Manage to get the engine finished off today, I was surprised at how long it took to add all the wire and piping. I had to scratch build a couple of the connectors on the rear left and I used lead foil for the securing straps on the black connectors for the piping. But everything else is out of the box. I decided not to weather anything but just leave as is.

So here are the final pics.

And a couple of comparison pics as promised. Of course, the only aircraft I have are 72nd scale. When I finish the 32nd build, I get a couple of the two builds together, but for now I hope this will do.

And of course, I got to eat my chocolate.

And very nice it was.

Thanks again for another great GB Joe and the chance to build this. I will of course try and follow along as best I can. I will get to the 32nd build once my other commitments for the year are done. I want to be able to take my time with that, so no more GB's for me at least until that's done.

Hi guys, I think I've worked out the new PB interface, so here goes with the last couple of photos again:

That's the three airframes with flaps painted, masked and fitted. Next, the E-4 and Has E-7 with trim colours painted and masked, and RLM 65 in place:

At the moment the 65 is being masked, though I have not been able to get any bench time in a few days. I'm hoping things will settle down in a couple of days and I can get the 02/71 camo onto these birds.

Cheers, M/TB379

The pace of this GB seems to have slowed, but it would be hard to match the first few months. That was pretty crazy.

I'll be picking up the pace on mine after my F-100 build but you can say that again on the frenzy in the first couple of months. It was pretty hard to keep up with. lol Big Smile

Hey Jay... Yeah I've noted most all have slowed, but I guess with spring time comes yard work and other out door items that (dare I say it) detracts from building time. (Drat) , But, we will continue to build! LOL...By the way, The paint on your latest is Top Notch bar none! Excellent job!

Thanks fellows! I appreciate the comments. Doug, looking forward to pics. I hope everyone is coming along with their builds. The pace of this GB seems to have slowed, but it would be hard to match the first few months. That was pretty crazy.

I live in Central Florida. I think you are thinking about Kermit Weeks Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Fl.

I was very happy to have visited there just a few days before they closed to the public early last year.

Jay, I sure like your paint job.

Morning all,,, I'm finally able to start my next 109. This will be a 21st Century kit, Bf109 F-4 1/32 scale with an interior PE fret by Eduards, some white metal landing gear and a Tru-Detail resin seat.

My subject will be Black 1 Flown by Hauptmann Kurt Brandel, Staffelkapitan , 5./Jg53, stationed at Cosimo/Sicily Feb. 1942. Hauptmann Brandel so resisted the newer "F" that even after the staffel had received and were flying the newer aircraft, he refused to surrender his "E" until all sources of spare parts had eventually dried up.

In May 1942 he assumed command of II./Jg3 , and Nov. 3 1943, he was reported missing over the North Sea after attacking a formation of B26 Marauders. Sometime later his body washed up on shore. He had scored 35 kills with Jg53 and another 145 with Jg3.

Thanks, and pictures to follow soon!

Can't make it this time to the 8th Museum. We will be driving by it on I95 on our way to Columbia to attend our daughter's graduation next weekend at USC. Maybe next time with more time to spare.

Plasticjunkie,

The 8thAF museum is actually in Pool, GA just a wee bit north of Savannah. It's right off 95.

Plan AT LEAST 4 hours, the whole day if you have it. There is that much to see.

Cheers,

Bob

Looking good, Jay. I love it when they get up on their own two feet. Now to put some pants on it?
Thanks Brandon, that's funny. I am holding off on the pants until the end, otherwise I would probably knock them off ten times while doing other things. Jay

I have driven by that place a million times. I have to plan a visit there.

Thanks Joe. I did go to the Model Classic in Northern Virginia on Saturday and had a good time. Didn't bring anything, but I thought about it. In the end I couldn't figure out any safe way to transport a model with what I had on hand at that moment(Saturday morning). I do feel I could have competed, but am fine not having done so. I am also totally fine with anyone who wants to model competitively. Once again, Joe, nice collection of hardware you brought home.

Jay - I just realized that's not a start, but that you're near completion, and WOW - I love the paint job on that thing. Planning to enter it into any contests?

Thanks Brandon. I probably won't do the contest thing, although I have considered it.

Jay

Jay: I strongly urge you to reconsider based on what I'm seeing here. You sir have really strong candidates for the winners circle.Wink

Thanks Brandon. I probably won't do the contest thing, although I have considered it. In my past life I have been a little too serious about sports for my own good so I am trying to stay away from competitive type stuff. I don't think I would embarrass myself, but it might take some of the fun out of it for me. I am pretty mellow, now that I am an old man, so maybe one day.

Well, I hope you all aren't getting tired of me yet. In addition to the E7 I picked up a while back and started fiddling with lately, I just stopped by the consignment shelf at the local shop and picked up an Academy (Hobbycraft mold) 1:48 G6 with Hartmann's markings. It had an aftermarket PE set for the cockpit rail, storage locker and trim wheel, as well as a resin cockpit set. Both are of unknown (to me) origin, but for $18 I couldn't turn it down. (I also picked up a 1:48 Tamiya P-47M for $30).

I need to stop going there on my lunch breaks.
