Will be a no frills quick hopefully easy build. Take note who ever builds this model, it need lots of lead in the nose, more acurately behind the rear cockpit bulkhead is the only practical place to put it.

I thought that I posted here that I was going to start with a Navy Phantom but don't see it.  I have a Grumman X-29 by Hasegawa that looks like I will be starting soon though instead.

On Ed's bench, ???

Theuns, that's a nice looking build. Great job on the camo.

Ed, that's not something you see very often. Look forward to seeing this come together.

That did come out real nice.

I have one by Dragon in 48th with the same markings that I have been on the fence with starting.  Was thinking of trading or selling it off but now I might build it.

O.K., here are some update pics of the Yak-3.  After some minor decal issues I finally got them on.  I still need to clear coat the model and finish adding parts and detailing, but she is close to being finished.

I don't have any pics of the IL-10......she had MAJOR decal issues...as in they all but turned to dust and completely fell apart as soon as they hit the water!  So, I'm going to make my first attempt at making decals...wish me luck!

Looking nice, Eagle!

I'd like to change my entry again. Sorry fellas, I just don't feel like building the Blackbird right now...

I saw some 1/72nd kits of an AH-1G at my LHS last time I went there and I want to build one of those now. One of them has some decals for a Cobra with a snake jaw painted on the nose (yikes!) I normally build nothing in 1/72nd, but I want to practice building helos a bit (I have an AH-1W, a Huey and a Blackhawk in my stash - all in 1/35th scale...)

That looks good Eagle. Would I be right in saying this belongs to the French unit operating on the Eastern Front.

Hey Bish! Thank you sir!  You know, the instructions are all in French, but I can pick out a little and I do believe you are correct!  Your good!  I actually was goggling to find some good pics of the Yak-3 and found some with the same numbers and markings!  And they did in deed say, it was a French unit on the Eastern Front.  Normally, I'm not that strict on exact markings and units, but you guys have increased my research of the history of these aircraft and in turn, I find my self trying to get as accurate as I can when it comes to markings.  It's pretty fun and educational!

Its was only because of the cross of Lorraine. The unit was the Normandie-Niemen which was a unit of the French airforce that served in the Soviet Union from 1943.

Good Night!  Why couldn't I find that!  Thank you Bish!  Good night, now I want to do more detail work!  What a great piece for the build.  Thanks!

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and wonder if I can join in this GB? 1/72nd is my scale of choice, and when I finish my current build I intend to make a start on the old Frog Mosquito B Mk IV in USAAF scheme, will that be OK?

Best Regards

Mark

aeroplanegripper, its not my GB, but I know our host is only able to get on every so often. So I hope he won't mind me stepping in, your build fits the criteria so I would go ahead and start on it and I am sure he will add you to the roster the next time he is on.

Welcome aboard, a great choice for your first GB.

Some more progress photos of Airfix's Devastator.

Lower windows installed below the pilot's compartment; kind of klunky-looking.

Some of the smaller pieces, painted up.  Some go into the fuselage before it's close up--like the IP and the trough wherein rests the rear machine gun.  Since the canopy will be closed, I didn't attempt any fine-tuning of the parts.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you, Clemens.

Interior parts installed, and prepared to close up fuselage.
