Here's what I got so far on the motor. Have used Model Master Metallic Black but it feels tacky to the touch, might be that it's an old bottle? I do like the aluminum foil look for the duct clamps but it's making my eyes cross as I apply it, using tacky glue for the foil. Still have a lot to go just on the engine block then onto the firewall.

Working on the engine assembly and it's a kit all by itself. I may try using strips of aluminum foil for the duct clamps as it will look better than trying to do it with paint. Wish there were a G version in this scale for it would be awesome.

Mikey: Your Italian Stuka looks really great! The weathering is just spot on too!

Kostas: Looking very good there! A nice, clean build!

Nice looking bird, yours is the first one I ever seen with Italian markings and it looks good on her. I got a feeling I will have to settle for Hungarian or Romanian decals for my  Monogram bird whenever I get around to finishing that one.

I'll echo Nathan on the paint and weathering! Don't cut yourself short pal, that Stuka looks great! I can identify with the modeling as not only a hobby but as therapy.Wink

Well, it certainly can lead to needing therapy, I will give you that Wink

The paint-work and weathering are excellent.

Congratulazioni amico!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. It really has been hectic around here lately but I didn't want to move and not have this done. I'm trying to get all my finished models boxed up nicely to avoid any disasters en route. I've given a few away to friends that asked and I know they'll have good homes. As building models is not just my hobby but also my therapy I'm not going to be away from it for too long I hope. As I said, I've seen some terrific work here and look forward to more in the coming months.

Kostas, she's looking good. Don't ya just love all the prep work at this stage? I don't. Smile

Thanks for posting the pics, mate!

Mikey, she's a beaut! I like that scheme very much  Thank you for sharing this build.

You get extra credit for finishing this in the midst of a move. You must have some Superman genes, sir.

Nice to this finish Mikey. Its a very nice looking build, very glad to add it to the front page.

Good luck with the move, and make sure those models are well protected. And look forward to seeing you back building soon.

Well here's my contribution to the GB. Not the stellar model I've been seeing on this thread recently but she's done. I'm in the middle of moving and I guess I'm lucky it got done at all. I was planning on doing a 1/48 plane as well but no time now and won't have a work area set up at my new place for a while. Oh well, enough excuses, I'll be hanging out here in the meantime to see how everyone else is doing. Best of luck all!

If I finally have time, I will try to incorporate it into a small diorama.

Nice to see this Zvezda, its looking good. Are you doing a diorama or just displaying it with engine panels off.

Hello and thumps up to everybody, I had been watching the group, even while not posting anything, and I like all the beautiful Stukas in here.

After various sessions of assembly, some filling, a lot of sanding and re-scribing, I managed to finish the main fuselage-wings assembly, stabilizers, landing gear, cowling panels, etc. Also, some details were added to the engine (e.g firewall sheets for the exhausts, radiator, etc).

Some thin plastic sheet was added to the rudder moving-to-stationary parts interface,to assure a smooth joint.

Also the 500kg bomb was assembled, filled and sanded (it will receive a suspension band after painting).

Next move will be to attach and mask all clear parts, and then off to the Luftwaffe painting workshop.

Friendly regards

Kostas

Well, I was finally able to get started on my Stuka tonight after finishing up my other GB plane, an F4U Corsair, last weekend. It was more of a symbolic start, as I just sprayed the interior (XF-22 RLM Grey), but it's a start nonetheless.

Scott: And I thought 1/32 is way too big already... That cockpit looks fantastic and at the size of the kit it shouldn't be too hard to get a nice view of all the details in there!

Ajd: That paintjob is looking fantastic!

Thanks for the info on the empties box!

Shooter, be aware your cockpit pics are going in my reference file, and it's not too often pics of a model get in there!

I don't recall seeing a pic of that, so until Greg mentioned it, I hadn't thought about it. Good info guys, thanks.

As Bish said, the basket is a dump bin for the empty ammo cans and I imagine the gunner would also sweep up the lose brass and toss it in there too. From the couple pics I seen of it on the net, it does appear to be a cloth bag, the instruction sheet calls for it to be painted a linen color.

Getting ready now to paint the engine, the sheet calls for it to be blue grey guessing RLM 66 but I may go with a semi-gloss or metallic black.

Greg, my guess is that that box is for the used MG drums, would make sense to some where separate to store them rather than try and re attach to the mounts and then get confused as to which were full and which empty in a hurry. The one in shooters is the best I have seen, in 72nd its normally just a box, but from the looks of shooters, I would say its fabric. I might try and scratch one of those when I do an B.

Shooter, it has been a real pleasure watching that beautiful cockpit come together. It looks great.....and I hear you re almost hating to close it up. As Bish mentioned, it will be nice to still be able to see in there (and even work on it, as you mentioned) at this scale.

Thanks for the reference pic next to the 1/48th, was really curious how big this thing actually is!

I wonder, could you or somebody tell me what the tan box on the left side, just forward of the rear bulkhead was used for? Looks like storage of some sort. My Eduard PE set comes with a cover to close it off completely, which I'm not understanding and will probably go with the kit cover which looks more like yours.

First rate work, Shooter.

I know Trump are on about a D, but I believe its a D-3. But would not take much to produce a G-1 or G-2 from that. Now I would snap that in in a heartbeat.
