Woooooooo Hooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo!!! I dont think so Joe. One more comment like that and I'll find a way to build a 1:1 scale Fw 190 and put it in yer front yard! The local authorities should enjoy that!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!

Well, while you at it, i think my front garden is big enough.

Thats ok Joe. Hannants is always my default setting for searching for stuff. And its easier to post the link so you can see what items are out there for yourself. Be interested to see what you think of those sights. I have an order going to Hannants this weekend, i may add a set myself. I have a few 190's they will suit.

Bish, You are da Man!! I ordered the Quickboost Revi 16b gun sights from Sprue Bros. today. Although Hannants had them they require a 20 pound minimum order for us yanks and that equates to more moola than I was willing to fork out for the gunsights. Yet after some searching I found them at Sprue. The fact that it comes with 6 of them is OK as I have another F-8 and a bid in on a Hasegawa 1/72 Dora. Thanks Again!

Here where I live I'd become just another house with a piece of esoteric art in the yard.

Thanks Bish. That's a grand compliment coming from you. And Thanks for the link to Hannants. It's a bit late in my build (I think) to wait on those. I may go ahead and order them though for my other 190.

Yeah Bish, Although my stash is predominantly 1/48, which I really prefer, I do enjoy 1/72 scale. Don't worry, Joe will succumb as soon as space becomes a critical issue.

I did have my eyes on the A-14 when it came out the other year. But i didn't take the chance, i might pick one up on E-Bay if i come across it. Persoanlly, i think the the Hase and revell kits are a pretty similar standard, but the price of the revell kit does make the Hase look vastly over proced.

I have not sen the A-14 built yet, so will be watching for it.

Its the Hasegawa A-14, or long range recce A-4. Nice kit, although Revell of Germany has outdated it now.

Nathan T

...I wonder If Quickboost makes some in 1/72. I know I've seen 'em, just not sure what scales. I'm sure you can wip something up though, maybe start with a square then add some punched styrene discs and stretched sprue, and an acetate sheet for glass?

There are a few companies that make gunsights in 72nd, both resin and PE.

http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=&code=&product_type_id=all_aircraft_accessories&scale_id=956&keyword_search=Gunsight&setPerPage=100&currency_id

The Quickboost ones look rather nice, but they would be a bit waisted unless you build a lot of aircraft that need them. It does make me smile somtimes when i see comments about 72nd aircraft. But then i have been building them for over 20 years and its all i am really used to. When i finally get round to doing one of my 32nd kits, my brain isn't going to know what hit it.

Some great work guys.

Doug, those guns look brilliant.

Joe, that pit looks great. From somone who builds a lot of 72nd, that is some great work.

Dre, looking good.

Mustang, same for you, looking good.

My apologese as well for being a bit absent. I have been really trying to get my Stuka done so i can start my 190. All going well, it will begin on Monday. And maybe we can get some of you to convert to 72nd. Mustang, Nathan, i am looking at you. Wink

Thanks guys... Dre... BREAK EM OUT! lol... If all goes as planned I should be able to finish up this weekend. I hope... After this I have another commitment but intend to return shortly to do another, this time an A-5 (I think) flown by a Battle of Kursk pilot who force landed behind enemy lines and was never heard from again.

Stoutfella, I've built that kit and its a nice one! I've seen some of your work and you are really going bring that baby to life! Cant wait to see the progress.

Greetings,

Having wrestled my Revellogram P-38 into submission for the Twin Boom Group Build, I'm delighted to get back to my Tamiya stash and I'm ready to roll on my 190.

Still trying to decide which markings to use. Probably either black 10 or white 12. Also trying to decide whether to go for any aftermarket goodies. I'll definitely add PE belts, but not sure about anything else.

Looks like there's some really nice work going on here. I'll try to keep up.

Cheers,

Stoutfella

Doug, very sweet detail work going on in there.   Those barrels are the bomb-I've been saving some for a 'good project'- it might be time to break them out.

I'll tell you...forever I would try to experiment to get a realistic metal finish (in perticular gun metal) but only had marginal success, until I started using Metalizing paints. They come in various types of metal finishes in buffing or non buffing. I'm still learning some tricks to them and man are they nice! They come in lacquer and say airbrush only, but for small items it can be brushed. check them out when possible, Play with them a bit, I think you'll like em too. alot of the time, I will brush on maybe a base coat of steel or stainless , let it dry then brush on a coat of gun metal, then when dry, buff down with a Q tip. What a difference it makes.

Hot Dog! Now, that's some great activity going on here. Some really fine stuff.

Dre - Fabulous start on the office and engine. I commend you especially on the very nice painting detail on the engine.

Joe - That PE definitely dresses out the wells very nicely. Your doing some really excellent work on your 190 especially considering the obstacles you've encountered. Keep it coming as you know how much I love your work.

Doug - OK, now that is downright sweet. Absolutely terrific work on detailing and painting the guns and the bays. I have to agree with you on the workmanship that goes into these metal gun barrels regardless of scale.

OK, armorment from start to finish, The Barrels are RB ordered from Ebay, actually came from Poland in about the same time it would take to get them from inside the US. The upper twin MG17s, and the wing root MG151 20mm auto cannons... The actions were part of the Verlinden resin kit I bought to dress her up a bit. I liked the Verlinden kit, and other then a few snags while trying to get to fit (no fault of PE /resin kit, it was mfg for a Hasagawa kit and I built a Revelle) I am very satisfied with the results thus far...

Well so far I'm still plowing ahead. I started on the wings with no photoetch because I figured, "Whos gonna look? I got to a point where I ordered my 20 mm MG151 gun barrels yesterday morning and that was as far as I could go. Well this morning I woke up at around 4 am and though  "What do I do this morning?" I figured I'd go ahead and install the photo etch panel walls for the rear of the landing gear bay and I'm glad I did. I have before and after photos. The first is a rough draft with no clean up of excess wash but will show no PE panels. The second is just with the PE panels installed with no paint yet. It already looks KA!! Check it out:

Ugh, I hate PE pedals..  you notice there's no toe straps?

I might kick-off a parallel Hasegawa F-8 to go with this A...
