Son Of Medicine Man
Hi Everyone,
So far we have 10 inches of snow on the ground and it is drifting like crazy! I have a drift in the front of my house about 3 feet deep. They are still predicting more flurries through out the night. The wind is really picking up. It is currently 13 degrees and the temperature is dropping. They are predicting it will get down to -15 by morning. Counties right next to mine have declared blizzard warnings and I expect my county will do the same soon.
The whole town is shut down. My work has cancelled for Monday, which they never do, indicating how bad it is. I just hope that my power or my Mom's power does not go out tonight.
Ken
Ken, I hope you get through this storm OK! I know only too well how it is to not only worry about yourself, but to have to worry about Mom as well
Right now, we are at the 1 degree mark with only a couple of inches on the ground. Much of the big snows for Colorado are going to be in the northern and central mountains. The Denver Metro only got hit by the edges of the storm, I guess. I hear it is an "Arctic Vortex" and may cause record cold temps across the country. I just read that a plane has crashed in Aspen, with one killed, another in in serious condition. This weather is causing havoc everywhere.
In the mean time, I did brave the cold as I had to pick up my daily meds from the pharmacy and picked up a few grocery items. I also stopped by Barnes and Noble to see if the latest edition of FSM was in yet. (it wasn't!). I was on my way out when I spotted this:
I kind of cut off the price sticker, but it was a whopping $14.98! I couldn't resist!
I haven't had a chance to look through it all, but it is about the history on the Air Force with its early beginnings back in the early days of flight. It's a bit out of date as it concludes with discussions of the development of the X-35!!!! But hey! It was less than 15 bucks! They also had Marine and Army versions but were out of Navy. I might try to see if they have that one at another B & N nearby, but my first choice would be the AF one anyway.
Worked on the Growler a bit when I got home:
Finished the dullcoat of the fuselage:
Not shown here, but I also repainted the exhaust nozzles to more resemble the colors I saw on the picture I posted the other day. I pretty much had the colors reversed. A light ring with the nozzles being darker. I'm never satisfied, am I?
I also have been painting the missiles. I got the bodies done and have added the yellow bands. The kit supplies decals for the AGM-88 but the bands on the back are red, not brown like my references say. This is a pain to do in this scale!
I know there is a bit of a mold line I missed on the one AGM, but I don't think it will be noticeable once it's slung under the wing. Besides, the camera always shows stuff I can't even see with my eye.
By the way Ken, I made my chili Saturday, and it was yummy as well! I made a pig out of myself, but I couldn't help it! 99% of the time I'm either eating out of the microwave or out of a paper wrapper! Home cooked was just heaven to me!
Keep warm all!
Jim
