Doug,

Really nice work!  I finally have been able to get back to mine with work and being sick has not helped my build.  I almost have the cockpit done this evening and will be pouring on the coals of the build.

Nice job Doug. You going with the 2 greens for the camo? How about the wings, I take it they are different?

Nathan and Bish: I don't mind at all. It's all very interesting to me because I have given thought to purchasing ZM's Ta-152. After this Eduard build that'll be the next step upwards in crazy kit builds for me.

plastic surgeon: Go for it. Just let me have the scale, model manufacturer and what model of Fw190 you want to build and I'll enter you in on the opening post.  If you are looking to hone your skills a GB is the way to go. Just be open to both praise and constructive critism. Also everybody here loves pics of progress! It doesn't matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced modeller. You'll fit right in here. So get that kit together and let me know all the info and I'll post you in.

Doug: "There he goes again!" She's looking good to me. I'm with you on the research. It's fun to do all the homework on a plane and then more fun to replicate it and pull it off. Good job!

Doug - Your 190 is coming along splendidly. Really really nice work. Must say you have sweet paint job going on to go with the excellent detail. I personally truly enjoy the researching part of the hobby. Although I may not "nail" all the details of a subject I'm working on the joy is in trying. Keep up the excellent work.

Heres a few more guys... paint is coming along (so far) without a hitch... Bish abd Nathan... You guys are a well stream of knowledge, and I try to pick up on your tips and info... For years I just built OOB or "fictional" aircraft. As of the last 4 or 5 years I've really tried to be as factual and close to real as possible. A  lot of research goes into these builds now, and I don't always get it right, but I do give it my best. Thanks for all the info and tips!

managed to find it, thanks again Nathan. I was hopeing the camera might have panned left and showed the rudder, that would have been a dead give away. But i think i am convinced enough that it answers the final question in a project i have wantef to do and been planning for about 15 years.

Joe, with you there, the history is what really makes this hobby for me. And i know Mustang won't mind, just being polite.

Thanks Nathan. I will search for it. I am pretty sure thats Rudels aircraft. I owe you big time for bringing this to my attention.

Plasticsurgeon, GB are a great way to get into things, but can be very addictive. I have only been kits for GB's in the 5 years i have been active here. So be warned. In most cases, and this is one of them, you can join a GB any time upto the end date. Just post the make, model and scale of kit your building and Mustang will add you to the roster. Then you just need to post pics of your build as you going along.

Bish & Nathan - I in no way see how your topic of discussion is out of line for this GB. History, pilots and markings of FW 190s is in my understanding why we are here building models of FW 190s. I don't build just because I like the smell of paint and glue (um, well maybe just a wee bit) I build to enjoy the challenge of learning about the plane, pilots and the history there of. Your discussion, in my book, is the very essence of why there are group builds. I say bring it on.

Plasticsurgeon - I do believe you are more than welcome to join and I personally would love to see what you've got for us.

Yes Bish, its from the Secrets of World War II series, found on youtube. This episode called Hitler's last days or something. The stills I grabbed really have nothing to do with the Narrarator's talking, just random shots of a Bombed out Berlin Airfield. Actually, the Nararator doesn't even say anything about these shots. Wish I had more info, I bet if I posted this on the LEM forum or 12 O clock high, I'd have an answer shortly, but those forums are boring and just not my taste so I dont' go there, even though I know they might be able to help.

I hope Mustang finds this all good Wurger info, and not distracting?Whistling

Given the angle of the pic of the wreck, i think the line on the nose is the same, about half way up. But the thing that really sticks out is the markings. Those on the pic i posted are the same that Rudel carried on his Ju 87G-2. And they are unusal in that they are pre war markings, not the markings for a Geschwaderkommodore at this period. And the wreck has the same markings.

The reason i am so interested is that i am a big 'fan' (for want of a better word) of Rudel and have his D-9 in 32nd and 72nd scale. For the 72nd kit i have a set of superscale decals and they say Rudel carried bomb racks under the wings. But all the colour plates i have seen, and the 32nd kit, don't show this. In the pic i posted, you can't see under the wing. But the wreck shows most of the wing and there doesn't appear to be a bomb rack.

Nathan, is that footage on line, and is there more to that sequence that the still of the first photo is from.

Mustang, apologies for side tracking a touch. I know this isn't directly related to this GB. But any possable info on Rudel and his aircraft, and i my attention is drawn.

Nice pic Bish, you may be right. All I got is the wrecked dora looks to be missing the canopy? And there is a clear color demarcation just above the fuselage cross and slightly aft. Not sure if I can see a color demarcation on Rudel's ride or not... How about the hight of the green demarcation on the side of the nose, are they both in the same spot, or is the demarcation line in the wrecked pic slightly higher up?

I could be mistaken, but that top one looks like Hans Rudels D-9.

What do the rest think. The cross seems a bit thinner on the wreck, but there can't be many D-9's with thgose markings on an area thats been painted over.

Was watching the Military Chanel yesterday about the last days of the Reich and captured these still shots:

Definately a Dora in the 81/82 scheme, but I wonder what crate? All I can see is the black group bar. Just thought it was a cool color pic.

Nice, shame i don't build 48th scale, but i have enough on my hands without adding another. These Royal Edition sets look very nice with the added extras.

Bish

Thats a lot of PE. Did that all come with the kit.

You betcha. It not only came with the 5 frets but there are 2 of everything except for 1 fret which is tools and toolboxes. Nicely laid out kit I'll tell you.

LOL! Bish, I have been building this in my head for months now! (ha) I know how I want it to look and how to procede step by step. It hasnt failed yet except as stated earlier that it has been a very poor fit during assy. Thats OK though, Been there before and try always to have a "plan B" ready. Truth being my brother, I'm already building the second one(in my head) right now! Take care my friend.

ajcmac, nice work on that
