Japanese Group Build V

RULES

*Start Date January 1st, 2016

*End Date December 31st, 2016

*Japanese subjects which I'll define as operating under the Japanese flag, aka a captured P-40 flown by a Japanese pilot would be kosher

*Cross-overs are welcome

*Pre-started are fine as long as they're under 10-20% finished (light assembly)

*Any 'roll-over' subjects from Part IV are welcome

*No cut-off date for entry, you can enter on Dec 30 if you can build the model in a day

And most important have fun guys and gals!

First my apologies for taking this long to get them posted.

Second, big thanks to Rock Baker for the original artwork and to Jgeratic for whipping out a first class badge!

Wayne, I knew you would eventually join up with something JGSDG Wink. If I could afford it I would build the Mogami or Tone.

I've been away from this forum for quite some time but I'd be willing to jump in on a Group Build. :)

Wrinkledm: Cool, it's not that much involved, just post updates every now and again and join in the fun.

Wayne: Sounds cool, always good to have you along. If you have any ideas on a badge great. I was thinking of talking to an artist friend about him drawing up Godzilla building a Zero...

PS: I'm going to see about posting some notes to the rest of the forum later this week or weekend to try to drum up a little more interest. I've noticed stuff just posted here never seems to build up any momentum.

Since you are going to allow "rollovers", I'll see if I can get the paint failures fixed and finish the "surrender" Betty from part IV.  Will give me some incentive to get her done.

Not sure it matters Gam, the Japanese GB has sort of become a staple, one just expects it. Although it wouldn't hurt as a reminder that a new one is starting.

Goldhammer: Sure, it's always been more about people getting stuff build than rules. I'd love to see her all done up.

Steve: Yeah I guess it has become sort of a staple here. Gee, number five! I remember the trepidation I had on starting number one and all the trying to figure stuff out and the help I got.

Still a little advertising shouldn't hurt, I kinda feel like I'm pushing things sometimes.

PS: I'm not even sure what I'll be doing - probably either a Hasegawa 1/48th JASDF F-15 or the shiney new Type 10 MBT I picked up recently.  Then again Toshi seduced me into picking up the Tamiya 1/32nd Model 51 Zero which I have on order at HLJ but hasn't come in yet. Any opinions guys???

I'm kinda thinking of another ship. I'm looking for something interesting although I doubt I can top the Musashi wreck. Maybe a cruiser or carrier in 1/700. I prefer 1/350 but they are so dag gum expensive.

I'd love to see another Steve, ships are so cool but I don't have the guts to get into one.

Funny you mentioned your Musashi wreck, when Real G brought up James Bond models the other day I thought about trying to build a Vulcan bomber lying on the bottom of the Carribean with Largo's men stealing the nukes from 'Thunderball'. Then again considering how I never seem to finish anything there's no way in hades I need to start something that involved!

Do you believe as much as I like Japanese subjects, I don't have a single ship in the stash.

Gam,

Maybe you need to advertise the new GB as "** NEW** Japanese Group Build V". As it is, it looks too much like Japanese Group Build IV, so some may gloss right over the listing. In fact, the only reason I knew you had a new build was I had a new email notification on the Group Build forum.

Gam,
At this time, I will be building a 1/48 Hasegawa Rufe for the Floatplane build, probably with it in the water by a dock or shoreline. If it's OK with you I would like to crossover with that. If I have time further in the year I would like to jump in with something else...maybe a ship at that time.

Hey Steve, that's fine. I wish I could join the floatplane build but I really am trying to cut down on joining GBs this year. Maybe later when I'm caught up I'll join you guys. I'll go put down the Rufe now.

I've got so many choices of WWII & contemporary Japanese aircraft that I can hear them laughing. Put me down as a TBD, Gamera, and I'll see which kit fall off the shelf after the Holidays! Mike

A Type 3 Chi-Nu tank in 1/35 by Fine Molds.

G a few more of these builds I'll run out of Japanese tanks to build and be forced into a Zero...

Thanks again, Terry
