Thanks Joe.  I made more progress today.  About 3.5 hours of base coat/clear coat.

I picked up some more paint today after running a little short yesterday.  I love this color, but thought it would look better lightened up a little bit.  I added some silver to lighten it up and give it a little more metallic.  Now I really like the color.  2 more base coats followed 6-7 coats of clear on this one.  Base color is Model Master Teal Metallic (mixed with silver) and the clear coat is Tamiya, as usual.  This thing is VERY WET and will need a good week to dry out.  Just in time to relax on Easter weekend, I wish...

Dan - just means another day of base coat/clear coat.  That's the byproduct of over-thinning.  Coverage sucks!

Tim - Your paint looks good so far yea just hate it when you run out of paint in the middle of spraying.

Joe - Nice progress. Here's something else to think about ..... Flip hood. One of the MPC issued kits had that set up makes for a different look and allows you to show off all your great detailing

Shot some base coat tonight... I over-thinned it (that's a first) and ran out of paint (that's not a first).  Oh well, I'll pick some more up tomorrow and throw a couple of more coats on it.  That will give me the chance to get rid of a couple of specs of dust.  Don't mid the orange peel... it won't be there after the clear and wetsand and polish.

It's going to be in this case. I just couldn't leave a gaping hole in the hood.Indifferent

good idea on the hood, i expect that is the reason why hoods have those scoops, so it makes sense! Yes

Steve: That's a great looking finish on that Challenger man!! I know what you're talking about with trying to get red to behave right for the camera. Most of my Challenger photos almost passed for pink! lol

Fred: That Camaro build is fantastic!! The level and detail and shine are flooring!!! Yes

Seabe: All of that detail.....in 43rd scale? This is truly some good stuff!

Dan: I've gotta say, you've done it again with the striking results on your paint work. That purple is awesome!!!

Tony: Those wheels and tires look the "worn" part!!! Love it!

Mike: That is definitely a vintage kit! I'm looking forward to seeing you work your magic on this one!

With the carburetors interfering with the hood fit I'm going to have to make a cut out in the hood but.....I aint gonna just leave it a hole. I robbed this 429 Boss hood scoop from the Mustang kit boxing that looks to work perfect. It's growin' on me by the second!!!

I've got most of the frame and suspension set up the way I want it. I'm not as far along as what I wanted to be but I'm one heck of a lot further than what I was. I kept the front suspension OOB for two reasons: 1) I wanted to keep it that way for nostalgia's sake and 2) in keeping it OOB it made things a lot easier so I'll be able to concentrate most of my efforts on under the hood the same way I did my recent Challenger build( Oh man! This is gonna take forever!!)

Really nice collection Misty, I am envious. What a shame it is that Jordan finished up. Good luck with that Lotus, I built the same car in 1/20 last year.

I'll tell ya,  it's awesome to see this GB still going so strong - great builds by a lot of great guys, plus great hosts, and a great subject! Yes

I'd  just finished up the 'pit for my 109 and was about to take some pics and post 'em when this bad boy showed up at the door......

Needless to say, it looks like I'll be sticking around this GB for a while longer as the 109 gets put on hold. Wink  Gonna take everything I learned on my previous build plus the loads of top notch info and tips you all have given and try to knock this one right over the green monster in left!

Nice color choice Dan, it was unexpected but I like it.

At last a progress shot of my Williams, but it's only the wheels.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Okay, expect bad weather - update WITH PICS...

Firstly, the requested Jordan gang. Like I said, some built many a year ago, so excuse the quality! Also, don't know what it was that made the 197's front wheels look so wonky - maybe just the light.

The P23 engien progrssed, then I wanted to add the very rear section to the gerabox... only find the exhausts being too long. Both sides. Hmmm... it almost looked like a spacer was missing. And I don't know if I mention the very weird and non-secured (for such a crucial join) fit the gearbox had onto the engine. Went back into the instructions to find... I missed a part! Which meant literally breaking apart the gb and engine. So it is not going back together as it should, I feel a bit miffed by that, but too bad.
However, while I was re-doing everything, I started with the first decals! Rear wing decalled below, will still smooth it out properly. The elf on the blue immediately made me think back to the Jackie Stewart era! Classic...

The Lotus.... I knew this will turn out to be a PITA. A lot of filing and cleaning later on the initial bunch of parts - and a dry standing in their places reveiled that I managed to get it all in place at least, after some parts needed some convincing. And other fit too loose! Yes, the rear wing fits into the hole it's supposed to - just won't balance on it's own for the shot!

The front wing, a perfect example of the bad fit. This is supposed to fit smoothly into the upper body inside a slot, with the front bit slipping in behind the nose. Does it look like it is fitting? But, I knew it was going to be an interesting one, just wanted to show an example. Some more filing to be done, let the creative juices flow...

Have a super week, everybody, happy building!

Steve - let me know if you need any reference pictures for your Challenger

More progress today finished up the interior, added some BMF on the window frame, installed the exhaust and was able to get the back section painted with primer. I've got the plum crazy purple decanted and airing out. I plan to get the air brush out tomorrow and get some color. I've got the stacks pinned and are free standing just have a little tape to keep them lined up.

I'd like to join up if I could.  Revellogram 1/25 1969 Camaro convertible.  In the Pace Car markings.

Here's a pic right before the second coat of clear. This red... it doesn't come across quite the same on the computer, but man I love it. Beautiful color.

Joe - thanks I'm going to try but it is going to be close. I like your idea of the hood scoop instead of just having the carbs stick out. But here is something else to think about if you add some of your super detailing to the carbs and intake manifold you would be able to see the details with out a scoop all the time.

Man that thing just looks better and better every time I see it Dan!!! Are you shooting to have this done by the time of the show?

I've pondered the possibilities on a hood scoop and this 429 Boss scoop keeps growing on me....

and yes Dan...................I think I'm going to add nitrous. I've got a bottle and the mounting brackets.
