Bish

Now that a nice idea Justin. I plan on Ep IV being a bit shorter, plan is to start next Oct.

I better start collecting the necessary components now, then...huh?  Lol

And so it was!

Sounds like a cool idea, someone here was building a Death Star interior from RotJ but that was probably over a year ago- I don't think he's posted since then.

so, after showing off my Dambusters raid in progress dio (which can be seen in the RAF group build) on facebook,  it was suggested that I do a dio of an x wing running in the channel of the deathstar....which, coincidentally,  George Lucas used the raid from the movie Dambusters! To lay out the attack on the deathstar in episode iv....

I don't think I will make that for this episode of the group build, but quite possibly for episode iv....

Nice start, Bob! Cool that you're going to do some open panels. Looking forward to that. Propeller

Gamera

She's looking good!

I remember the AMT kits as being sorta kinda like the real thing. That Lamda class shuttle Bish did, well the cockpit was pretty friggin' awful!

Yep, your not wrong, nothing like it looked in the movies. I can see why people paint the canopy black.

OK, so I know it's been awhile but it took a lot longer to strip the paint job I did as a kid. I got it to where it's as good as it's going to get.  I've been slowly working on the cockpit. Here's the stock kit part:

Not very accurate to what you see in the movie.  I'm not going to 100% accuracy, but anything would be better than this.  I cut down the spare instrument panel from my Revell A-6E that I just finished and grafted it on.  I also removed the "seat" and will be replacing it with what I think is a WWII aircraft seat, but I couldn't tell you what kit it came from.  It was just floating around in a spares box.  Here's where I am right now:

I filled in the spaces with Perfect Plastic Putty and it looks a lot better.  You can also see the seat I'm going to be using.  I need to check some reference pictures for the side consoles to figure out what I'm going to do there.  I still need to tackle the area behind the seat, scratch-build a targeting computer, and then hit the front panel.

I didn't take a picture of this, but I cut open a panel on the bottom of the ship, and plan on opening up a panel behind one of the proton torpedo launchers and build that.  I'm also going to have one of the engines exposed, and open up the nose.  I want to get more ambitious, but I don't think it would be good for me Propeller.  After all, there's still the rest of the diorama to build.

Thanks, Gamera. Geeked

I've never done a diorama, but might be a good first subject.

Love the diorama idea, would love to see that done up!

That AT-AT looks great! Looks like it's been abused through several battles. I've only got a couple of the Bandai kits and I need to get a lot more of them.

wow, thank you for compliments, Bish! And thanks also, Crown. Big Smile

Even though this kit isn't big, was a lot of work beating it up. So guess was worth the effort.

I could simply quote the Dark Lord and say Impressive, most impressive. But that would not come close. That is just stuning. I love your weathering, i would give anything to be able to a finish like that. I much prefer that look to the nice clean brand new straight out of the factory look.

I am really going to have to put in some practice sessions.

Thank you, i'll sort those pics out tomorrow. Great builds all 3.

Wow, what a nice gift! Obviously, I need to train my kids better. :-) Hm. In any event, my son would love that prop.

OK, finally finished the AT-AT. Have I mentioned Bandai kits are awesome? :-) If they'd just make a 1/72 B-Wing, I could call my collection pretty much complete....mainly because I'm running out of room.

Anyway, this guy has seen a heavy rotation of duty on many different types of planets and environments, and met its fate/end of service on Jakku battling Alliance mop-up forces during the final throes of the Empire (before the rise of the First Order). And then...became Rey's personal dwelling.

That's how I will explain my usual heavy weathering, anyway. :-) If I were more ambitious, I'd love to make it part of a desert diorama, maybe titled "Beast of Burden," with the AT-AT walking past some type Empire or Aliance wreckage made out of leftover airplane bits from my stash.

After a break, I'll try to finish painting the SD, and then plan my approach to the Cave Angel X-Wing.

Bish--TIE and Speeder pics are at the end of this post, so you can put them on the GB home page again, per request.

Thanks for looking!

Crown, is that a kit or scratch built? If a kit, who makes it? In either case, looks fantastic!

Oh, right...PB nuked those, too. :-( No problem, I'll add a few when I post my AT-AT pics.

Lol, seems like I already have a Flickr account, but forgot about it, so that helps. Ah, the Internet. I can't keep track of it all. Good thing the NSA does it for me!

Gamera

PB, sounds cool- looking forward to seeing the photos!

BTW: Just switched over to ImageShack here. They were running a half-price sale- a little under twenty bucks US for an entire year. It's worth way more than that to get away from the zillion pop-up ads on PB...

They seemed to have timed that well. Coincidence or just good fortune.

Lol, seems to be a lot of sites taking advantage of PBs misteps!
