Thanks guys!
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
VanceCrozier Well folks, I'm calling it done, pending any suggestions from the modelling world on items I may have missed. Heller's 1/72 Saab J21A, built oob except for:• shiny tread-free wheels replaced with wheels from an FW190, not entirely accurate, but better than the option• masking tape harness.• also drilled out the forward tips of the booms to add landing lights.A fun little kit of an interesting machine.(to show the relative size, my little buddy Fuji...)

Wouldn't be the first Swedish model you've propositioned!
Well, I finished assembly on the Viggen last night. Von Hammer will call me a wuss for saying this but I don't miss the old Airfix one bit, I've assembled limited run kits that were less of a pain than this!
Going on vacation/holiday for two weeks, hopefully when I get back I'll get some photos up of the nude Viggen and then start painting her.

Any kit that prompts you to take 2 weeks vacation afterwards... I've got two of them in the stash!!
Eagerly awaiting pictures of your nude Swedish model!
Great job on that SAAB!!
Did SAAB make any of these?
I have many books and my Lair smells of rich mahogany!!! Stay thirsty my fellow MOJOs!
Good job on the J-21 Vance. Nice work on an old kit.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

.............the world wonders........
Vance: sorry still on vacation but I saw this at a museum yesterday. It's supposed to be a rare Canadian fish that grows fur to keep warm, I'm not sure if it's real or not
That's a sharp looking plane there, Vance!
Sheesh, I need to get started on mine if I want any chance of making the deadline...
Gamera Vance: sorry still on vacation but I saw this at a museum yesterday. It's supposed to be a rare Canadian fish that grows fur to keep warm, I'm not sure if it's real or not
lol, Urban legend my friend. The mosquitos, however, start wearing fur coats in mid-December.
Lol, actually I think there were some around here till the horrible Hoop Snakes ate them all...
What's going on in here?!?!?
(Somebody had to say it....)
Vance: hopefully I'll be able to get to the Viggen when I get two aircraft finished here. I'm not going to be done by the end of the year though. Sorry...

No problem Gamera, I was hoping to get a 2nd kit wrapped up before end of year, that is starting to look unlikely at this point. Keep on working on it though, you may beat the Christmas rush yet.
Vance: I did get the gear wells painted and the NM leading edges, where I see a few flaws I'm going to have to touch up. Hopefully I'll get to the underside paint later this week. Still don't expect to be done by the end of the year but I'm at least moving now.
Progress is progress, my radioactive friend!
So I'm about to leave for a few weeks... and I haven't even started mine yet (other than cutting a few pieces off the sprue.)
So it looks like I will have to humbly ask and beg our noble host for a slight time extension.
I'm beginning to think maybe we should have called this the 'Slow Swede Group Build'....
Well, I do have the NM leading edges done, I could have masked them for spraying the underside tonight but ended up playing computer games instead...

I sense an extension in our future....
i'm too sl..
rtoo speed makes ugly results, too relax don't make results
I'm sure will not finish the Viggen for the end of GB but... i have a trick from the hat (i hope is a good traslation) , waiting for a revell draken (rebox of the hase kit but at least middle of price) avaibility from one of my customers
Sigh, I'm with you Bsyamato. I've got the underside of my Viggen masked but between the P-47s and Tiger tank I keep getting distracted. Smashing the nozzle of my detail airbrush didn't help either.
Mostly smoothed out now, but kinda wishing I'd deflected the forward canards. I've seen a few pics that way recently & kinda like the look.Don't think I really posted any cockpit pics before... camera not picking it up well....Now the big decision. Kit-supplied gray over gray #1, kit supplied gray over gray #2, or..... the overall matte black weapons teasting machine?
I haven't seen a black one before. I'm not a big fan of grey/grey, or even grey/grey/grey, but grey/grey/grey/grey is somehow more interesting :)
Nice work Vance, dunno - the grey is kinda dull but I still think it looks good.
Well, the LHS supposedly has my kit on the way. I only had time to stop by there quickly, and didn't specify, so we'll see which 1:72 Drakken, Gripen, or Viggen comes in. If it makes it by this weekend and looks like something I can do in 48 hours, it may end up being a crossover for the Weekend Madness GB starting Friday night. If it looks more complex, I'll at least get a start on it while my weekend project has glue, putty, etc drying to keep up the momentum.
dunno about the color Vane but good work
Draken is near to start from rome
...And I'm back! Still have to finish up the Amiot, but if the GB is extended to end of Jan I can probably be done in time.
Vance, I vote black. Have you ever seen any plane that does not look totally awesome in black? Other possibility is see what othe countries operate the Gripen. I know South Africa, but we already have one of those in our group.
Thanks, Budd
