BK: Nice work, that's some of the sharpest masking I've seen in some time. I always get some overspray or paint creeping under the mask somewhere. 

Wayne: She's looking good! I have to agree with Steve there that's a pretty diverse selection- is that a Messersnitzel and a camel??? 

FREDDIE that turned out really well. i like the streaking on the wings.

some work on recon vehicle, all the big pieces are on the hull so now i can add all the grab handles. i don't like the thin acetate for the vision blocks so i have to cut some thicker plastic. the hull is no problem as i can paint the base coat separately, tack them on to do camo and remove them to do lenses. i may be able to do that with the turret top and add the lenses then add the bottom and some touch up. annoying but will be worth the effort.

Well, I got most of the major painting completed on the Raiden today. Only have the landing gear and prop left plus the antenna. When that's done I'll get the decals down and on to final assembly.

She turned out great Freddie! I think I said the streaking on the wings looks really neat. And I think one of the issues of those Nichimo kits is the lack of interior detail, the resin parts really help there.

Okay Folks,

I'm calling this one finished!  Nichimo kit, 1:48 scale and I had to do a few things like add a cockpit and wheel well sets, because the kit was just too empty.  I used the only sets available for this model, made by Lone Star Models, and they were tough to get in.  Lots of extra work.  They look pretty good once inside though, inspite of how much a pain in my rump they were.

In addition to the aforementioned Lone Star products, I used Aeromaster decals, True Details wheels, scratch built the rear MG, and landing gear retraction links, which I'm not sure they are accurate, but they look the part.  I also cut back the kit's canopy so you could see all the interior. 

Anyway, here are the pictures, and now it's on to the Hasegawa, Ki-100, "Tony"

PS.  Model represents a Ki-45, flown by Lt. Totaro Ito, 5th Sentai, 1st Chutai, Kiyosu AB, Japan in November 1944.

Thank you Gents. Not impressed with the fit of the cockpit so still need to do some cleaning but it's now on.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I have been missing for a bit.  Life happens and model building gets pushed to the side.  Anyway, I have a couple update pictures of the "Nick" which is coming along pretty nicely.  I still have to wrestle with the landing gear retraction rods, but I have nmanaged to get her sitting on her "feet", so to speak, and get her ready to be weathered.  I have to build her rear defensive weapon, and add the fiddly bits, and I can call her done.  In the meantime, I have started on the Ki-100, "Tony" and have the cockpit painted.  I'll post those pictures after I'm finished with "Nick" here.

PS.  I put the props on for posterity, the model just looks better with them on.  I'll be removing them for the weathering, plus I have to add the yellow caution stripes and beat them up too!

Glad you like it, though frankly only Godzilla and the Zero were my idea, Rock and Jack did all the heavy lifting.
