The answer was right under my nose - of beside my workbench.

I shall do my hobbycraft CF-18 Hornet.  Barely started it for the Gulf War GB.

I just checked the roster to see my nic has no model!

I'll enter an MPM Douglass DB 8A-3N Dutch Attack bomber and an Airfix Spitfire MK1 late.

On the bench: 1:350 Yamato + I-400, 1:48 F15 strike eagle...

Hi Duiker, you will like the little Airfix Spit Mk1, I did one some time back and it was really fun.

Interesting avatar name you got there :-)

Afrikaans or Dutch for "Diver" maybe?

The avatar means diver. And it's Dutch...

I am a PADI scuba instructor. And 21-06 is my brthday.. :)

For the Spit, I'm building the Spitfire MK1 in several scales. I have also the Revell 1:144 and the Airfix 1:24. The latter one is a bit dissapointing, but with some scratchbuilding and putty, it will be a wonderfull model..

Here is the Canberra.

The cockpit is well detailed , but allot of it might be lost when the fuse is closed up.

This is a simple out the box build, no way out stuff.

Needless to say it will be in SAAF colors LOL!

I've decided to build a Revell (Monogram) F-82 Twin Mustang. Right now, my plan is to build it "out of the box".  I've got some other projects I need to work on right now (not all model related) so work on this will be sporatic over the next month or so.

Hey TCEPilot,

New (old) kid on the block here.  First, did I miss the cut off to join up?  If not, and please excuse my ignorance, Embarrassed but what are the "rules" for a GB?  I have seen much talk about them, but have no detailed intel on them.  Thanks!

Any 1/72 scale kit will be fine. No other rules. The cut off point isn't going to be a part of this GB.

Cool!  My first GB.  It will be a Yak-3 from Heller.  I have no idea how old this kit is.  The instructions have no dates on them, but the model is molded in blue!  This is one of many kits I got at an estate sale.  I'll post some pics tomorrow of the kit.  Thanks!

Eagle, nice to have you on board. Rules for GB's on here vary and normally you can join any time until the end of the GB.

The GB's on here are usually quite relaxed, with end dates often being extended to accomadte slow builders or late comers. Nothing to formal.

Thanks Bish.  This will be my first, so it is pretty cool.....and it is 1/72!  You guys trying to convert me?!

Here is what I'm going to build.  I added the links in case I haven't figured out how to make them bigger....which I don't think I have. Embarrassed

You can't delete the privious post yourself. You can edit it by useing the pencil symbol in the bottom left corner. But i wouldn't worry about it to much.

Well, the more people we can get interested in GB's the better. And they are a great way of shareing info.

Now thats what you call Blue. Be interesting to see how it takes the paint.

Yeah, I'm wondering if I'm building an antique that is worth something or an old Heller kit that you can't give away! Big Smile  Painting will be a challenge as you pointed out.  I was on the internet looking up different Yak-3 paint schemes for about an hour last night.  Still not sure what I want to do.  I like the brown/green over some kind of blue, but we shall see.

I just had a look on E-Bay. There one on there, no bids yet, starting at £14.99. I'm going to kep an eye on it just out of curiosity. I must admit i do like the green/brown scheme myself.

Mine is a what if build and no idea what scheme i am doing for that yet.

I was thinking of a lottery style selection as to what kit to build , I ended up with a short list of twenty options and I decided to go with these two

Wessex HU-5 RNAS Culdrose 1981

Wessex HAR-2 (UH-34 fuselage with HU-5 nose section)

Bish , you mentioned once before about Hannants having some 1/72 Ground Power Units . Are they similar to whats in the pic of the overall yellow HAR-2 Wessex ?

John .

I found the same image here. That says its a Mk 5 GPU.

Which must be this one, but Hannants has no pics.

The flightpath site doesn't have a pic either, but it must be the right one. I have quite a few items from Flightpath, bought both direct and from Hannants, and they have some great stuff. Heres there page for the modern RAF stuff.

I'll sign up seeing as how you have 13 enlistees already. So that makes it a year. I'm signedup for the B 52 In the Buff GB and I know that will be 1 72 scale. I've also been wanting to do the YB-35 Flying wing. But I'll let you know more when I figure some things out.

Update, I was just looking through Ebay. The YB 35 looks promising, but not until June. So, I'm going to say I'll do the YB35 tentitively.

Thanks

I didn't realise that I could order directly from djparkins .

Actually a couple of weeks ago I emailed djparkins about a 1/72 flightpath LC-130F Hercules Ski conversion set . My set was missing the under nose fairing . I wasn't sure wether to go back to Hannants where I bought it from or if djparkins could offer a replacement part . David emailed me back the very next day and offered a replacement under nose fairing and it arrived 5 days later . This was the best service I have ever recieved regarding missing parts , so I have no hesitation buying Flightpath accessories again .

Thank's for link , there's lot's of great stuff ...Toast
