Star Wars GB Episode II CLOSED
Posted by Bish on Saturday, November 22, 2014 2:19 AM

Welcome to the 2015 Star Wars GB, being held in the build up to the release of Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens, due for release on Dec 18th 2015. This GB is open to builds from all 6 previous Star Wars movies plus the expanded Star Wars Universe. It is also open to Star Wars inspired builds, so if you have a new idea for a TIE Cockpit, bring it along and Star Wars models painted in a none Star Wars schemes are also acceptable. If you’re unsure as to whether your build is viable, please check with our official adjudicator.

Now, the important bit, the rules.

 1. All facilities may open for construction on Jan 1st 2015. All new construction ends on Dec 18th 2015. This date will only be changed if the Imperial senate deem it necessary to change the release date of Ep VII. All construction started and proved with photo evidence may continue after this date.

 2. Whether it be space, land, figures or scenes, if its Stars Wars it can join the ranks. AM, OOB and scratch building all acceptable.

 3. Having fun, laughs, giggles, silly jokes and posting all Stars Wars related imagery is not an option but absolutely compulsory. But please remember to keep it clean.

(Not that I am aware of any none clean Star Wars images of course, I’m just sayin)

 4. Evidence is essential, so post as many progress pics as you can.

 5. Cross overs allowed. And started builds are acceptable within reason. Again, please check with our adjudicator.

 6. Sign up any time from now until the campaign is over.

And with all that, here is your reward for your heroic struggle. But please, only display this honour after completing at least one build.

And remember, the Lord is watching.

So, whether you are joining the ranks of the Galactic Empire, or those rebel scum (sorry, I meant those plucky freedom fighters of the Rebellion) the murderous bounty hunters, the greedy Trade Federation or any other faction, come and join the struggle.

In keeping with my AFV build leanings and with my penchant for bringing order to the Galaxy I will be doing the AT-AT that I have in my stash. it's the old MPC kit that I have had for many years sitting collecting dust.

Not sure I can resist Star Wars! Especially with the new movie and new Bandai kits (X-Wing and TIE apparently already available in Japan). Probably not join until next year, though. Gotta do the Kitty Hawk Bronco first. :-)

Eagle90

Who indeed

Glad you like it guys and great to have you all on board.

Stik, I was just looking at Starship modeller this morning and they have a improvement set for that kit. Its a bit pricey, but you know me, just can't resist. But from my previous build of it, its a nice kit once done and I don't think there are any major issue with it from what I recall.

lewbud, be interested to see that one. I've built the FM 72nd one but I do like the larger kits as well and have been giving that one some thought.

Porkbits, no worries, sign up when ever you can, replacements will be needed throughout the campaign.

Bish, I built that kit when it was originally released back in Empire Strikes Back days of the early 80s. Any upgrades I may make this time will be whatever I can do with what I have onhand here. It should be fun!

Glad to see this one up and going. I'm in Bish, put me in for Screamin's Chewbacca and C-3P0 in 1/4 scale! I will hopefully be able to finish my other group build by years end. Really looking forward to this.

I'd like to get in on this, if I can find a kit somewhere between snap-together and the more serious Fine Molds.

Anyway, here's something I came across today. Looks like a scene from "Bayeux Wars: The Tapestry Strikes Back" Stick out tongue

Just this second saw it on the news. WOW. They still have TIE's and all the large ships from the earlier movie. And I like the black trooper with the sabre. Thanks for posting the link pork. I couldn't see that one as I don't have QuickTime, but its on you tube.

ok, the one I posted was not the official trailer, but I did find it on you tube as well. I guess that dish must have replaced the one knocked off inside the second Death Star.

Amazing how that fanfare still gives me a little chill 37 years after I first heard it. I'm not 100% on board yet though. something about that teaser struck me as a little un-Star Wars-y, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe I'm just old & grumpy.

Hey all,

Really excited about about this GB. I've been working on a Fine Molds 1/72 Falcon over in the Sci Fi Hard Science GB. I'd love to include the updates into this GB... Bish gave me the okay to do so. I'm already halfway through the build so it won't be an official entry here in this GB. But I'd love to get your feedback on it as I progress.

I've got a lot of the build completed but I'm in the process of lighting it as well, so that's taking some time. I'm using the Paragrafix PE set for the cockpit and engine fans. I bought resin fans for the engines and resin engine nozzles for the rear engines. The base will be made up of death star tiles, as seen below.

I drilled a hole in the bottom turret and epoxied a nut inside to attach to the gooseneck.

Drilled a hole in the base and dry fit it all together.

Also did a little work on the engine grill. Tried to make it look like it's seen a lot of heat.

More to come!

Don't worry Steve, there still a year to get into the mood. Grab a Star Wars model and dive into the GB, that will help.

I haven't been to the cinema in a long time, but I defiantly plan on going for this.

Senor, looking really nice there, can't wait to see more.

As Senor said, I gave him the UK to post progress pics of this as an unofficial entry to get us all hyped up. He his going to dive in later with a resin X-Wing as his official entry.

Right! I forgot to mention that I have a salvo v4 resin x-wing on order. It'll be awhile before it gets here but when it does I'll submit that as my official entry.
