Hey Fellas, long time-no see.

I don't have anything new to add but wanted to check in and say that everyone's work is looking amazing.  Keep it up.  I get everyone's updates to my phone so I've been ablr to keep up with out visiting the site.  The new site looks pretty cool.

I should have something to share in a couple days.  The yard work is done and the wind is up so the hobby room is calling.

I love doing these group builds but I'm not sure that I'm able to contribute as much as is required.  I work a lot and get an hour here and a half hour there to play with my plastic cars so my update efforts remain weak.

Ah well, such is life.  I'm still working on the 65 Chevelle wagon and started a big Chevy monster truck.  I thihk I may shelve the truck for a while.  My airbrush broke and I haven't replaced it yet and this big sucker has so much to paint, I'm not feeling brushing it all.  I've been jonsin' to build a plane lately and I have a p51, a hamp zero, and a 109 in the stash.

I need to go back and reread where I last left off, I'm not sure I shared my completed 67 Impala.  I may have something decent to share after all.

Keeper sticky side down boys.

Gord

Thanks crown, Seabe and Oscar!!!

Oscar: Keep goin' and I'm going to mail you a kit. lol . Good to see you man.

I worked through the drivers door hinge to where the door opens and closes well with little sagging when opening the door. The next obstacle that I had to go through was to make the door stay shut. I've heard of the use of magnets to accomplish this so I started thinking....."How am I going to pull this off and make all this look legit ?". :hmm: I came up with the following: I need a fire extinguisher in the cab anyways so I took out my pocket screwdriver from work and removed the magnet from the top.

Image

I needed a fire extinguisher from another kit so I turned to my AMT 1994 Mark Martin Valvoline kit for that. I cut the top and bottom off just to the inside of each retaining strap so that when this is all glued together it'll look ok.

Image

This will go upright in the L/H rear corner of the cab after being assembled and painted. I had to remove the drivers door trim panel and come up with a metal strip that I could fit inside the door along the rear door jamb area in which to "latch" onto the magnet/ fire extinguisher just inside the cab. I came up with a trim panel retainer and cut a strip off from it and glued it on the inside the door and reinstalled the drivers door trim panel back. This outta do..........

Image

I tested it several times and it works great so now I can press ahead to the completion of this thing hopefully.

Have to agree there - beaut of a job on that chrome work!

Very slow progress on my side. Some minor bits painted and nothing fitted, added some decals. Ran my first marathon this weekend. Must sssslllleeeeeeeeep...

Wow, amazed to feel my legs reasonably okay, relative to say the 21k trail run we did the weekend before. But man, I'm dog tired a day and two days after the race. Now I know...

Thanks crown! All in all this old Revell kit has got to be among the worst fitting kits I've seen yet. I'm sure there's others but this one is among 'em. I've got fit issues with the windshield and the doors as well as inner fender wells that have thrown me off track but I keep chuggin' along nevertheless. The BMF adventure turned out ok and I managed to get the passenger side door shoe horned in there and got it to look half decent. I messed with the photos to bring the red out as close to what it actually is here..

I'm getting an idea for a future build from this color. I can't tell anything bad about that BMF from the pictures you posted. Did the BMF just not lay down right? I've come to use photos as a true building aid as they don't lie especially with the macro setting. I've walked away from a few building sessions very frustrated but at least knowing what to fix after taking a few macro shots. lol

And the registration decals are on.............................

Image

The top of the plate is a little uneven but there aint no way to see it with normal vision. I need 1.5x corrected vision normally and I couldn't tell with the glasses on. I did some more work on the passenger door hinges as far as paint goes but progress was a little slow this morning.

Dang Seabe! That does look good. Are the radiators going to be visible at all on the Williams? Great progress on the F310B as well and I like that exhaust staining. Man ...43rd scale eh? Good to see you're back at it again and lookin' forward to more. Yes

Crown: Thanks for reminding me on that. Got it covered....

Okay, so here's the pics! The Williams shot shows that the heat shield can do with another layer, so will get to that! At least it's accessible... But here is the initial join of everything. But for this, I did progress a little with some electronic boxes, started with the rear wing and some initial decals on the body and the sidepods.

Don't be too harsh on the F310B - remember it is 43rd scale!

Front end decalled:

...and the exhausts with some staining.

And that's where I'm at at this stage. Feel better having progressed a bit, esp on the Williams. Getting into it again... slowly but surely!

Airplanes....man it's gonna be hard to transition back to that. lol

I was applying BMF to the passengers door window trim and looked over at the truck bed and realized I haven't posted any pictures of the wood planks and mini wheel tubs that I fabricated in the bed yet. I figured I'd get that posted up this morning.
