Ju 87 Stuka GB

I'm busy finishing up current GB's so I'm all ready to go with this one.  Can't wait!

It will be coming soon John. I will be getting those Stuka pics packed up and posted this weekend, should be with you before kick off.

Just don't rush them Mike, I know that is very tempting with all these great GB's. And besides, it nice to have builds start throughout the duration of the GB. I have 2 armour builds and a Do 335 to do before I start on my Ju, all being well I am looking at the start of August.

LOL, I haven't started my builds for the Longest day or the 1944 GB's yet, and I am hosting them. All in good time.

I should be able to get some more goodies for my Stuka this weekend. The Go-Modelling show starts tomorrow and Aires and Friulmodel are going to be there with some great prices on their AM stuff to boot. I'll have a look for that Aires wheel set and maybe some other Resin stuff (That 1/32 Dora detail set looks really tempting at 20% off) as well as a few Friul Tracks.

Sound advice Bish.  It is hard to fight the urge to join every GB that pops up, isn't it!?  Thankfully, I haven't completely overextended...yet

Yeah, it's always the same with Aires sets: I always looked at the small pictures of the built sets on their website and they didn't seem to be that much better than the kit parts, but when I finally convinced myself to order one of them I couldn't believe how many fine details they manage to put in their sets

Be careful of the Aires interior sets on the Hasegawa Stuka builds. I see surgury in the near future due to fit issues.

Looking at all this traffic a d I thought the build had already started! Pulled out the decals and the markings are for a Ju-87B-1 from 6/St.G 1, France summer 1940. Don't know the difference between a B-1 and a B-2, but neither will most people. Got to see if there's a mask that I can use. I don't relish masking this freehand. If anyone can tell me the difference, please do.

The biggest visual difference is the exhaust's.

Clemen's, which is the Dora set you are talking about. Is that the D/G cockpit or something else.

Mike, don't I know it. I am actually trying to cut back and get to a point when I am only committed to 2 GB's at a time, the one I am building for and the next one. I hate committing to GB's and then having to drop out or rush a build to get it done in time.

Joe I think the main issue with any resin pits isn't so much the resin parts but the kit. The plastic is usually thicker than it should be to scale, at least in 72nd, so if the resin pit is the correct dimensions, that means the kit needs to be thinned a lot.

In 72nd scale the only one I know of is the Fujimi kit, but that's not easy to get hold of.

On this application its going the other direction with the resin parts being too small, i.e. not long enough and more importantly not wide enough to attach to both sides of the fuselage. Not building yet by any means but I at least have to start sizing things up before I go and throw alot of work into this thing. As for the dimensions issue...............I've got plans.

I have see that eduard duel kit on Hannants. I was thinking about getting it just so I can have some Stuka's in as many scale as possible.

The thought of building a Stuka in 1/144 scale is scary to me due to the eyesight issue but I'm sure it would make an awesome build in the hands of a skilled modeler with eyes that can focus to stuff that small.

I notice it comes with PE as well. Might be worth a challenge.

24th scale Stuka????????? No way! My 109 was big enough in1/ 24th . I cant imagine how much space a Stuka would take up in that scale!!!!

I know. But I would just like to get a Stuka, and only Stuka's, in all the scales. I have been thinking about the Airfix kit, but then Trump are releasing a 24th D, so I might wait and see how that is.

Go with the Trump. It's gonna be overengineered but you wont have HALF of the fit issues......guaranteed!!

1/24 is a bit too large for my taste, but I think 1/32 is just perfect.

Bish: Nah, I was referring to Aires Fw 190 D-9 detail set (cockpit, wheel wells, gun bays, engine and mounts and some radio equipment) it's bloody expensive but the show price is relly nice. The Aires guys really had one of them at the show and I asked them to put it aside untill tomorrow (I want to think about purchasing it a bit more). It looks awesome though with lots of fantastic deails.

Joe: I think you are referring to the 1/48 resin pit, right? I didn't test fit the 1/32 one yet but I hope it's too large and not too narrow (way easier to fix IMO)...

Got you. I have the 190D-9 Aires cockpit, I didn't know there was a combined set, I take it it's a new release.
