Great progress on the Locamotive, Meshersmidt and F-16 guys! I started building the Dodge WC51 truck, which will stow in the C-119 Flying Box Car.

Let me say, for a guy with huge fingers, this is quite a challenge!Bang Head

Brice, that's looking nice. I am pretty certain I built that vehicle from an Esci kit, it looks the same. I am guessing if so then that is the same kit your doing. I did like those Esci vehicles.

Ready for decals.  Might as well add my Hasegawa F4F-4 Wildcat into this too.  Had it sitting in a box for years.  Will be done in Operation Torch markings.  John

You can really see how small the Wildcat was in comparison to the Dauntless

What paint did you use on the Dauntless and Wildcat, Johnny?  I've thought that MM's Navy Blue Gray is too light, and have been using WEM Colourcoats; but these may be hard to come by in the future.

Yours are looking good.

There are a lot of parts there for a 1/72 vehicle, Dogfish.  Looks like they fit well, though.  Nice progress.

Bush. just the oversize insignia with the yellow surround. The kit decals disintegrated when I tried to use them so I bought some aftermarket torch insignia. John

The topside blue is MM intermediate blue. I tried the blue gray also. Thought it was too blue.  John

You're right. There are allot of highly detailed parts in this Italeri Kit.. The C-119C is just as detail and with considerably more part.

Finished putting the WC-51 together. Next step will be primer then paint and weathering.

Found this discussion of Navy Blue Gray here:

They seem to think that RAF PRU blue is a close match.  I used it on a Spitfire last year, and still have lots left.  May try it on something in the future.

Nice looking vehicle, Dogfish.  Very petite--if such a term can be applied to a military vehicle!  Really sharp.

Hi Everyone,

I'm finally starting my Hasegawa 1/72 Draken that I committed for this GB.  The first job is to shoehorn the Pavla resin bang seat into the cockpit, it doesn't fit of course. I've shaved a bit from here and there and just squeezed it in. The only other aftermarket I plan to use is a masking set, to save some time. This kit is one of Hasegawa's combos, contains two models. I'm unsure whether to do the pretty box top aircraft or a camouflaged Finnish one. I'll work it out later.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Not sure which to build since most of the pile is 1/72 scale but you can count me in with a Fujimi F-4B/N for starters.  I'll have to see what decals I'm going to use on this.

On Ed's bench, ???

Got the main part of the camo done over this weekend. Now I just have some Brown Violet to add. I am planning on putting a line of it between the two green and some mottling on the lighter green.

I am hoping to get the other colour on tonight.

Nice progress, Chris.

Interesting wrap-around scheme, Bish; something I've not seen before.  Looks good.

I had to do some touch up tonight as I had missed a couple of bits, besides, it gave me the excuse to try out my new spray booth. I think you can just make out the RLM 81 between the two greens. Not as fine as I wanted, I need to work on my thinning ratios and pressures a bit.

So here she is

Still not sure how I feel about it. Honest opinions very welcome.

had to zoom in to 200% to notice the green color between the gray. the techniques look fine and consistent.  just not sure about the colors. looks like the splotches in the middle of the left wing are too uniform. could be at the 80% OMG it looks like crap period which is right before the 90+% WOW this is really looking good.

I agree with you on the mottling on the wing, it runs n two parallel lines, and I am not overly sure about the colours either. The Germans did use a splinter scheme of Brown violet and green, but I am not overly convinced on this one.

But o well, its a what if scheme, so there's no right and wrong. I think the markings and some weathering may help some.

Its all a learning curve, right.

Got all the decaling done as far as I can go. Just waiting on the crosses to arrive before adding those and the fuselage code.

In the meantime, I will add the undercarriage and get on with the base.

I might be in as well, guys!

I don't know though. I have a single 1/72 model in my stash. It is Revell's B-17G. Don't look so surprised, Bish! And stop giggling! I am thinking of building this B-17 in preparation of the big one announced by HK-Models (1/32 FTW!!!) but I don't know if I have the time for it...

Please put me on the list as undecided. I'll try to squeee the B-17 in between my other projects though.
