Ye, i ordered from them beforer Hannants got there stuff, now i do both depending on whether i am ordering from hannants or not. I have quite a bit of there WW2 stuff, and have been eyeing up some of the modern stuff as well. I had no problem with the service with ordering direct, and 5 days to you is damn good.

I've made a start on my two Wessex builds . Firstly I cut most of the Palva resin cockpit pieces from the pour blocks

Next I washed the resin parts in some soappy water

Then a few coats of aircraft grey on the interior pieces

I have a couple of nice Wessex reference books with great colour photo's of the HU-5 cockpit , so I'll be using those as a guide to painting my front office's . I seemed to have made a positive start on the these two ; I have been trying to get a couple of French H-34 together these past few weeks but they haven't worked out to my liking . I'm thinking of starting again on those french birds , perhaps a third time around things might go better .

Anyway I'm happy with my progress on the Wessex builds so far .

I'll sign up seeing as how you have 13 enlistees already. So that makes it a year. I'm signedup for the B 52 In the Buff GB and I know that will be 1 72 scale. I've also been wanting to do the YB-35 Flying wing. But I'll let you know more when I figure some things out.

Update, I was just looking through Ebay. The YB 35 looks promising, but not until June. So, I'm going to say I'll do the YB35 tentitively.

Thanks

Ok I'll add you to the Roster.

Been thinking about a badge. Was woundering about useing Braille. I found a chart giving numbers and letters in Braille. Maybe use them to spell out 1/72.

Nice looking copter, tcepilot.  The bigger scale types would have trouble, I think, believing this was 1/72.

Cyber Hobby 1/72 SH-3D as 'Old 66' used in the Apollo recovery missions

I plan to do a diorama of the astronauts exiting the helo like this

But I need some help.  Does anyone have the decals from maybe the Airfix kit, or the AM decals of 'Old 66' that they might part with?

All help is very appreciated & I am excited as this is my first GB :)

Rob Gronovius

I build a number of 1/72 scale models so I could probably take part in this group build.

You in then?

Yes, I am in. Are there any limitations on the subject of the 1/72 scale kit, i.e. armor, aircraft, boat, sci-fi, etc.?

Hey everyone,

Latest pics on the Yak-3.  Man these things are small!  I am happy to report I used my airbrush for the first time since I bought it......back in 1997!!  Long story for another thread! All I can say is "Where has this been all my life!!!!"  I know, in the box I've been carrying around since 1997.  Man, it was fun, and was easy with acrylics.  I didn't even need a paint booth.  There was little to no odor at all.  I had more of an odor when I was cleaning the airbrush with Windex.  Anyway, I had a blast with it.  I did realize THE COMPRESSOR IS LOUD!!!!!!!!!!  Man, my hearing is shot after 21 years in the Air Force, but that was just irritating.  So a new one will be had sometime.  Right now I'm looking at getting a regulator/moisture trap for it...or I'll just get a new compressor with all of it already on it!  Good excuse huh?

Anyway, here are some pics.  Oh, can you submit more than one model for the builds?  I found this little Russian IL-10 (from the same estate sale) and started putting it together.  No idea on the manufacture.  Everything is in Czechoslovakian!

Good first-time work with the airbrush.  And you can only get better with it.  They become one of the necessities of modeling, after you use them a while.  Nice work!

RX7850, Flying Tank is right!  As I was doing a little research to see how I was going to paint this little gem, I starting reading about the aircraft.  Really cool stuff!

Thanks checkmateking02.  I now see how this is a necessity!  I have an old F-111 sitting on the shelf that has been a "test bed" for many a paint job.  I'm thinking it will be a test bed for a standard camo job!  Thanks again!

Ditto to what check said. I don't know what i would do without my airbrush now. Once you get used to it and different thinning ratio's and the otehr things, you would be amazed at what can be produced.

Theres not usually a limit on how many builds you enter for a GB, and i don't think this is any exception. Can't say i have ever heard of the IL-10. I am guessing this derives from the IL-2. That was a great aircraft.

OK. I'm getting started. Here's the kit I intend to build. A fairly common and well known Monogram F-82G Twin Mustang. So far, actual model building on this has consisted of cutting some parts off the sprues.

i213.photobucket.com/.../20130212_224848_zps058be04c.jpg

I am actually building two of these kits simultaneously. I'm building this one plus one that will be modified for the "What If 2.0" group build over on ARC.

Hey Bish!  The A/B is now my friend!  I'm trying to take it slow with all the new technology and suggestions everyone has, but I have started using my A/B, bought a bottle of Pledge/Future and have done almost every canopy I can find laying around (and I opened some kits on my shelves too), and have gotten the wife to get me a can of hairspray!  Between all this and the internet, man, this hobby has gone to a new level for me!

Thanks TREYZX10R!  And you are correct!  I love the A/B!  I'm spraying kits that I'm not really meaning to start because I have extra paint in the cup and I will use it for this kit or that one.....practice makes perfect!

Hey Ed.  I'll be watching this build!  I have the Monogram Heritage Edition kit (#6063) (another one from the previously mentioned Estate Sale).  Of course the decals are missing from the kit, but the way I see it, I can do any A/C I want (or can get decals for!) Smile  Can't wait to see her finished!
