Thanks Bruce, they look interesting. I did build the MPC kit many years ago but didn't quite finish it and have been thinking about getting another but with some extras. I know Star Ship Modeller do a few bit but that one looks rather nice.

Speaking of After market, does anyone know the status of falcon Kits. I e-mailed them a few weeks back about the Millennium falcon AM set but have not had a reply. I have wondered for a while if they were still active as the site doesn't appear to have been up dated but can't find any info on it.

Bish,

Go to the Falcon Kits website, he was hit with a virus which has affected his email capabilities. You can read about it in more detail on the site.

I have seen that Bruce but I think that message has been up for months now, which is what makes me think he is no longer in business. I might give it a week and try again.

I was afraid of that, it was the first time I've been on the site. Hopefully he's not out of business, looked like some very quality items.

Ye, that's what I thought. But it seems a lot of the small AM companies are no longer around. There were 2 more that did AM sets for the falcon that have gone. Well, with luck, the new movies might re light the interest in Star wars models.

I took a look at my local hobby store and found a Revell V-19 Torrent for 20% off, so count me in for that!

Got you added bad. I am looking forward to seeing that, might finally convince me to get some of those snap kits, there's some interesting subjects there.

I would like to join in, too. I'll be re-modifying Finemolds' 1/144th Millenium Falcon. I've had it on my shelf for this GB.

My fine molds X wing just made it through hyperspace and onto my doorstep. More research into VII x-wings shows them a different design. Indeed, spies report a black x-wing with a possible overall theme for VII being based on a rogue x-wing pilot!

Until bandai "hopefully" comes out with something along those lines, I am going with the standard red-5 for this build.

The rear view of that very same x-wing, showing what happens to the empire for having the audacity to meddle with the rebel alliance!...

Tonight I ordered the Revell TIE Interceptor kit. Not the main course, just an appetizer. Wink I'll most likely pick up the Bandai X-Wing at some point next year, unless I can find an affordable Y-Wing (not much hope of that at this point). I figure if I have one of each I can bring balance to fhe Force...on my desk, at least.

Steve, sounds good. I would like to see one of those Bandai kits. I just have this image of them being more toy like but hopefully I will be proved wrong. So do you just want me to put you down for the TIE for now.

Tiniest of updates...

I've got the engine lights rigged up and all of the fiber optics threaded through the lower hull. I still have to wire up the headlights, which has been more challenging.

I also was finally able to assemble the cockpit. I'm not all that happy with the decals that came with the ParaGrafix PE set. The colors are off... they're more red than black and gray. But with the backlight that I have built into cockpit behind the back wall, it'll be hard to tell what color the console is.

Thanks for looking.

That's one major wiring job there, I have never done a kit with lights, not sure I would know where to start. But the effects look well worth it.

I had no idea either, Bish. It was very daunting, but I looked at a bunch of examples online (though there was no ONE place that answered all of my questions), bought the Fast Tramp Freighter Lighting Kit from Madman lighting, and took a stab at it. So far I've only burned out two LEDs! And I think that was because a stray wire accidentally touched the circuit board and shorted out the lights.

The cool thing about that lighting kit is that it doesn't require a lot of knowledge about resisters and volts and ohms and stuff. The kit comes with a small circuit board that has all of that built in. It can handle 24 LEDs with an 18v plugin wall adapter. I've got 15 blue LEDs for the engines, 2 reds for the marker lights (these are attached to the fiber optics which can then be placed through the hull), 2 whites just behind the cockpit, 2 whites for the head lights, 2 whites for the headlights that are tucked into the jawbox, and 1 white hooked up to two fiber optics that poke out of the lower jawbox.

Lighting this kit has made me want to do something more involved using an Arduino chip. But that would require learning some programming and circuitry. And since I just had a baby and barely have time for the falcon, I'm not so sure I should take up electronics as a new hobby.

That doesn't sound to bad does it. I have been rather daunted when I considered adding lights to models. I have the AMT Imperial shuttle and was thinking of putting spotlights in the base to light it up. Sounds like it might be worth giving it a go.
