the cockpit RLM 02 and put some shadows in the recessed areas with a light wash. I also got  the Eduard PE but it's for the Hasegawa kit. I had it in my box so I figured I'd just use what I could rather than spring for a new one. (If they even make one). Anyway, I'll post pics along the way just for kicks. BTW the Mushroom Models book on this plane is awesome!

Very cool Mike M.  I really like the Ju87 Stuka!  Just a mean looking plane!  I have a Revell 1/48 in my stash.  I will keep that book in mind when i go to build it. I too really enjoy the research part of the build process.

cutting mission critical components out of stock

materials just before ingression into enemy territory can

add a bit of task overload.

Yeah, the MiGs landed safely, as I also

had to fly a companion bird remotely, Phew!

We landed on a huge cardboard runway,

with peanuts smacking off've our canopies,

very technical landing, but I got them down,

and onto the stacks....LOL

Kicked my Rolls, Mercedes, Maserati,

Porches, Lincolns, Caddies, and

BMW-Shopping Carts, out of the garage,

ran out of "Agent-Orange" to clean the suckers off.

No worries, the skyhawks one of my least favourite aircraft, probably because ive been surrounded by them all my life. This will be the second one ive built.

A completley empty aircraft (No engine or avionics and empty fuel tanks) one of the guys cleaning the aircraft walked too close to the edge of the wing. Now thats a light aircraft.

The square tail is how we got them. If i remember rightly they were originally modified E's or maybe F's i cant quite remember. But the squared off tail was to accommodate the IFF antenna.

They were classed as A-4K's from the day we bought them to designate "Kiwi" Just like Kuwait got A-4KU's.

When they were disbanded in 2001 there were rumours of a buyer in the states, but the american DoD didnt want them sold to a private firm because of the technology that was in them. The cockpits had basically an F-16 cockpit smooshed into them. It also had a few other bits and bobs the kiwis had added over the years that the DoD wasnt all that happy about falling into civilian hands.

Hi Everyone,

Tonight I picked up our new stove.  It took a week longer for it to arrive than originally forecasted.  It took most of the evening just getting to the store, loading it on the truck, bringing it home, getting the ramps and the two wheel cart out of the shed, getting it out of the truck and into the house, putting the ramps and cart away, and then unpacking the stove.  On top of all that I had to stop by my Mom's house to take care of a few things.

You will be vastly disappointed in the promo marketing, as i never flew the P-40,

and they always forgot to cut-n-paste may face into those Claire Chennault  photos.....!!!
