FANTACMET.....i don't know if this helps but you can try CA debonder it says dissolves All typs of glue. Just test it on plastic first.
Clemens and Greg: Thanks guys! I guess I led the way with that particular update here and didn't want you guys to attempt this thing without a heads up.

Joe, appreciate the info, pics and commentary re Aires. Good stuff to know.
Thanks for that comment on the Aires set, buddy!
I'll go to a model show in 2 weeks (in the museum of military history here in Vienna) and I saw that Aires is there as well, so I'm preparing myself for an AM shopping spree (all the stuff there is about 1/3rd off normally) and I'm really thinking of buying one of those sets.
Well here's today's update. I have pictured here the Aires cowl gun cover on the right and the Eduard D-9 part on the left. Its fairly obvious why I'm going with the Eduard part here. First the pic and then some additional commentary:
As far as the Aires update goes I am overall satisfied with the level of detail pertaining to the engine, cannon bays and cockpit. Thumbs up on the engine, mounting and overall fit of that. Cannon bays.....well you know I'm mostly satisfied with that. The biggest problem I have had with the update are the engine panels and fairings. I mean good grief here! As you can plainly see in the picture the resin cover is WAY off. The engine side panels look good outwardly but are way too short in length, and the gun trough cover was short as well. I'm pressing ahead with the finish of this aircraft to the best of my ability and although it will have these shortcomings (no pun intended) I'll make it look as good as I can. I'm going to chalk this one up to experience though and give a warning ahead of time to those of you looking at obtaining this Aires update kit: If you can save the box engine panels when removing them , do so. If you plan to use the Aires panels then measure from the back of the engine nose piece to the firewall and mount the nose on the engine accordingly. I installed the nose as per photographs of the real thing. Other than that, I'm pressing onwards..............
Thanks for the vote of confidence Greg. I'm most of the way done with it. Just got to take a pic that I can display what I've done with. Will come up with something tomorrow.
Blackdog, the gun barrels are from Master. It seems Sprue Brothers carries them but Squadron does not. I am sure there are other sources, but Sprue Bros is the source I am aware of.
Joe, with your skills, by the time you get done nobody will ever know about the gluing mishap.
Yeah Greg, never underestimate a modeler. Especially this one.
However to be honest, I really didn't think I would either. I thought I was pretty much screwed. LOL This was WAY beyond my comfort level, and if I hadn't spent so much on it I would have planted it against the wall rather than attempt to fix it.
The dark spots in the center of the cross and the circles on the gear legs is red primer, covering up a patch or something:
...Also around the lifting hole above the Group bar.
Wing leading edges and gear doors RLM 75:
I think I posted a profile a ways back...Hope this helps.
Heya Blackdog!! You sure can enter another one!! Upload your pics of your finished build here and I'll post them on the intro post.
Hello NATHAN yes that's my question. I think there called balkenruse the crosses on both sides the aircraft. in the middle of them there are little squiggly lines. Now that I think about it you may of said they was red primmer my call out calls for RLM 75. And this is for fw-190D black 12 I think the info was from the after market decal kit that you used which explains it actually blue 12.
Hey you guys. Well the build has been going spectacular ...........right up to this point. It seems in my nose module to airframe module assy the other day that ALOT of glue/ epoxy "splashed" forward causing this mess( how I didn't catch this then I'll never know). I also have some blending/ weathering to do to make all of this whole firewall issue presentable.
I've been talking back and forth to Nathan T on this but it's hard to understand text only so these are the tools I'll use in removing this crap from the affected area.
At this point I've already got the stuff removed and it turned out at least decent. Will post pics in another couple of hours. I'm hoping this doesn't take me out of a show worthy model. You know how judges are! lol
Blackdog it's good to see you in here again! Been wondering where you'd gotten off to!
Good to see you back Bdog. Sorry I didn't quite understand your question. You wanna know what colors to use?
NATHAN. Sry I wanted to say rlm 75
Hi Greg I see you Edward kit is going nicely. What's the name of the company that you orderd your barrels from I mostly order from squadron and I notice the items you guys are using aren't available there ?
Hey BD, good to hear from you!
Hello everyone sry I haven't bin on didn't mean to disappear seems like one electronic problem after another my build has bin done for awhile I'll have pics up on the weekend.
Being my first real build since the early 80s I did what I remember. I have never did a pin wash and tryd 3 times on this build only worked on few panel lines.
NATHAN..... it's the blue 12 190d mine happens to be black 12 I was waiting to put the marks on the fuselage balkenruse/ crosses till I chatted with you didn't you say that there from rust my instruction say elm 75 ?
Looking back through the post it still amazes me how much info is in this GB not to mention the skill in the builds. My schedule allows me time to get back involved. :)
Too bad re the gun barrels, but good job getting those glued parts apart. I didn't think you'd be able to, frankly. Glad everything lines up for you now.
Thankfully I realize my "pocket knife" as it were(a Smith and Wesson Specs Ops folder), is beyond wickedly sharp, and far sharper then the sharpest exacto blades I have ever seen. Soooooooooooooo, just the right thickness it was guided by the unglued portion and sliced the seam perfectly like a hot knife through butter. I mean literally, I cut front to back in under 4 seconds. Both sides of the fuselage together. So I was able to get it apart, and I dropped in a bit that spread it out, just a few thousands wider then the same space in the wing. I got it snugged in there and it's wonderful now. Hopefully I can get some paint on this thing this weekend.. Unfortunately I snapped off and lost gun barrels in the process. SIGH. Time to see if I can get ahold of some more IV or syringe needles. I was hoping to use just stuff from the box, but oh well.
fantacmet So now I gotta figure out exactly how to get the super tight wing section off, adfter it's been glued one side and down the backside. HAHAHA FYI I use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.

