Got a start on my F-106 today. Pretty much done with the spartan office area. Without that Verlinden seat, I would've not bothered to show this step. But, when it's all sealed into that one piece canopy, it should be ok:

Yes they are in the kit. They come in 3 parts but lots of molded details.
Rob Never would have guessed it to be 1/72 scale. Beautiful job dude!

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Tks, that seat's about 3/4" tall...but, very detailed resin. Kind of a waste to put it in this 'ahem' questionable cockpit, but, it's been sitting in my spares box for years.
Wow, nice job on such a small seat!
Beautiful job! Yeah I'm pretty impressed with Revell's molded details...the F-106's seat is just as good and the wheel well's and missile bay is gorgeous.

Damn those are some good looking cockpits and seats!
I have started painting my 104's cockpit / seat, but it is no where as well detailed, I am planing to leave the canopy closed anyway as for my an open canopy on a 1/4 looks just wrong LOL
I used the kit supplied decals for the pannel and the side consoles, a good amount of microsol let them form over the raised detail well.
Pix to follow.
Keep up the good work.
PS. I might be offline for a few days, my PC needs to be overhauled it is so slow!
Right on Theuns...lookin' forward to those pics!
Can't wait to see them theuns, hope your computer gets faster soon.
In other news, I've got the cockpit done...
And everything test fitted...
Yikes...
Right on yg....your 106 look WAY better than my 1:72 Hasegawa. Good start and have a good time on that weapons bay!!
Theuns.....I'm DONE with my Hasegawa 106, please strike it off the list and mark 'pending'. It's gone. I can't work with this thing, the quality is so bad that I'm disgusted to carry on with it. So, I am going to try to get a F-105 (Trumpy) or the Meng 102 in a few weeks when I'm in Toronto. Sorry guys....not relaxing, stressful, so it's gone.....
Sorry to hear that Rob, I will update the build page when you got a more user friendly model :-)
Check out the Trump 1/72 F-100c, a real nice build and good value for $ !
Theuns, thanks, already have that one in the collection...that's what's leaning me towards the Trumpy 105
What scale you looking at for the Thud?
Although I must admit the shape of that plane has never grabbed me (the intake the wrong way round!) I am interested to see it built.
I was in my local hobby shop this weekend and interestingly saw a 1/72 Hasagwa IIRC F-102 and a F-106.
Definately 1/72...that's my preferred scale. I think I'm going to pass on old Hasegawa kits for a bit!
Thanks for the compliments and I'm sorry to hear about the 106 Rob, I was looking forward to seeing what you'd do with it but agreed this hobby isn't supposed to be stressful!

That cockpit looks great. Looks like your build is advancing nicely.
I was able to paint and wash the seats and cockpit. The kit's seats are just as good as resin ones IMO. The molded detail is just great!
IP's are done. The pit tub is done too. Have to let the washes cure and then will spray some clear flat to kill the gloss and assemble the office.

That 'pit is looking stellar. I agree, the seats look as good as resin!
Monogram did an excellent job at duplicating the Weber designed seat. I was also reading that Robin Olds flew the Voodoo before transitioning to F-4's in 1964.
Theuns,
Put me down for a Hasegawa 1/72 F-106. Markings will be serial number 56-0467 flown by Maj.
Joseph W. Rogers. On 15 December 1959 he set a new FAI world speed record of 2,455.736 kmph, or 1,525.924 mph, over an 11 mile course at Edwards AFB. Colors will be International Orange over ADC Gray. Decals by Draw Decals.

Gawd, lewbud...I threw in the towel on that turkey of a kit...I hope you stick with it like I couldn`t. The wings wouldn`t sit flush with the fuselage and left a huge gap that was too frustrating to fill. The windscreen is poorly molded and it`s way too easy to sand off the fragile raised detail. I bailed on that project and will move on to either a Trumpeter 105 or MENG 102.
I have always steared claer of monogram kits.....but WOW! That cockpit detail is superb.
I have finally completed the 1/4's pit, and I must admit I am quite pleased with the results out the box. A bit (actually allot) of washed on the seat really brought out the molded in detail.
I too steer clear of Monograms. I do, however, enjoy Revell Germany`s blue boxes.
But, you have to do your research!! They tend to `re-box` old molds...
Here is my rendition of the 104c's Pit. I do realize the shadoww effects with the washes is way to heavy, but as I intend to have the canopy colsed I think it will need it.
I like it!
PJ and Theuns, both of y'alls cockpits are looking great
Indeed they are!
So, struck out finding another Century jet today in Ottawa. Almost bought another 101, but, put it back. Gonna look in Toronto in a few weeks.
How do ya'll like my GIF? First one ever. Did it on: http://gifmaker.me/
Takes just minutes and I think it's kinda cool!
