I would hope that those would be close, if not identical. Same plane in the same scale...

Well, have turned the place upside down looking for those blasted gear doors. I can't find them anywhere- since I had attached them to a sprue for painting I wonder if I threw them out...

Anyway, I pulled out the Minicraft F4U tonight. I paid five bucks for the thing so I'm not too upset about stealing the gear doors from the kit. They are very close in size to the Tamiya ones and look like they'll work without any modifications.

Very cool SP, always nice to see something you expect in plain jane aluminum in colourful camo!

Cool photos stikpusher! It's neat how many parts of the world that the Sabre served in.I did get to see one put on a show in 1987 at the Wings over Houston airshow. That was one loud aircraft! Oh,cool badges by the way. Thanks for posting them and to Wayne for the creation.

Ok, first off, my most sincere apologies to all here and especially to Wayne. Somehow I overlooked posting the beautiful badges that he created for us here on the front page as I thought that I had. This was brought to my attention last night, and I guess between all I have had going on, I goofed that up bigtime. So go have a look, they are now on page 1, 2nd post on this thread. I personally love them. Many thanks to Wayne for his work on those.

Thank you for filling us in on that Douglas. That is cool that the Sabre had such a long service life south of the Rio Grande. I will have to look into those countries and their F-86s. Maybe something interesting will come up.

FYI, there is a better badge for this GB on the front page now, that one which you have displayed was only a prototype.

I just put the names down, no kits. Just in case somebody has a change of course that I miss. Roger Wilco said that he was gonna do a "soccer war" Mustang.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but I can not think of any Latin air arm that has used the F-86.

He posted it independently, in GB.But I see he's on your roster, although there's no subjects associated by the host with the members.... I thought we talked about not sticking your head out the door of that Starlifter.

Thanks SP, I'll keep that in mind. I stuck them with poster tack on a large piece of sprue so they wouldn't get lost!!! They've got to be somewhere, I just have no idea where. If worse comes to worse I've got two old Minicraft F4Us I got for about five bucks a piece that I can rob the doors off, if they aren't a perfect fit they're going to be open anyway.

Hey and welcome Lewbud!!!

Well that sucks about the gear doors. Worst case if you can't find them, I want to say that Quick Boost makes some resin gear doors in 1/48. And their products are Sweet!!! Not too pricey either.

I think that my F-20 is gonna look real sharp once I get some paint on it. The design just looks deadly, like a single seat fighter should.

Nice work SP, always thought she was a good looking fighter.

Started the camo on the Corsair and the friggin' gear doors I cut off to clean up aren't in the friggin' box where I left them. Hours search and they are no where. Kits back in the box and I had to just walk away. Maybe they'll show up some day...

Stik,

I'd like to sign up.  1/72 PM AT-11 Kansan in Guatemalan markings.  Natural metal finish, black anti-glare panels.

Yes it does. I cant wait to get it into the wraparound camo scheme. Then it will really look badazz! And with the holiday activities bearing down full bore here, I will not be able to pick up my build pace.

That is mean looking. Always feels good to get the fuselage closed up. Makes you wanna keep going full on til the end! Now I have to go peek into my box again and get re-aquainted with the Mig! I'll start full on in Jan.

Yes, those colors do seem so out of place on a Corsair...

ok, my Tigershark is back on track. Today I go the intakes painted in white. First a primer coat of Testors square bottle Flat White followed by the top coat of Testors square bottle Gloss White after a short drying period for the primer coat... came out perfect.

I am almost ready to get this all glued together now...Geeked

I hope so, the USN belts are all I have!

Put the first primer coat on her today- seems bizarre to spray a F4U buff/tan....Hmm

I would imagine that they did. Probably using US spare parts thru a military assistance program.

Thanks SP, I've ordered a fret of Eduard PE seatbelts. I assume the Salvadorians kept the same old USN ones. I think I can still get inside there.

Starting to take shape there now Gamera. Too bad all that beautful work you did on the insides is now so hard to see...

Wow, second page!?!

Theuns: I've heard the same thing about the drooping doors- nice attention to detail there!

The Corsair is together, I think I messed up the wings at the fold lines somehow since they don't want to fit that well. I built one years ago and didn't have the same problem- not sure what I did wrong here. I'm assuming that these aircraft the wings were permanently fixed in the down position so I just cemented them in place and am puttying and sanding to fit.

Thanx for the kind words guys :-)

Just as a matter of interest, look at the main undercart doors. They are drooping down a bit. I read if  "Stang" stands for a while the presure in the hydrolic system starts dropping and the gear doors fall open slowly, but at different rates. Hence the different angles I have there.

Theuns - I concur with Vance's comments on your Mustang. I love the finish too, and the white scheme certainly adds interest for me.

Cheers
