Yes you do.
Eric
bump.....and since I'm here.......hoping to attach the road wheels today and work on the Magic Tracks....key word being 'hoping'...
cheers
Bob
Double-bump -- I was hoping to get some paint on my Tiger tracks today, it didn't happen but there's always tomorrow!

I have to join this! THere are so many great builds in here! I have 2 Kingtigers, 1 Tiger, 1 Panther, 1 Jagdpanther and some other "steel cats" in my stash...
Now to the kit I'll build for this:
A Leopard in 1/35 (Hobbyboss):
It isn't one of the classic steel cats, but I hope it still fits into this GB...
If it doesn't, I'll just build a Kingtiger from Dragon (Henschel Turret).
Cheers, Clemens
Clemens, I appreciate the enthusiasm. However, as cool a that Leopard is, we decided to stick with Tigers and Panthers for the GB. So, sadly it won't qualify this time around.
No problem at all, I'll just build a King Tiger (Dragon in 1/35th scale)
Thanks. I'll add you to page 1.
Made some progress-road wheels are on the Panther....also made 4 runs of tracks (Magic Tracks) for the flat sections on top & bottom. This kit has separate/different links for the main drive sprocket...have to add the guide horns. Might attempt to tackle that tomorrow. It is going to be challenging to build the complete track as I normally would-with the alignment of the tracks with the road wheels, I'm going to attempt to make multiple sections-4 per side-get the proper fit, glue except at the main attachment points and then remove & paint.....unless you guys tell me that you paint the tracks when they are attached to the hull.
After spending the afternoon fighting with the road wheels-fit & alignment-how about a Hetzer/38(t) group build next time Eric?
Still need to paint & attach the tools & some weathering, but it was good to make some progress today.
Struggling with the zimmerit, due to excess cutting and fitting. I thought it would go on a little easier. One thing I noticed is the fitting of the top portion to the hull. The hull bows inward. I thought the problem was going to be with the rear plate. That went on fine.
Bob and Clemens, not sure about either, though they both sound good. I was thinking of entering Bish's halftrack GB next. Depends when he starts it. I was toying with a North Africa GB, but am not sure that I'm ready for that one yet.
Clemens, we had a Pz IV GB in 2009, the 1,000 road wheels and a Pz III last year or the year before. What with the D-Day, AA and Halftrack GB coming up, I am hoping the armour guys are going to be a bit busy. While we tend to have quite a few aircraft GB's running at the same time, the armour ones tend to be kept down to a few at a time as its usually the same guys in those. If you want a pure German armour GB, how about an early war Pz's or light Pz's GB, I don't think that's been covered.
Eric, the halftrack GB will start on March 1st, so that some way off. Next up for me are the D-Day starting on Thursday and the AA on 1st Sept.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
My comments regarding a Hetzer/38(t) build were out of frustration to the amount of road wheels (and fit of the Dragon kit) on the Panther (and Tigers)....it's all good.
Bish-I am going to attempt to join the D-Day GB & the Half Track GB....maybe even the AA GB resources permitting.
Question for the group-do you paint the tracks on the vehicle or off? Or do you have a different approach for different tanks-i.e., one for a Panther, different one for a Sherman, etc.
Thanks
I hope you can make them all bob. I know a few of the guys paint tracks when they are fitted, but I do mine off the vehicle.
I too do mine off the vehicle Bob. I've only done it once on and that was the H-39. I found it difficult, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
I do mine off the vehcile, Bob -- in fact i'm hoping to get them sprayed thisafternoon...
Bish, Eric & TB-thanks. I figure I'll paint them off the vehicle-planning on maybe four runs per side-attach and glue the tracks around the main drive gear & rear idler wheel-let them set-up, remove and paint, being careful to tape off the final attachment points to be glued upon final assemble.....then a little touch-up work should be all that is needed....sounds good on paper if nothing else...
Sounds like a plan -- I've not had success with L&L tracks so far, and have ordered workable click-together tracks from AFV Club for a new project, we'll see how they go... The King Tiger is officially Go again, as I got a manganese-steel dark umber basecoat applied to the kit tracks today.
tigermman its the set from tamiya for mid and late tigers. its basically just stickers you cut out and apply to a clean surface... kinda generic but the cost got me on board... and kind of a pain to get to look right... i had to go along and trim all the edges and i cut some spaces here and there to represent some damage. so well see how it looks after paint. im working on getting pe from the et models set on there now... ill have some pics soon
Malone, that has much better texture then pictures I've seen. I never would have guessed that it was the Tamiya zimmerit.
The thread continues to fall off the first page.
I got the zimmerit on the rear and the bow. It's been a lot of cutting and fitting and touching up.
Calling all builders. LOL
It's quieted down quite a bit. I'm ashamed, I got nothing done....yet. I hope to get most of the rear mufflers and such completed tonight. I have a 4-day weekend for Father's Day coming with no distractions.
Yo Eric!! How are things in the GB?? I'm sure there's been a lot of great work that I've missed, I seriously need to get caught up.
So sorry I've been in Absentia of late; too much work and personal issues keeping me from the bench. I'm also sorry to report that no work has been done on the Panther F since my last post. I'd like to get back to it, but now I'm getting ready to move at the end of the month (which I am totally dreading) and may not get back to modeling until next month. Hopefully I'll be able to resume the build in time to get it done by the end date. I'll try to stop in as much as I can, and if I have time to even get some work done. I'm reserving model stuff until the very end of the move!!

Good to see you plugging away Dan. She's coming along fine.
Ernest, believe me when I say I know where you're coming from.
Armor86. Your tiger looks awesome man. The scheme and details are really nice.
As for me I've been slowly plugging along. Got the resin mounts for the skirts on and a few tools. Seams, pour points, cleanup in general make this a slow kit.
Armor86-I have to agree with everyone-your build is looking great.
Malone-I too like the looks of the Tamiya zimmerit....might have to give it a try for the Mid & Late Tamiya Tigers I have sitting in the stash.
Eric-I feel your pain-I looked at my Panther every time I walked by the kitchen table this weekend-didn't touch it. Hope to get the tracks that go around the drive sprocket together tonight....baby steps...
Got nothing done yesterday. Just lazy as heck.
Ernest, nice to see you back. I am sure we have all had life interrupt our model building from time to time.
Dan, that's coming on nicely.
