Most impressive work, my friend! I could start writing what I love about her, but it's just way too much to list. She's truly a piece of art!
Absolutely Stupendous Joe! That is one truly awesome 1/48 scale D-9. From the detail to the painting and to the weathering you have done some major modeling justice. Glad to see you got that antenna licked. You should really be proud of your work there Joe.
Now, it's time to see Clemens bring his entire Staffel home.

Thunderbolt379:Thank you for the vote of confidence!

Clemens: Thanks for your comments good buddy!

Joe (Rix): I'm afraid you guys have to wait a bit untill I can continue work on my Staffel. I'm still wrestling with those damn decals on my Thunderbolt and I really want to get her done before the model show next weekend. After that I'll concentrate on my 190s again. I promise
Can't wait to see it come together Clemens!
Excellent build Joe! Just effing beautiful,,,

Damn Joe, I'm gobsmacked! That is one gorgeously done 190. Amazing effort which has definitely paid off in the end!

Thanks Doug and Eric!!
Doug I can't wait to see you build another 190 and see you in the Stuka build bud!
Eric: Looking forward to seeing you in the Stuka build with the twin kits man!! lol
Greetings Compadres! I wanted to share with you all my first venture in creating a base for one of my builds. Notably for my 190. I give great Thanks to Bish for inspiring me to take this new step in my modeling. i was so taken by the bases you made for your 1/72s Bish, that I just had to give it a try. It's a very simple base made from a blank plaque that I ordered from Hobby Lobby. I then purchased a Woodland Scenics Starter kit from Scalehobbyist. I stained and sealed the base first and then created a very basic ground cover with the kit. This was quite fun and easy. It really adds to my 190 I believe. Thanks also to Doug for for the further inspiration with your bases and to Joe for supplying the encouragement to follow through. On top of this I managed to get some much better photos of my build. I wanted to get this base completed prior to sharing this over on the Aircraft forum but, I wanted to give you all a look first.
Wow Joe!!! Congratulations not only on a fabulous build with a wild paint scheme but also on the base!!! If you'd like I can replace the current pic I have on the intro post to one of these. Pic which one you want buddy!!
Hello friends, I have a tendency to go on "Luftwaffe binges", meaning sometimes I just can't stop building them. Therefore, I would like to throw my hat back in this ring for yet another 190, this time the 1/48 Hasegawa A-5. It will be in the markings of 102 kill ace Egon Mayer of JG2, the "Father of the head-on bomber attack". Some may also be aware of the incident with 56th FG Robert Johnson, when Mayer pumped Johnson's P-47 full of lead and it still wouldn't go down, which essentially denied Mayer his 69th victory. Ironically, Mayer would perish in battle with Thunderbolts in March of 1944. Mayer's A-5 was a run of the mill 190 so it should be a fairly easy color scheme to duplicate.
I'm not sure about aftermarket yet, but I do have a True Details seat in my resin stash. Its for the Tamiya kit but it will probably work fine here. I will probably add Ultracast wheels and be done with it. I hope to jump into this one soon...
Joe

Joe Rix- Excellent ground work. I've only experimented with ground work a little bit here and there, but never made a dedicated base before. How did you glue on the groundwork? Is it the type of grass that you just sprinkle on, or is it a solid matt?
Lawdog, welcome back! Nice kit choice. The Hase kit really doesn't need any aftermarket. Wheels just for kicks maybe, and possible UltraCast's new spinner, just to help improve the look up front. I've used those True Details seats in both the Hasegawa and Eduard 190 kits, and they fit fine.
YES!!! Good ol' Joe (lawdog) is back in here with us!!! I'll get you down on the roster Joe! Welcome back!
Joe: Thanks Buddy. I hadn't considered replacing my wall of fame photo. Since you asked, yea, sure. Use this photo if you would as it's a better photo of the 190.
Nathan: Thanks. It's the sprinkle on turf. It's held in place with the spray on adhesive that comes with the starter kit. You spray on adhesive between each type of turf you apply. It's quite easy.
Joe: It is excellent seeing you in with another 190. Nice follow up to your gorgeous Corsair and Ju 88.
Beautiful work Joe on both the kit and the base!! I havent worked up the nerve to try any kind of ground work yet.
Joe , I'll get it on the intro post today man!! Good choice!
Thanks Eric. I hope you give it a try sometime. It's really kind of fun.
Hey Joe. Got your pic posted and sorry about the delay. Hell I didn't even have my D-9 posted up there yet! LOL
...............and Joe (lawdog). You are now on the intro post list dude! Looking forward to your build and seeing you back in here.
Joe (Rix): That base looks awesome! I have to try something like that myself at some point. Maybe for one of my 1/32 Jugs when I finally get to building one?
Joe (Lawdog): It's great to have you back with another 190!
Thanks for having me back guys. I feel at home here amongst you guys (and Joes). Are we still numbering the Joes here or am I thiking of another GB? Anyways, I started the Hasegawa A-5 last night and I'm in for my first update. Nathan's is correct and the cockpit is great out of the box. I painted it XF-1 Flat Black for shadowing then I used my own concoction of XF-63 German Gray mixed with XF-53 Neutral Grey. I prefer my RLM 66 a bit lighter to show some weathering. I used the kit instrument panel decal which worked great, much better than I could do. The instructions said to scrape the surface but I don't know why. The decals dropped right into the bezels nicely under Micro Sol. The side consoles were detail painted and drybrushed with Floquil Old silver. This looked ok to me so I decided to forego the decals here. The seat is a True Details replacement. Drybrush, gloss coat, wash, dullcoat, another drybrush.....done. Here's how it turned out...
I inserted the cockpit and it fit without issue. The fuselage was then sealed up.
Generally I just replace the seat (or add PE belts) because its the only thing that can be easily seen on the 190. Adding a resin pit in this scale seems like a waste to me. See, the seat just jumps out at you while everything else is hiding in the shadows...
I hope to start on the wings and gear bay soon. Again, thank you for having me back....
Man Joe! Lookin' really good with that OOB pit there. Isn't just amazing how some of these kits practically put themselves together? The closest thing I came to OOB was my Dauntless I built around the turn of the year and that thing literally flew together! I'm definitely with you on the 190 pit. I threw a couple of add ons into the pit with pedals and PE IP but didn't waste a whole lot of time in there because of the same reasons you didn't. You just can't see in there once the fuselage halves are together. I do like the weathering and results from no add on your build here bud!!
1 word... AWESOME. Great start!!!
Well Joe, It appears that you have cranked out yet another one of your fantastic cockpits. Marvelous work to say the least. And, yes, you are indeed in the realm of the Joe's.
..............and I'll second that motion on the three Joe's!
Magnificent work on the office, Joe!
Ok, no pictures yet, but after what seems like forever I got the bottom paint on my snakehead 190! between working to much, -20 degree days for weeks and broken cars I finally got some bench time.

Man I hear ya loud and clear there John! I don't konw how in the hell I got through with my D-9 with all the commotion going on before 5 a.m. at my house right now.I've got my Stuka I'm getting ready to get started on and it's going to be tough for a bit with the time factor. Good to see you back here building though and am looking forward to the continued building from you.
Your cockpits are still amazing me, Joe. Really nice again, this one.
Are you saying you did all this in one evening? (even with all the various clear coats etc?)
