Looks like its off to a good start stikpusher! Hey guys my son was hitting me up about building a model kit for a Group Build. This is as near perfect as I can find for him to start. He is 9 years old and wants to build so why not? We are figuring out which weekend we want to start this. This weekend is half over because I was working today and next weekend we are working on his science project. We'll figure it out pretty quick.  Without further ado (and he will be typing after I give the que here) I introduce Joseph:

Hello everybody! I will be building a Revell Snap-Tite STAR WARS V-19 Torrent starfighter. I look forward to building with you guys! Big Smile

Here is a picture of the kit:

I'm going to have him tag along with me for the time being unless he takes off after this and then I'll consider giving him his own identity under supervised  posting.

UPDATE.....Hour 18:

The upper hull mated to the lower

Prior to my slumber, it looked like this

Now I'm off to get de-funked and then watch the Michigan-Iowa game I DVR'd while sleeping.  I'll add the assorted doo-dads (lights, antennae mounts/framecurb feelers, etc) after taking nourishment from Raising Cane's. Eats

I'll update after the game.....see ya!Cool

I agree with you stick. Once you accept a Hobbycraft kit for what it is, and realize its no Tamiya or Hasegawa, you can do some good things with it (well MOST Hobbycraft kits. The decals on some of the older ones are really really really bad.) And if you search alittle, you can get some really bargin prices on them. I personally love them. I have literally almost 20 sitting in my stash. It seriously looks like I'm a door-to-door Hobbycraft salesman when you look in my coat closet.

Welcome aboard Joseph.

Everyone's making great progress, keep it up!

I can't get my photobucket album to work right now so I don't have a picture to show you.

I finished last night assembly.

I decided to try a method I read about to paint it all black to act as a pre shade, so I did that, then I got 3 coats of German grey on before I had to come in for work tonight.

When I get home I hope to do the detail painting assuming I can still see straight after nights.  Then when I get up hopefully I can do a white wash for the winter cam before I have to go in again for work.

Joseph, Welcome Aboard!!1 Tahnk you for joining us. I do really like your kit selection.

Pyr, your armored car is progressing nicely. That skunk stripe is all gone now and my Hurricane is looking positively wicked in all black.

Konig, I am looking forward to your finished target (all Cold War Soviet tanks are targets to me Whistling)

ajd, I have quite a few Hobbycraft kits in my stash as well, probably somewhere between a dozen and a score. You are dead on about them.

Chris, I cant wait to see your photos... PB has pissed me off more and more in the past year since they changed their format...Angry

and now back to our regualarly scheduled Hurricane build....

Well last night I did an image search regarding some detail work on my Hurricane. (In case any of you missed it)  Low and behold I found a beautiful WWII genuine color photo of the aircraft that I am building

If you look closely, you will see that she has small projections between the canopy and the exhausts- these were strips to block exhaust flames from blinding the pilot at night, so I added some from strip styrene awhile ago.

then I added the wing guns- whose bores I had drilled out yeterday

afterwards I did a quick primer of Tamiya Flat Black in the areas needing it followed by the touch up coat of Tamiya Semi Gloss Black

All ready for decals now. I am just gonna let the paint dry for a few houirs and add those later tonite....

DONE!!! with 5 hours to spareBig Smile

Decided to leave with post shading and lightening then a quick spray of mud, no wash. Most of the pics I saw while looking for reference image they may of had surface mud but very little grime around bolts etc (looked like many repaints was the case).

Only one pick at the moment. Sunlight from behind the subject making for bad photos will post some more pics after I get some jobs done for the missus.

Alright!  Here are some update pics for you.  Would have had them sooner, but I have a 10 year old that has been bugging me to out up Christmas lights!  Do I get extra credit fir that?  Anyway, her she is.  The bottom is Medium grey.  The top, well, that will be a surprise.  Letting the canopy get settle on and the tail is drying.  Then I'll mask and do the top!

Sounds like all the distractions that I had today. I lost about 3-4 hours here, but at least I am near the finish line. Very nicely done Eagle.

Great work Konigwolf, looks like an excellent result.

Stik, I've always intended to do LK-A, love your work.

Great progress guys.

I've got one more photo, it's ready for some pain once I get the canopy on and masked. I've got my daughters birthday party coming up, so need a few hours off. It's not her birthday, but its close to the end of the school year so we have it a couple of weeks early before all her friends go on holidays.

This is quite a nice kit.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

UPDATE:    the 223 took a header of the work bench....heavy front end damage....GAME OVER!

Konig: Excellent job of that T-80! I'm still surprised you got it finished.

Stik, Eagle & Tony: looking forward to seeing all the a/c completed.

Pyr, that definitely sucks bigtime! May I ask how that happened?

Tony, I built LK A several years back from the 1/48 Airfix Mk.I. But it was in the colors of I.R. Gleed's Battle of France/Battle of Britain mount . Unfortunately it did not survive the move I made in 2011, when something fell on it and damged it beyond repair. "TWO SECTION SCRAMBLE!!!!"

Your 190 is looking real good there! Are you using paint to fill seams?

Konig, I will pick one. Not sure which yet.

Well here is my Hurricane after I finished getting the decals applied

I am done for today- final touches tomorrow morning.

Either way above was the initial black coat.

Had to triple check that pic, first two looks it looked like greasy car parts on the garage floor. Finally figured it out I think to subsections of a towed arty. Looking good, keep it coming.

That's funny...I went in a totally opposite direction - I thought it was satelites in space, at first glance.

stikpusher

Pyr, that definitely sucks bigtime! May I ask how that happened?

Stik: you may - I went to set it on the box and it slid off, crashing to a tiled floor.  I was planning on taking a few pics before the final paint job.Crying  Maybe, before Thanksgiving, I'll make a stop at HobbyLobby and get a Tamiya 251/C or Panzer IIF and try again next weekend.

BTW, your Hurricane's coming along nicely - the decals looks great.

Love the Hurricane Stik, shame about the last one.

Bad luck on the 223 Greg, we all feel your pain.

I used filler and CA to fill the seams, that paint was just a quick prime to see if they were up to standard.

I'm at T+26.30, 11pm Sunday night. It's bed time. I wanted to get it painted tonight, as I've had to use enamels and I wanted overnight for it to harden a bit before the rest of it. I'm pleased to say I made it.

Preshading, then paint.

Cheers

Tony

Well I do see greasy auto parts as well...Hmm

But seriously Chris those are looking good.  (and far more recognizable in Panzer Gray). I am sure you are well beyond that point now.

Pyr, thats a tough break there. Is the car damaged beyond repair, or still salvagable but beyond a 48 hour time span?

Tony, thank you. That Hurricane is growing on me, and I am seriously thinking about tackling the IID in my stash, but doing it up better, next year. Your 190 is progressing very nicely now.

Well, at 11;55 AM local time, I am calling this one done for the purposes of this GB. Yes it still needs a bit more weathering and an antenna wire, but it is essentially done. All the side tracks yesterday- putting up Christmas lights, out to dinner with my family... even a shower! and then my bike ride this morning took away several hours that could have been best used here but hey, it''s in under the wire...Whistling I do reserve the right for some minor touch up work before it goes to IPMS...

here with my Ipod for official time stamp.

and a few more shots...

Let's do this again next yearWink
