Finished up the main colors. Really liking where it's at right now.The dark green isn't really represented well in the photos.
Oh Hell Yeah! Now you've got it goin' on dflu. That looks awesome.

Looks great! Be waitin for more!
I lost count of how many paint jobs you put on that model, but every single one looked better than the one before and this is no exception. Marvellous work!
Well it looks like you have your Edward under control. What's your plan for gun panels open/closed ?
Heres where we are at, weathering close to done, have to fix one missing trim tab, getting there, Thanks for lookin Everyone!
Lovin' it Handi!! Say, aint those engine panels gonna be open?
Sweet camp handi. How did u weather the underside?
Nathan THow did u weather the underside?
Dflu you you got it goin on lookin good
Looks like a ridin hard combat aircraft
Thanks everyone. Really encouraging. Keep moving forward on this one.
I've done a lot of painting today. From the master bathroom to this project and the P-47 sharing the bench...phew...I am tired.Anyway, some mask work. All you see here is paint. The balkenkreuz mask for the fuselage sides gave me some fits, so I laid them on in a manner that allowed me to do the white parts. The black will be easy enough to mask off and paint. Note the mask for the "chessboard" pattern is still in place in anticipation for the black squares.
This is nothing short of impressive dflu. If it's a real look you are after then I'd say that you are well on track!!
Handi: Great paint job and weathering! She looks like she has seen a lot of action!
Dflu: Your work really is spectacular!
Dflu your doing an awesome job with the masks and mottle ! Looks really sharp!
Mustang the cowls will be open on the 109 that's waiting for a new decal sheet, not this one as funding for the resin motor was disapproved by the commander in chief. As for the weathering I use a quirky method with a few before steps and not many after, and it was a trial and many error deal figuring out what would work right. But it seems to always work well with RLM colors if done right... After pre-shading panel lines and other detail and putting down paint as usual and then Future. Here's the disclaimer.... If your Future coat isn't good, or "fisheyes" ect, you will be staining that area and will NOT be able to get it too release even wet. Preplanning this works if there's a place you want darker staining than others. Thusly heavier amounts of Future where you want less staining and vise versa. You want to mix a Contractors Permanent Marking chalk ( you can find at any hardware or big box diy place for a couple bucks for a pound or more ) with water and a drop of dish soap just as any pastel type wash, but ... over exaggerate the amount of chalk, put a lot of it in to where you get a slurry mix on the bottom, ( it took me a few try's to get it right ) Before applying make sure that if going over any decals that they are well bonded and then recoat with Future. From the bottom of the mix apply with a q-tip. It should go on grainy and solid colored. Let it dry completely , then starting with a cotton ball wipe in the direction of air flow. Sometimes a bit wiping is needed before it starts to release then as you go you can control what you want to leave behind. Smaller areas or getting better control just wipe with a dry q-tip. When it needs to be taken off areas where dry wiping won't work then you can use the lick and wipe q-tip method. This probably isn't for everyone, and I don't weather every bird this way, but when you want a worn as ever look this achieves it.
dflu, that is one special paint job / scheme. Looks terrific. My hat is tipped to you for your perseverance re all those re-do jobs. I agree, each one DID look better than the previous.
Handi, that bird is looking amazing.
Got the painting and decals all wrapped up finally. Did I mention I hate decaling? Anyway, things didn't go so badly this time around. Well give it a day of so and see if any decide to silver before moving on to a protective coat.
Cool. What markings are painted and which are decals?
The only decals are the slogan in white on the fuse (that mask was provide but was unworkable), data stencils and walkways. The tail code, swastika, balkenkreuz, and numbers were all mask.
Wow dude! That is just one BAD A looking 190! A job worthy of a friggin architect!!!
mustang1989 Wow dude! That is just one BAD A looking 190! A job worthy of a friggin architect!!!
A big "Amen" to that! All the work on that camo pattern really paid off!
Thanks guys. I"m really enjoying this one. I've loved every bit of this kit and managing to pull off a scheme that I've always wanted to do but that's haunted me really has me tickled pink. I'm just glad I can share. Thanks!
dflu, Your efforts have paid of in spades! The camo is just fantastic. And those masks turned out remarkable. Beautiful work dflu. It really is.
Dflu, bird looks amazing, here's our meager progress in comparison,, busied the gears and a bit more weathering. Have a good Easter all.
This looks awesome handi!! Love the camo and weathering!!!!
Same for me handi! The camo and weathering are right on! Looks just like the real yellow 2. So u have that pic?
Thanks Mustang and Nathan, actually I do not have a pic of that bird,,, kinda winging it.. Just putting the wear and tear shown on the most common areas of other 190's,,, I kinda blended into one...
You've got some sweet action going on there Handi. Very nice.
Handi, I'm liking your Dora a lot. You certainly are scared of going for the heavy worn look...much unlike me. You've pulled it off well though.
Well guess what? She's done. I really plowed through the past couple of days and got this one done. Like I had mentioned (as per SWMBOs request) I went light on the weathering here. Nothing but Flory wash over gloss...I left it for 24 hours so it stained a little more than customary. but it;s just right I think. I decided to forgo the usual dullcoat finish and used some satin varnish to keep it a little "newer" looking. Its reflecting a lot of lite here, but looks much better to the eye. Again, just about what I was hoping for.
Looking at the following two pictures I realize now I need to get some RLM 02 around the edges of the wheel wells where I got some overspray.
