crown: Wow!! Whadda paint and BMF job!!!! Man that looks good!!!

Looking good there crown! Really like the colour...

On my side, the engine is done. Last cooling added, etc. Very good experience to have gone through, I will attempt another one of these more detailed 43rds shortly to add to my learnings from this! Red has already been done on some of the next items, just to do the inside CF in SGB, so hopefully some more visual progress shortly!

So - the engine bay (again, quick photo with cell, sorry about quality) as it looks now... 

Now that it's uploaded - amazed at what you can actually see - eg the Schumacher name is not even visible to the naked eye!

Started on GTO finished with BMF glass is in so is the interior its been awhile still on the road to recovery

I was able to get some more time in today and sand out the scratch. Mirrors are mounted, but had to fill a hole. That's what I get for trusting the box art lol. THe darn thing looked like a spot light so I looked up an actual car like I should a done to begin with hehehe. Even got the body shot in primer.

Thanks E.  Your off to a good start.  Nothing like a Hemi to break a slump.

Funny how those pics turned out, it looks good in silver. lol

I'll be interested to hear how you do that dash up.  My dash skills are weak.

I gotta find a place up north where I can get that scale finishes paint.  The best stock colours, should be a good one.

I have been working on a Fujimi Honda Integra Type r, and that newer amt 76 Gremlin.  Retro.  Light 70s AM radio :)

Gordy, That's a fine 49' hehehehe.

Finally getting out of my builders slump and started on a 70 Roadrunner. Paint is going to be Ivy Green from Scalefininshes.

Put a scratch along the side from sanding. Seems I was pushing to much with my thumbnail and cut a groove with the sandpaper. Model bondo hehehe.

Got the dash drilled out, just need to clean them up a little. Found somelarge image gauges on the internet I'm going to use.

Got the engine and trans painted, just need to do the little bits.

Got the undercarriage painted. I used foil on the tips, but don't like the way they came out so I'm going to peel it off and shoot them with alclad. Also drilled out the tips with a dremel.

Also painted the beginnings of the interior. The paint is black but it faded from the flash.

 

Well, that's it for now.

Worked on getting the interior to fit in the cab it was a little to wide to fit all the way in an also worked on getting the firewall trimmed to fit as well. Added the battery boxes. I'm de-chroming the fuel tanks they will be black to match the frame.

I realized today that the AMT Frightliner has the rear surspension that the reference truck has so I went over to Hobby Lobby and picked one up and made the change out. Also more work on the engine and with paint.

That decal was pretty easy, or I got lucky -no flipping or wrinkling.  She just slid in there like she wanted to be there.

Well…..after duking it out with this kit for the better half of ten months and often times getting my butt handed to me on a less than silver platter I’ve finally brought this build to a close.  I used a total of five kits to bring this thing together .

I used the 429 Boss and the hood scoop from Revell’s  1970 Boss 429 Mustang kit with PE and resin aplenty. I’ve seen a lot of folks make their own return springs for the throttle but I chose a light bulb filament from a 1:1 scale 3157 turn signal bulb to replicate this feature. Updated chrome and other cleaned up parts were used from the latest release of this F-100 from Revell, a few updated interior parts from Monogram’s  ’55 Ford F-100 and finally a second copy of the Street Demons F-100 that had the chassis already built from the previous owner to aid in mock ups and suspension upgrades. I used PE , resin parts and aluminum parts from numerous vendors. Wheels are from Competition Resins and have a coat of Alclad on ‘em.  Front tires are from AMT’s aftermarket tire set and rear tires are OOB. Brake lines and distribution block were all fabricated, the master cylinder was robbed from a kit that I had left over as a kid and the disc brake calipers were from the Monogram 55 F-100. Brake rotors were flat steel washers I found at work and ground down one side so the calipers would hug down to the rotor in a normal fashion. Exhaust system was scratchbuilt from solder with AM aluminum mufflers and the tips were  from aluminum stock that I got from HL that were spun up on a drill and polished to a high shine.  The interior was a lot of fun on this one as well with whatever PE I could find and a set of fuzzy dice hangin’ from the mirror to top it off. The bench seat is from the Monogram 55 F-100 as I have never been able to stand either seat option in the Revell offering. The paint as well as the clear coat are all Model Master enamel. Flame application was easier due to Anarchy Models flame masks.

