I pulled out the Viggen and started, bunch of injection pin holes that I've started filling. I may be moving a little slow since I'm working on a pile of stuff right now but the kit is started.

BTW: Anyone know what colour I should be painting the cockpit? The instructions gave the equivalent to USAF Ghost Grey. And the wheel wells were listed as NM aluminum- does that sound right?

Looks almost like olive green inside the wheel wells, but aluminum on the inside of the doors??

That's going to be difficult to pre-shade anything other than the underside gray.  You may want to just plan on post-shading the topside.

Not sure if I'm using the right term here, just going to spray a little dark paint on the panel lines and then go over them with the regular paint, mask the area off and then move on to the second colour, rinse, repeat. Shouldn't be too difficult, just more involved than what I normally do.

Yep, you've got the right term with pre-shading. I'm just wondering how much will be visible in areas that get oversprayed multiple times.

That's why it's so much fun Vance because I'll have to pre-shade with each colour. So with a four colour scheme I'll have to pre-shade four times- before each coat goes down.

I've done it with two and three colour camo, not hard just extra work.

oh I get you - I thought you were planning on pre-shading once, then running multiple colours over that. Yes, you'll have your hands full. I've tried pre-shading once with out seeing much for a result, my final coats were too heavy to show through I suspect. Will definitely try it again though. Thinking I may end up doing my Lansen as nobody else has dropped in with one yet.

Lol! Yeah that's what I love about the Viggen (and the Gripen etc) is that awesome STOL performance. I don't know how the Viggen stacks up against a F-16 or Mirage in a dogfight but no other plane has anywhere near that performance taking off, landing, and being prepped on the ground except maybe a Harrier.

I was just looking at the thrust reversers on the kit and the link you sent me Vance to figure out how to paint them.

BTW: The Lansen sounds cool Vance- go for it!

Heller has a good bunch of Saabs to choose from. I think the Viggen was a shared mould with Airfix as well.

Ahhhhh - finally, this arrived at my local Indigo store:

Now I can stop dropping in every two days making sure I haven't missed it. They must have been wondering if I was casing the place for a robbery! I think I was right about them ordering a small batch though, it wasn't on the shelves Friday afternoon, there were only 3 copies there today.

Oh yeah, i definitely prefer the camoflage as well, but I do have two of those Viggens in the stash, I will likely do one each way.
