So, from Russ's suggestion, and for the love of the BUFF,
I'm puting together all of the picune information I learned about the aircraft and
not all of it is on Pickipedia.
The BUFF was way ahead of it's time. It's still in service as I write this.
An airframe with its fuselage taking off and landing parallel to the runway surface,
and yaw 15 degrees or more into a violent sidewind with its wheels tracking
the runway and landing gear surviving the impact.
30, 000 lbs of payload, that's not to say special loads weren't way higher than that.
Fly round the world with in-air refueling.
Fly 9,000 miles round trip without in-air refueling.
Loiter for 12 hours over a target.
Smell like a old sneaker or camp side outhouse.
Till soil.
Make glass mirrors out of parking lots.
It's been around since the mid 50's, and now it's 2015!
It's been around longer than the history of powered flight was around before the BUFF
entered service!!
A new age of technology may be its final undoing, but that is up to modern satellites and fighters and computers and missiles and hackers to decide.
No sane individual wants a BUFF getting by their latest technology...we've seen the results.
I'll be posting a few small corrections to the monogram wing when I get iphone connected.
They are very tiny corrections, not anywhre near as the problem Major Kong has revealed with the AMT wing roots anhedral issue.
