Hi all. I got the 1/48 Academy P-36 with decals for USAAF 94th PS 1st PG that is about 40% done, does it qualify? Was the 1st PG at Pearl?

Just for some kind of motivation to build it someday, I will enter with a Hasegawa Val 1:48

Joe-

Put me down for the P-26A. I was even able to track down some decals from Starfighter Decals that will put the plane at Wheeler Field.

Thanks,

Thanks, I will do that. Right now I'm leaning towards an old Hasegawa Boeing P-26A Peashooter in 1/32 scale. But it's not set yet.

Hi-

Just wondering if there is still time to get in on this. I am a returning modeler (look for my Tamiya P-51 Tuskegee thread) and have never done a group build. If I can still get in, can you tell me the "rules and regulations?" I would more than likely be building a US plane.

Cheers,

Pete

I did want to have the first and second posts in the thread but circumstances prevented it so I go with what I have.

I like this--especially so since I built the USS New Orleans (Trumpeter 1/700) for the more recent Pearl Harbor GB; and the cat knocked it off the mantle in less than two months, leaving nothing but pieces.  If I can find her still for sale somewhere, I'd like to build another kit of the NO boat.

CMK - I recently found some videos on you tube entitled "Animals can be Jerks" A lot of them were cats. They seem to like knocking stuff off shelves and things. Too bad you didn't get it video taped.

Unfortunately, the little he-devil must have done it in the middle of the night, when no one was around.

Fortunately, these days, the dog mostly keeps him confined to the basement.  Ha!  "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Just a little tip from me: I think it would be better if you put the build roster in the first post... Just sayin'...

reading through all the posts on group builds and then the fantastic builds that are currently in progress got me to thinking about pearl harbor again.

when i joined this site the first group build i joined was the pearl harbor build of that year.  the knowledge both of the history and of the plastic was something that ingrained itself in me.  so with that here is the proposition......

beginning july 26, the day of the us embargo on war material to japan, and ending on dec 7 at 7:55 a.m. , the time of the beginning of the attack.

-all subjects are game.  military or civillian.

-all ships in the harbor, all ships in the japanese combined force, are game.

-the uss enterprise is game, she docked dec 8 and some of her aircraft landed durring and after the attack.

-subjects include naval, air, army (armor, arty, and soft skinned), civilian, marine, and coast guard.

-all subjects must have been on oahu at the time of the attack.  the only exception is uss enterprise but she must appear as she did that fateful day.

-i reserve the option to close entries when time will not allow the completion of the build.

these can and most likely will be reviewed and changed around.

my only request is that all entries are completed and not left in the unfinished shelf queen status.  the spirit of this build is the most important factor.

so thoughts?

joe

This is great news Joe!

I take it the begin date, remains as: July 26th? I will have to order my decals for the start.

I built #160 for the last Pearl Harbour GB using the Airfix kit and Starfighter decals Eric. It comes up as a nice model.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I've just found my Hasegawa F4F-3. I might as well go ahead and build it and convert the wings. I've got plenty of resin cockpits for that kit.

Cheers

I'd be interested as well, even though I haven't finished my build from the first two.  I'd probably do the new Airfix Dogfight Duo, a P-40 v. Zero in 1/72.
