2016 OTS (1/72) SMALL IS BIG

Terry, that dio is incredible! Very well done sir! I personallly think there were not enough pics myself.

Been having a tough time getting to my little project. There've been too many other projects I'm trying to get done first but I hope to get more done on this soon. Stay tuned for more.

Things have got busy here at the homestead, as they always do with warmer weather, but I've got a flat coat in place on the Ms406 and it's waiting for pastel weathering to begin. So close!

Hunter, Wayne thank you for those generous comments, these are so much fun to do and my biggest challenge to date will be a T Rex dio I have in mind. If that one works out I would be amazed but i'm trying something new (at least to me). 

Wayne I do use hydrocal 90% of the time in Woodland Scenic molds, then plaster cloth to bring it all together. I've used different paints but I think the best paint out there is from Woodland Scenic. Theres so much pigment in it and the colors blend nicely. In this past year i've had some medical issues and I just couldn't get in the right frame of mind to build, so I understand what its like but it'll pass. What always helps me back to the bench is trying different things, space crafts, a 70 ton tank the size of a golf ball and even a dinosaur so i'd like to thank you for those things.

i too like all the pics. on dioramas like this you need different angles to see the work and a pic or 2 from the "soldier on the ground" level is always cool.

i know i asked before but what do you use for rock? i use hydrocal and molds whhich start out white than various WOODLAND SCENES paints. Only problem with hydrocal is it can get damaged easily.

i have hit the wall on everything but it will pass.

Thanks guys. Looking back on this one, I think one of my favorite parts is the MC rider who is getting stuck and is working through the soft dirt.

Wayne heres my German 8 Rad and diorama. It measure roughly 10" X 10" and i've included a transport vehicle, a lead motorcycle and a US spotter. Please wxcuse the multiple shots but I ddn't know how to cover the entire board.

I started on the A-37.  right off the bat I like the Academy kit over this Hasegawa.  Guess it's new verses old.

The decals on this kit were really nice to work with.  Thin and reacted very nicely with micro set/sol.  A big difference from the last few kits I've worked on.

IMO the panel lines on the fuselage were fairly deep and a bit out of scale.  Looking at it finished I probably should have gone a bit lighter on them or tried a different technique.  

Here I am being too self critical... 

...Anyway, I'm really liking Airfix new tooled kits and this one went together nicely.

Your A-4 really turned out great Krusty. The weathering looks great and I agree with Terry about the panel lines.

So cool, just loves the lines. It looks like a clean build and the panel lines make it pop.

Well, I'm gonna call her done!  

Overall I'm pretty happy with this build.  Had a few "Happy little accidents" and would do some things a little differently were I to build her again, but overall a nice little kit!

Next up is a wash, give her legs, attach all the doodads and gizmos, and somehow manage to not break anything off...   Wish me luck!

Krusty, that Scooter is looking great! I know how you feel; I'm always breaking off long parts all the time. I always put them on last because of that.

68GT, good luck with that model. I started one a long time ago and never finished it. After I closed up the fuselage with the cockpit inside, I tried to put the canopy on. It wouldn't fit on account of the cockpit seats sitting way too high. You'll have to pose this one with the canopy opened.

I have this A-37 I was just going to get started once I get an A-7E out of the way.

This kit is going to take some work. The engines don’t have any locating pins and don’t match up very well. The seams will take some work and filling and will result in the loss of raised detail, but it’s not the first.

Love to see one of your helos Wayne. I will be updating the P-40 pic as soon as I can get new decals.

been off the grid for a few days.

nice work everybody. i think the roster is now current. may get base coat on MCV on sunday. been working on a 1/35 S-tank (103C with a B and both in OTS in the pile). trying a winter pattern and a snow base.

i may have to do an aeroplane after seeing the builds here. i have a BV-138 and a whole mess of helos.
