Allan the Haruna looks awesome! Very nice detailing!
Josiah your Zeke looks great! Very clean build
Gam that office is shaping and coloring up nicely!!
Anyway after six ever-loving months finally I have some photos. I thought they looked pretty good but the photos didn't come out that well. Sigh, I'm not repainting the thing though...

Josiah: Nice clean sharp build there.
Ready for me to post her?
Finally got some time at the bench and finished this one up. The base is made out of sprue that I bent and painted to hold it.

Thank you gents for your kind words! And thank you Gamera for the post. :)
The Haruna actually got me in the mood to start my other JMSDF ships in the stash. Maybe after I finish the 14 year old hangar queen on my bench... lol
No bucks, no Buck Rogers
Allan, that is one sweet looking ship build.
Your treatment of the finer details and finish give the impression of a much larger scale. Again, congrats on this extremely well done example of the Haruna.
regards,
Jack
Wow, she looks great Allan, God only knows I'd have found some way to screw up all that masking and PE- don't know how you ship modelers do it. You just need a blue mat to set her on!
Edit: Just posted you the front page.
WOW, that really turned out great Allan And ditto what PJ said.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

That looks outstanding, exceptional paint and details. You could have fooled me as the real one with the 3rd picture if you photoshop the background.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Aaaand she's done. Quite pleased at my pace these days. Normally it takes me a couple of months to finish even a simple build. More than anything, Im quite pleased to have started a kit a couple of weeks after I bought it and finished it weeks later. Havent done that in ages.
So here she is, the JS Haruna.
Comments most welcome.
Thanks Allan, will be getting back to it soon, have a couple others going.
Sim,
The Alf's shaping up really well. Looking forward to seeing it completed.
simpilot34 Exactly! To me, you can't build a biplane and not rig it, just does not look right at all. Built a 1/72 Swordfish back in 2008 and someone asked if I was going to rig it, I said of course I am, can't have a stringbag without the strings can ya?

Yeah, without strings it's just a bag...
simpilot34 Gamera SP34: that does look really good. Good luck with getting all those struts and spars straight. Thanks Gam, but the strut allignment to me wont be that much of an issue when you consider that I'm also going to fully rig it.

Oh wow, I've only rigged one plane so far and it was pretty simple. Lotta work but the results look fantastic!
I have Eagles nesting by the St Johns River not far here in Central Florida. Once in s while one wanders over my hood.
We also have a pair of large Hawks that nest in the tree line near my house. They both frequent my backyard looking for meal, specially early in the morning.
I think we have some eagles off the coast but I've never seen one in real life. We used to have a hawk at work until the crows ran him off. I can imagine how majestic an eagle in flight would look.
LOL don't worry GAM I've had to stop and do the same lol. Yes, Eagles are a sight to see in flight. When I was still living at mom and dads in Arkansas, one early winter's day watched one soaring probably 100 feet up not far away heading south, as I was watching it, it dipped a wing and turned into a fairly strong thermal and just silently circled. Didn't realise how high and smaller it was getting till it straightened out and dissapeared over the 1500 foot mountain that was to the south of us. The most amazing thing to me was, that from the time my brother and I saw it till it dissappeared over the mountain, it didn't flap once. That is true airmanship lol.
Ok, back on the subject lol. I retrieved my E7K today and this is how I left it since the last small stint of construction. Tamiya rattle can gray primer, struts mostly painted When I had her on the bench last time, I did a trial fit of the float struts and to the floats. Think it's going to take little finesse to get the struts to fit the floats right. Hopefully not too much work.
PJ,
The detail is outstanding. I am very impressed with the kit. If you can find it HL with a 40% off coupon, you wouldn't be sorry.
LOL Gamera, I suspected our Avatars threw you off. I just love Eagles. they are so majestic and awesome looking. I saw them fishing when the wife and I took an Alaskan cruise and it's a sight to see.
Thanks Steve. This Tamiya Seiran is a pretty kool kit and just goes together like a glove.
I have seen the Mariner in HL and thought about getting one and wondered about the details but it seems to be a very nice kit as I can see from your build. And of course your water effects will make it that much better.
Oh I love both of them, I just need to slow down and pay more attention
Actually I took this photo on vacation last week at a museum of parade floats and was wondering if I could make it an avatar or it would be too small to see the P-51.
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My apologies Modelcrazy and Plasticjunkie, I think it's that your avatars look so much alike when I see the eagle and Stars and Stripes I want to type Steve...
I am now going off to commit hari-kiri with an X-Excto knife...
Another great looking piece of art PJ.
WOW PJ that looks great!! I too am looking forward to that unusual scheme!
Thanks Gam, yeah I know what you mean.
Wow she looks great PJ. I use a lot of the Eduard seatbelts but I've never got them to drape anywhere near as well as yours. Looking forward to your unusual paint scheme.
Edited because I am an idiot...
simpilot34 Thank you very much GAM!! Yes, am doing well thanks, had some ups and downs since part IV but all in all i'm doing well.

That's great to hear. I was thinking the other day that there's a lot of people around that just seemed to drop off the site for no reason as far as I can tell. I guess there's always some sort of life issues but it seems to be so many recently.
Thanks Gents for the comments. Lots of great modeling going on here!
Allan
Your ship looks amazing. Fantastic work.
Tony
I cry every time I see a Jake!
S34
Looking very good.
Got the pit all dolled up. I first did some dry brushing with flat aluminum then dry brushed red oxide primer so the foot traffic areas have the worn look then shot Testors Flat clear lacquer. I also added some Eduard IJN pe belts.
The rear IP got the same treatment as the front one. The MG was very lightly dry brushed silver just to pop some of the molded details. Tamiya's quality really shines bright!
Another view of the office before being closed up.
Got the fuselage and wings on. The line you see on top and bottom where the halves meet is paint that has melted along with the plastic when I apply Tenax with a touch and flow applicator. Those areas were painted and the thin liquid cements melts the plastic and becomes an invisible join after sanding the ridge of plastic that squeezes out. No filler needed.
Again, amazing fit, no gaps or mis alignment. It's getting close to my favorite part which is the painting stage and I have a very unusual scheme for this Seiran that looks ultra cool. More on that later.