 I stayed with the original Street Demons idea to give tribute and decided to make the flames a slightly darker red than the body color but keep the “Demons” logo in the rear window and the “Demon 3” license plate up front.  All in all it was definitely an educational and fun build for me with all the mods. This was my first all out attempt with achieving a glossy paint job and so far I’m happy with the outcome but know I can do better in future building.

I've started on the Detroit diesel engine from the Pete that has a lot of chrome parts that I have in for stripping. I also cut the hood from the cab. The interior and the firewall are going to need a lot of rework to fit right. Going through my parts boxes I found one exhaust stack support but don't have one for the other side. If anyone has one of these supports and willing to sell or,trade it would be appreciated. The support is from the Chevy Astro. See picture.

Gord: That 49 looks awesome!!!! How were those flames to put on?? I have never had any luck with decal flames as they either fold or wrinkle. Under the hood looks clean!!!! Lemme know what picture you want on the cover.

Eric: I hear ya loud n' clear on the 53. I've had several bouts with my 56 F-100 like that. Looking forward to that Roadrunner!!!

Seabe: OUTSTANDING work on that panel!!!! Wow. With the mirrors I've got a tip I'll share with you later on mounting those.

Took a big and nervy step... Found an outlet closed and for the first time ever, other than thinning down, tried my hand at improving a Tameo. Must admit, I was filled with doubt, but it came out okay, I think. Good improvement. Some of the thinning which I started also evident in the shots.

Then opened the duct... I think it's a good result. Only now realised - with the fingers in shot, the scale is so much more obvious!

Seabe nice progress on your F310B. 

Started buffing out the clear coat and found that it is still not cured hard yet on the body. Was able to do the top and hood. I've test fit the body on the chassis with the interior glued in place and it has a nice tight fit.

Good to still see some action! Back and up and running again. Though with little time and a disk on my computer that is giving problems. So here's to hoping, being checked - again...:( - as I "speak". 

 

Progress to the F310B. Oh heck, seems to be jynxed! Small medical emergency as my daughter has just been stung by a bee! Never a dull moment!  

Back to the 43rd F310B. I could do some progress on the engine compartment. Not perfect, but I'm learning a lot. Also started prepping some of the body parts, such as lower sidepad covers, front wing endplates and the barge boards.

Onto the actual engine progress - excuse quality, was taken with cell otherwise pic processing will just cause more delays! Yes, the one mirror broke off AGAIN and I decided to leave it off untill the end...

Merry Christmas boys! 

I had four days in a row off this week and was able to rise to the challenge of completing the 49 Mercury Custom in 2015.  This was a great kit, good detail, everything fit nice and it looks great.  Speaking of looks, heres the pics.

So that's her.  My goal with this build was to achieve a shine which I did.  I've never done a decal as large as those flames and they turned out pretty good too.  *The "lake pipes" are just tacked onto the body edges, you can see the glue drying in the last photo.  They also do not run up to meet the exhaust manifolds. For anyone building this in the future, I think your supposed to run the stock exhaust as well as the lake pipes for full effect.

So that wraps up 2015 for me and this group build.  It was a lot of fun, I learned a lot, was inspired and came away a better builder.  It's also nice to not have to roll anything over this year.

I have the clear coat on now and working to buff it out and decided to add some more hoses and wires in the engine compartment. Plan to have her finished by the end of the year.

While I'm waiting on the clear coat to cure I've started on the Bighorn. 

Started some work on the frame and going through my parts boxes for some fuel tanks. I couldn't find a Detroit diesel so I picked up the AMT Pete at HL today with some Christmas money. I've cut the frame and have a mock up of how short the wheel base is going to be. It measures out to scale 140". I'm going by a couple old pictures.

I decided not to roll over the curent build list for the new GB. I'm gonna start a new one and my first build will be a Monogram 1970 Roadrunner. It will be box stock to get me out of my builder's block lol. I've already started cleaning the parts and orderd the Ivy green paint for it.

I'm giving up on the 53 until later in the summer when I'm not so inclined to launch it in no particular direction hehehehehe.

Joe starting another build here's the information on it. Will be finishing the Satellite very soon just sprayed the clear coat today. 

This is a Fonters resin Dodge Bighorn and the Diamon RIO for the donor. My plans are to build like 1 of the 2 that Chrysler built before pulling out of the class 8 rigs back in the mid 70's. The Shortnose never made it production. I'm going with a 134" wheel base and a blue and black paint. Here's what I'm starting with.
