Here is my update on my progress. I do need to touch up some spots where the camo pattern meets. My question is, can I do this acceptably with a brush, or should I remask those areas and spray them? Also I noticed the lighter green did not coat as well in some areas, so I have to fix that! Any comments or input always welcome.

IMO, because you have 'hard edged' cam, I'd have no issue touching up with a brush.

Looks nice mailwalker. I really like the heat disconsolation effect.

FWIW I agree with Rob, a fine brush should work well.

I'm calling the camo done, now just mask and paint  the external fuel tanks. And here is a rookie question, how do I glue two painted parts together? Do I remove the paint from the attatchment points? For instance the bomb rack to the under wing. Thanks for the help.

Ideally you need a raw plastic to have the glue fuse the two together, otherwize it might not make a good bond.

Exactly what Theuns said. The cement can't 'cement' the plastic together (essentially, chemically melt the two pieces together) when the paint obscures the surfaces. Interestingly enough, you can't really glue much 'paint to paint' with most adhesives, even CA glue.

That has happened to me on several occasions. The CA just attaches to the paint and the paint comes right off the plastic.

If I cant get a good plastic to plastic contact I will just use Titebond.  It's a white glue type wood glue used for molding and trim.  I picked it up a few years back when I was heavily into building model rockets.

I had a small setback with the Six though.  When I set the decals on the fuselage I didn't notice that the extra blue with white stars over the cockpit was to go over part of the canopy.  I trimmed it and chucked it.

 I was trying to match the blue when I noticed my mistake. I have some scraps left over so I'm going to spray the back of the canopy white and pray the scraps cover it.  The stars on the decals were actually clear and not white so I have to try this.

Hey Folks.  Only 13 days left it looks like.  I'm gonna be crazy and throw this in, if I may.  Its a 1/144 F101.  I'm building it for a display for a friend and was glad to see a GB it can fit into.  Thanks Gents!

Oh man this thing is a bad bad kit.    The plastic is VERY VERY brittle and lacks any details whatsoever (The cockpit is closed off even!).  I did cut the cockpit open however.  Oh well, I'll press on and see what happens!   I think the brittleness is the worst part.  Hardly any pressure from a knife want to tear the plastic off in bits rather than cut.  Its a new blade too!   Switched to sanding off the sprue joints.  That is working well.  I doubt the knife will come into play much in this build.

Here is an update. My first decal application in 20+ years or so. These decals are nothing like I remember, laying right down. Plus Microset and Microsol, something I had never heard of until getting back into modelling with this build. The decals are Caracal and Aeromaster.

A little background for this is that I am making this as the craft my uncle crew chiefed in Viet Nam (Triple Nickle). The H and P and each 5 are all individual decals, nerve wracking for me as a rookie. I hope Uncle appreciates this.

It does not look like I will complete my build on time; I bit off more than I could chew by going back to school and overloading on too many classes.....oh well.  It's been fun just to watch from the sidelines......

Almost got it. Everything but the wheels, pitot,  leading wing flaps and fueling boom assembled. Just gotta get them on and spray top coat. Thanks to everyone for your patience!

Not to sure about weathering, as that is something new to me and I don't want to mess up what I've got so far.