Show us a pic of the troubled area, maybe there's another way, like filing the gap with sprue.
Thanks Nathan!
I could possibly do that Clemens, they're not all organized, so it would take me awhile. I'll do some checking on the bomb racks too.
fantacmet:Hey Mike. Sorry about the delayed response. The only way I've seen folks avoiding the issue that you are talking about is to do what you are talking about and spread the fuselage with a piece of sprue on these Eduard kits. Eduards 190s have been known to be finicky but if persistence is your game then you will be rewarded in the end. These are superb kits for the money when they are finished! Lemme know how it works out for you.
Would you mind sending me the folder with those pics (maybe as a .zip file)? I'd love to have some more reference pics without having to bother you for every single one.
Do you happen to have any diagrams or pics on how the SC250 bombs attach to the pylon on the 190s (or how SC500s are attached to larger aircraft)? I want to hang some of those 500kg beasts on my captured P-47 (what-if field modification), but to do so I have to know how they are held in place.
SchattenSpartan Nathan: Thanks for posting those reference pics of the bulkhead. I didn't know there were 190s with RLM66 in that area. Just out of curiosity: All the Pictures Show Doras, were there some A-models painted like that as well?

Thats the thing Clemens. Nothing late in war was for sure, so Late A-8s or A-9s might have been painted 66 in the firewall too, but maybe not. If I do come across a pic showing the firewall area looking really dark, I'll post it up. I literally have 100s of pics of late 190As, so I can't look through them all atm...
Very nice.
I'm noticing on mine when I put the lower wing section on(not glued all the way just partway because of this issue), that while it glue sup nice on one side it appears that the fuselage is narrower. Now this wing section was a super pain in the rear to just get on there thanks to the parts sticking down, but during test fitting the issue never showed up Of course at this point it's kind of too late, and I can't exactly putty it either, as the one side that is like this, I have the gun bay closed up on, and if I glue it up and try to sand down that thing sticking out of the fuse I'll mess it up. Don't have the tools, time, patience, or the skills to do that kind of work yet. Any idea's? I suppose if I have to I can carefully break the glue joints after softening them, pull the wings off, and then spread the fuselage with some sprue.
Nathan and Clemens, I'm tickled pink that you like the paint job on the Master barrels! It is Vallejo Model Color Gun Metal Grey, thinned and sprayed. I thought the finish was too rough, but if you guys are good with it, I'm golden. :)
Thinking further on those two-piece Master barrels and Nathan's suggestion, I can now see it almost makes no sense not to do it as Nathan said.
Joe, would you believe I used heat shrink tubing on my last 190 gun barrels, then totally forgot and have been thinking of ways to mask these??? Yikes! Thanks for the reminder, buddy. And it is a great tip.
