I got a little painting done today -- wheels into black, gear elements into 02, prop into 70. A bit more fiddling and I should have some pics...

Cody:It'll be fun to have you around here building another bird. As far as GB's are concerned there are a few going on right now like the Carrier Based Aircraft build that Clemens (Shattensparten) is hosting and the Stuka GB that Bish is hosting. I cut my teeth around here with GBs and continue to learn all the time in participating in them. Don't hold back on showing your obstacles and foul ups along the way. These folks around here have an amazing knack for getting us through these hard parts and frustrating moments in a build. Keep at it and you'll learn stuff from here you never knew. Again it was great having you participate in this GB. Lemme know which pic of this beautiful build you would like on the intro page.

Greg:Man its great to see you around here buddy. Been missing your input and watching your build come along. Come on with it brutha!!! lol

Thanks Guys!  I have to say it was a neat change and a lot of fun to make.  I have to say I couldn't have done it w/o this thread and all who contributed to it.  I watched and learned a lot from all the different builds on this thread, so thank you guys!  I see myself doing some aircraft in the future for sure.  These group builds are really cool!

Handi, seems I neglected to comment on your finished build. I gotta tell you, you attention to detail and craftsmanship amaze me.

Beautiful weathering and shading too, mate. Display it proudly.

That's sweet, Cody. Wouldn't guess you normally don't do aircraft.

Surely like that scheme, it's smashing in greytones.

Yes indeed, Cody, you seem to be a natural!

I've been pottering on with the Ta-152 cockpit when work permits, and should make some progress this weekend. The etched harness is here, I've had a look at it and it looks good, so while I tussle with it I decided to order up the Quickboost exhausts -- designed for Tamiya's D-9, but I should be able to make them fit with some fiddling and adjusting, and they'll look a lot better than the kit parts. Heck, just a few $$ from Luckymodel, and the postage is free... The ex-Trimaster D-9 will be on its way from the US shortly, and I have HobbyBoss's D-9 in the post too...

That came out great Cody and am glad you were a part of this GB. I'll get the finished pic posted in the intro post. Which one did you want to go with for that?

Here it is finished.  I am happy with the way it came out.  I used all Tamiya Paints and airbrushed it.  It was fun doing an airplane for a change.

Cody: Your work on on your 190 looks terrific so far. Nice.

Rich: Wow. That looks rather epic with all the AM goodies you've got to load her up with. Looking forward to your build for sure. And , by the way, your bench appears to be way to neat and organized.Wink My bench only looks like that for a few minutes in between models when I do a "reboot" before my next build.

Well here it is with the decals on.  I just need to fit the landing gear and the canopy w/ a few components. I also gave it a satin clear coat to blend the decals in.  I have only made a couple planes but so far I have enjoyed this build.  Its been quite a change from autos.

Cool Thunder! I always like it when that happens. Now if that would just happen today with that 1/48 Eduard DB605 brassin engine kit for the new 109 I'll be getting in a couple of months that I ordered a couple of days ago.......................................

I've made some progress, two rounds of work on the A-8 engine joints, one more to come -- which hopefully gets them to a point I'm happy with, so I can move on to the canopy. Also, I've got some paint on the Trimaster/Italeri Ta-152 cockpit, and my fingers are crossed the harness might be in today's mail, so expect photos in the next few days. I need to modify the exhaust units to get them to protrude beyond the fuselage sides, and that's the last major job to do before closing her up, assuming the cockpit is ready. I also just ordered the HobbyBoss D-9, as I've read good things about it and it has the ground attack gear in the box which would allow me to use some AM decals to do Rudel's bird as a companion to the Stuka of his I did last year -- without having to mix and match underwing load and airframe between kits. It'll be here in a few weeks from China, so you never know, I might try to fit that one in as well...

I've had the same problem with other plastic to PE attachments.  I cleaned both surfaces up with mild soapy water and a good rinse then made sure the was a good flat surface on both parts for a very very patient adhesion.  I hope this helps.

On that note I guess it is time to start my own Butcher Bird project:

Cody: Looking very nice there!

Handi: She's an absolute beauty! A big one too!

John: Wow, Dragon's approach for the Canopy framing is insane! I hope you get it sorted out...
