Mach71 - That's one slick lookin' airplane. Well done.
I have now hit the point that I dread the most about modeling. Filling and sanding. This 107 had some major gaps. I swear I hate sanding putty more than anything. If I can get past this point, it's all gravy from here on out. Any recommendation on a panel scribbing tool? I'm gonna need one.

Another delta wing! Nice!
On Ed's bench, ???
Done!! I'm off for vacation today, so, I'll catch up on the 10th of December.

I love it. VERY cool scheme and very inspirational. Captured the first pic and posted it up on the front page. Well done and congrats on a stellar finish mach!!
Agreed, sharp looking plane in an interesting scheme

Dang that looks cool!! Nice to see it in non military scheme :-)
Theuns
DONE!
That's an interesting one that I haven't seen before MACH71.
Flyerduke Your -107 is looking nice!
Same with your -100 mailwalker.
It's been a long time, but I've managed to get a little work done on my -102.
I'm almost ready to call this one done. All I need to do is attach the fuel tanks.
I was going to do that today, but the paint on the tanks was marred. I sanded and repainted.
I have the kit pitot tube on but, I have a metal one on its way.
I know I said I was going to build some Monogram 6s but I'm going to start with this little Hasegawa guy in 1/72. I have some 159th FIS Bicentennial decals by Scale-Master that I'm hoping will hold up.
Thanks Theuns. I'm making some progress on the 107 this morning. Glued the intake halves, wing, and landing gear housing together. As the pic shows, there's going to be some filling and sanding. No major isssues so far.
Very nice! hat is quite litiraly a "sharp" looking plane :-)
As for my Tud, it seems HobbyBoss got the hight of the Instrument panel and the glreshield to high to be correct :-(
The pilot would never be able to see the HUD over it, darn!!
I buttoned up the fuselage halves and placed the seat and canopy in place to see what kind of view of the cockpit I'll have. Looks OK I guess.
I have the week off so I should be able to work on the 107 in between working on the Hellcat. Here are a few pics from the last couple days.
Test fitting the cockpit.
The canopy after a Future dip.
The instructions call for dark sea grey for the wheel wells. However, a/c 55-5118 here at the Pima Air Museum has zinc chromate green gear compartments. So zcg it is.
I made a little progress last night. I added the forward bulkhead to the main gear wheel well and started painting the seat. Have I mentioned how little detail there is to the cockpit. I guess I shouldn't complain. The kit cost me $5 on ebay plus shipping. Also, things are progressing along fairly smooth so far. I may slow up here in this GB. Gotta get going on my Hellcat for another GB.
looking good Mail..I don't use a lot of CA glue normally. I like good 'ole extra thin Tamiya cement. Having the parts chemically melt together provides super strong bonds. CA glue can be a challenge. I recommend using a CA glue applicator: basically a large sewing needle with the head cut down to reveal two 'prongs'. You dip the head in CA glue then you can control the flow.
Hey. guys. everyones builds look great. Thanks for all the comments everyone has given and especially the tips and advice.
I have made a little more progress on the f-100D.
Dry fit of the tub and glued the 20mm ammo bay in place.
The shiny spot on the floor is where some super glue wicked out as I glued the stick in place. How do you guys avoid this? I suppose it won't matter after clear coating and weathering and then a flat coat.
It doesn't matter that you ARE the best, but that you DID your best!
Hey duke...progress is progress...I'm totally stalled for professional reasons on my current project, so, keep at 'er!!
I found a few hours over the last couple days to do some gluing and painting. I glued some of the control surface halves together along with the seat (4 pcs.) and the wheels. I also started to paint the cockpit. Since there were no raised details on the side consoles, I freehanded it. Looks OK I guess. Gotta finishing painting the seat and stick.
I also notice an issue with the main gear wheel well. Looks like I have to add the front wall of the wheel well. Oh well.
On such panels I usually use white paint on a sharpened toothpick to "scribe" on the instrument's diles and scales.
Hey, flyer, I'd put a drop of very thinned out white in the centre of each dial to make 'em pop more. The paint will flow and fill in each 'circle'. If it is hard to see in the cockpit once mounted at least looking in you can slightly see colour in each dial.
Theuns- The 104 is sharp! I have the same 105 you are building. Not sure when I'll ever get around to building it.
Mailwalker- Nice start. I'm also a letter carrier. Finding time to build is tough for me. Especially this time of year.
I started working on the smaller parts today. As I dug into the kit, I realized there isn't much detail to this thing. Is there anything I can do to make this control panel pop? I have a feeling it's going to get buried in the cockpit. Thanks.
Same problem here, but I stupidly bought the darn thing for such a bargain I couldn't help myselff!
Theuns It is about 400mm long Rob, 15,7" with the raddome on!

Mailwalker you just said one of the most important things in modling " it looks good to me"
That is what it is all about, since I stopped building to try impress my piers I have had way more fun and learned allot in the prossess.
Theuns...love that big monster..how long is it in 1/48?
Mail...lookin' good, nice and 'busy' looking cockpit and you were right about the ammo bays, they do pop nicely.
Just an update on my progress so far. Finally starting to look respectable (to me anyway). I still plan on adding a little more detail, then get this glued in to the fuselage.
Guys, just to show I am still active on this thread, here is my Thud sofar :-)
