Well hey Matt. Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I will enter your information on the intro post. That looks like an interesting kit. Will be looking forward to seeing this build.

Welcome to the GB Matt. I have to say I'm looking forward to your build as I am not at all familiar with that kit.

Mustang,
I would love to join the GB if you would allow. Would be entering the Dragon 1/48 Ta152H-0 completed OOB.
Thanks,
Matt

Joe, i just noticed a bit of a problem, but it only seem to last a couple of mins. First, certain photo's did show and i could reply to anything. Then the whole forum changed colour to a sort of OD. Now its just gone back to normal.
If i didn't know better, i would say someone is trying to sabotage the site. Or is that a bit to much like a conspiracy theory.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Doug - Oh Man I know all about the yard work severely limiting the bench time. I do though enjoy working in the yard. That is if we ever thaw out from this uncanny and very unnormal deep freeze. Still waiting for an over night low above 0. I'm not complaining though. I do that when it gets to days on end over 100.
Joe - Yeah, I've been experiencing issues with posting here the past couple days also.
Nathan T Thanks Jester. You know some day I'm gonna get lazy and pick a bird thats just good old olive drab...easy

Doug: That is one sweet looking paint job. The weathering looks awesome. I would love to have the time you do but take what I can get for now. Good job buddy.
Joe Rix: Full steam ahead buddy. From what you tell me this is gonna be a good build for you.
Joe and Nathan... Thanks guys... Nathan, the paint I tried to make exactly as the picture showed, I had to mix the pale green on the sides,I forget the RLM no. but when I got home with it, it was too vivid, and I mixed to tone it down, then shot a very weak mix of 1 drop color to 6 drops of dull cote with about twice the thinner in this case rubbing alcohol over it to simulate fading and weathering. Joe, I cant wait to see the progress you've made, Thats the two things I like to see (how others do) the pit and the engine. Looking fwd to seeing the F8 come to life. So far my girl is coming along, its just as I had tried to imagine from the moment I began research. Thanks again...

Hey Bish...Semi Retired... lol, My wife is a care giver (they call them "visiting angels" and does'nt get home till about 9pm from taking care of elderly folks who live alone. I can work from about 3pm when I usually get home till then, including the weekends. On top of that the weather has been cold, and last week it rained most all week! That equates to getting alot of bench time.lol...Now during the summer months thats a different story! Always lots of yard work and things to do around the house.
Doug, that looking great.
One thing. Haven't you just finished a Stuka. How the hell do you get to do so much on two builds at once.
Beautifully done Doug. You are doing a right smart job there.
Good to here you're makin progress Joe. Doug, nice camo. The greens look perfect. Interesting camo lines on the upper wing. Nicely weathered!
Indeed it has been a bit quiet here Nathan and I haven't been a whole lot of lively. But, I'm getting moving along on my F-8. Shot the RLM 66 on the cockpit last night and have just been generally cleaning up parts. I'll get to detailing the office this weekend and then I'll have some pics a little later. I'm certainly appreciating your work there Nathan. It's looking very nice.
Well, I got lucky today, My wife worked, no interuptions, and everything went as planed, so I pretty much got to work ALL DAY! Shes up to the gloss coat and will continue decal application ASAP.
That is an interesting plate Nathan, looking forward to seeing that scheme applied!
Eric
Hmm....been too quiet in here. I'm just waiting for paint to dry so I can mask the gear bays and yellow lower cowl..
Profiles and pics.
Fw 190A-8/R2:
Uffz Erich Keller of 5/Sturm JG4,belly landed 23rd Dec. '44. What I have yet to decipher is if the White 20 has a thin black outline. Eagle Cals supplies both a solid white or one with a black border. This machine has the 30mm cannons deleted, and it looks as though the upper cannon cover is missing too. Since I didn't have this pic when I was assembling the model, I glued on the upper covers, so I think I'll just add the cannon barrels anyway. Hey it had them at one time I'm sure.
Fw 190A-4
Eberhard Burath, Gruppenadjutant of I.JG 1, Deelen, 1943. I'm gonna paint on the cowl stripes and whats left of the old eagle head on the fuselage to hide the exhaust stains (outlined by a white stripe).
Looks good Joe. All that pe work is paying off. Here's the birds primed and pre-shaded. Yellow cowlings and black/white cowling and reich defense bands will be sprayed next, along with wheel bays.

I'll get some profiles and pics up next.
Joe - She be to looking sharp there. nice work. You know Joe, being as I work at an Ace Hardware store I could ship you a couple of 100' rolls of clear plastic to lay about your entire house as a pee barrier.
By the way how about some pics of the new bench. Hmm, now that I think about it you could lay some of that plastic under your new bench and then you could keep modeling without having to get up from the bench.
DoogsATX We've got two dachshunds ourselves, plus a yellow lab and a miscellaneous. Have to say, with the little wiener dogs housebroken has always been a very subjective term!

Anyhow onto modelling. I told you guys I would post a pic of the progress. I have the MG131 gun platform and firewall done except for the guns. I feel a little jittery about installing them at this point in the build due to obvious reasons. Anyway here goes:
Update on my F-8 is...no update to give. I've been waiting for my Hannants order to arrive, and uncharacteristically it's taking forever. Hoping to get started soon-ish, though...

Well I ended up letting them out alright. My female dacshund is 15 years old and she decided to pee in the house anyway! Gotta love em. The male is 16 and so far he's holding up as far as being house broken. I guess she's reaching the point of the potty pads! Sheesh! It's a friggin animal farm around here. My wife and I love them all but that female is really a full tiime job these days. Still, looking on the bright side, they afforded the opportunity for some good bench time.
So, who let the dogs out?
Nice paint work Doug!
Indeed a blessing Joe and sounds like you made some righteuos progress. Now, let's see if you can maintain that thought about the dogs come late this afternoon. Stay Alert my Freind.
Ok guys. Ive been up since about 2:50 this morning. My dogs wanted outside so why get upset? Instead I petted them and thanked them for the opportunity to hit the bench! And man did I! 3 solid hours worth. That's 3+ regular days all in one morning. I'm happy to say that I'm now wrapping up the firewall and MG131 gun platform. I'll post some pics hopefully within the next two days. I got almost all of the photo etch put on, ammo boxes painted and details painted. Just have to wait for all of the paint to thoroughly cure out for tomorrow so I can apply the wash. The ol dogs aint so bad after all............
Doug, that's looking great!
Mike
Bish, you are right! Sometime the deeper I dig the more confused I get, so I usually just go with my gut, PZL, good to hear from you again... Nathan, the wings will be splintered two shades of RLM 79 & 82, I think... I dont have my paper in front of me at this time...Scootertrash (me too) I know the feeling, been down since the first of the year but better now, Joe and Joe... I like the research too, it adds depth to the process, and with me I hope the pilots look at our efforts and like what they see. Research is great fun sometimes, but thats like on an upcomming project, I spent a weekend researching and compiling info, even ordering decals, just to have another builder post the same build first. Well thats like two ladies showing up at a party wearing the same dress! (LOL) Well I begin searching anew! Thanks Guys,,, Back soon!
Doug, that is looking amazing. Great paint work.
The biggest problem with researching builds is that sometimes the more cross checking you do, the more confuseing it gets. And there comes a point when you just have to say thats enough and you will go with what you have. But its still a lot of fun.
