Lol! But that might be a waste of good tequila...

I don't recall Franky in that movie Wayne. Kirk Douglas and John Wayne yes.... But it has been many many years since I saw that one...

I think I have it narrowed down to a WW2 era export Hawk 75. Not sure what nationality yet though.

uncredited and a stupid part of an otherwise good movie.

if we ever can. do a 1948 war GB. I would be in with a B-17.

Jets are no more of a challenge than prop jobs...

Here is my Mirage IIIEA with the Aztec decals from the Falklands/Malvinas GB.

I liked that the sheet gave the option of sun bleached roundels and flags for the upper surfaces, if you compare the underwing roundel to the uppers. Photos from the war showed those to be weathered badly due to the harsh weather conditions at the forward bases that they operated from.

Nice!! I like how you got such soft yet fine camo edges. I got the Decals yesterday. They look real nice. Not much for instructions or placement guide but I'm sure I can figure it out. I'm sure building jets isn't so tough once you get used to it, its just all the small fidely parts that scare me. What was your decal solution of choice Stik?

ajd- a P-36 would be cool. They look the best in foreign markings.

I have been using the Micro Set/Micro Sol solutions for well 25+ years now. Just like on the Mirage. Occasionally over the past 3-4 years have started using Solvaset on the real difficult decals. But these Aztec decals worked very well with the Micro stuff.

Thank you for the compliments on the paint job. Humbrol enamels shot thru my Pro Modeler (Thayer & Chandler) internal mix single action airbrush. The only masking was for things like the rudder, radome, and fiberglass panels. Everything else is freehand work, with touch up afterwards as needed.

I haven't tried Aztec Decals before, but I have also used nothing but Micro-Mark products on decals. Just one of those things that I have no intention of experimenting with, when I already have something that works so well.

Thanks for the tip. I use Microsol quite a bit. but I do have Solvaset and Gunze's products for those stubborn Bast... decals(like Techmod and Hasegawa). Doesn't sound like I'll need the hot stuff for these.

I've been studying up on the instructions for the Mig, as well as the brassin cockpit. Looks like everything just snaps in place. Should be no thinning of resin or plastic neededYes

Sweet Vance! That looks to be a challenge, espesically in 72. Lots of small parts and canopys to mask. I agree about the artwork for Azur, it always catches my eye when I'm thumbing through kits.

Yep, lots of small parts to deal with. I've built their Hispano-Nieport 52, and am just finishing off a Seversky P35 from Special Hobby, same sorta deal for construction. PRETTY sure this is what I'll be going with, so I'll toss these pics up while I'm thinking about it...

Film dials for the instrument panel...

The PE fret...

Well laid-out instructions...

Argentine, or Brazilian???

Resin stubs...

Good clear parts...

Annnnd the styrene sprues...

A few ejector-pin marks to deal with...

I would say, unless the other two have a neater paint scheme, the earlier Brazilian one. I wasn't even aware Brazil used a circular roundel at one point. I always thought they used the tri-colored 5 point star.

I wish they made obscure kits like that in 1/48 that didn't cost an arm and a leg! You've a super neat kit there.

Ohhh cool! Nice pe detail! So these Azur kits have the plastic and resin done by Special Hobby/Sword?

Lots of detail there for 72nd. I'd say the box top sheme, and paint on the tail stripes..Big Smile

I didnt add Solvaset to my inventory until a few years ago when I had some Cutting Edge decals that pretty much ignored Micro Sol. I had step it up.

I build a lot of 1/72 stuff to start with, and enjoy these lesser-known subjects. But, YES, it would be much easier to deal with all the PE & resin bits at the larger scale. Sad

Well, I have been wanting to run an Arab/Israeli Wars GB (1946 to 2006 perhaps) for some time now. I had thought about doing it after my Korean War GB wrapped up this past July, but I needed to take a breather. Than this one popped up. Next year as this one is done I plan on doing a Vietnam on the 50th anniversary of Tonkin Gulf. But sometime in the not too distant future I will do that Arab/Israeli Wars GB and your B-17 will be welcome.

i have enough idf stuff and soviet stuff for an arab-israeli war GB in the future. even some leftover ww2 stuff could be used including a B-17 as the israelis had a pair of them in '48

for bish sinatra had a small part.

Nathan! Snap out of it boy!!! There is only a bit over a week left to go... not too much drooling now, you might get some on the decals!

Wayne, the subject choices there will be quite wide. I know in my stash I have numerous kits that would work, along with Anglo/French stuff  from 1956 Suez that will be allowed.

Why does the name Senta Berger ring a bell...?

Hi Stik,

Could you put me down for a 1/72 Hasegawa T-33 please, in Uruguayan markings from Microscale sheet 72-409.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
