Eagle90

Hey everyone,

Great builds going on here.  I've already entered 2 (well, my daughter and I) builds for this GB, but I'm knocking the idea around of maybe adding another...or two, or three, or four!  Look what I got the other day.  Whistling.

Do you all think Lord Bish will allow this?  LOL!

O, nice little haul. Wouldlove to see that Striker.

Yes Lord Bish....The TIE Striker will be fully operational soon.  Bow Down

LOL!  Had to do it.  So yeah, put me down for the TIE Striker and I'll do at least one of the other kits.  Probably the droids.  My son is bugging the heck out of me to do those....so he can have them in his room!  Wink

That is a nice haul, local hobby shop or online? I would like to see the striker built also. The stormtrooper is a good kit. I finished mine up this past December, just deciding if I should keep him clean or dirty him up or just do something different.

Some update pics of the AT-ST, just did some chipping and put the subassemblies together. I will need to figure out what stance to put it in. The right hip joint got kind of loose during handling so I am going to need to glue it in place.

I am using pigments to continue the weathering and  I will show images of that as it gets done. I do not think I have much left to do on this kit.

Agreed, looking really good, Stephan. Chipping adds just the right amount of wear and tear. Propeller

Man, that last photo--you can see the level of amazing detail Bandai puts into their kits. Now you've got me thinking I need an AT-ST. Aaaaagh, stop the madness.

Thanks guys, this is pretty close to being done now. I hope to have the beauty shots ready by this weekend.

The detail on this kit is outstanding. Then again, I have a few Bandai kits now and they are all very well detailed. I don't think you can go wrong getting this kit especially when you consider the other options that are out there currently. Confused

I think the only thing that will match that is if Dragon does do a 35th one.

Wow that's some awesome stuff guys!!!

Stephan, are you going to do a skull face on the AT-ST? Your markings looks kinda like that to me, it would be pretty friggin' cool!

BTW: The wi-fi seems a little better tonight. Not sure why. It took me about 45 mins to watch a 15 min video on YouTube the other night. Walk off and just let it load in the buffer...

I've been touring around Colonial Williamsburg. They're really playing up the American Revolution thing now. I'd buy you a ticket Bish if you come off if you'd just walk up and down the street in a red coat screaming TREASON at random people. Wink

What?! 9 days without a post? I feel as if I have let you all down. To top it off I have nothing to report on. I am making a base for the walker, which is all done, but the celluclay warped the wood pretty bad. I guess I did not seal it well enough, so today I am going to try straightening it out. At least when I get home from work. We will see, might be easier to start over.

Ha, no worries, Bish. I am going to finish the Speeder today, and hope to post pics of her, plans fo next SW build, and a couple other other goodies.

Stinks re: the walker base. :-( What is celluclay?

Sounds cool Stephan!

PB, it's sorta like pre-packaged paper-mache. Stephan could probably explain better than me though.

I did work on the power switch on my A-Wing Friday. I cemented it in place with epoxy, which I found Sat morning had leaked into the switch gumming it up. So off to the local Radio Shack to pick up another- then found out that they'd closed this francise too. I really hate to pay a couple bucks shipping for a ninty-nine cent part, so we'll see how that goes... Sad

 @gamera:

Build gremlins attack again! Hope this doesn't jinx my build, I'm soooo close to finishing. :-) Hope you can post some pics soon of the lighting...?

Good ole Radio Shack, we hardly knew ye. I'll miss the one in my neighborhood.

Ah, paper-mache. Bish must be using it to sculpt some snow.

Sorry guys, been a bit distracted last week or so, so cheers for the bump up Stephan.

PB, i use celluclay all the time for my bases. It is like an instant paper mache. Though i prefer it to the more generic stuff.

G, that don't sound good.  I know what you mean about haveing to go on line for juts a small part.

OK, snowspeeder done! And your build gremlins DID jinx me--discovered a fit issue I missed (completely my fault). :-) Nothing critical, just annoying.

Will try to post a bunch of pics tonight.

Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's builds!

OK, calling the Snowspeeder done. Propeller Another awesome Bandai SW offering--I can't praise the level detail, fit, and plastic quality of their Star Wars line enough.

As mentioned per previous post, one goof--I didn't fit the rear panel correctly, and as a result there was a gap between the fuselage and the rear air brakes. I just slapped in some evergreen rods in the gaps, painted, and called it done. Mostly my fault, but because Bandai kits are designed to be snapped together without glue, a lot of parts have a very precise, tight fit, which paradoxically can be problematic if you're used to models with poor engineering/fit (god knows I am). You just have to trust what Bandai is doing lol. LUKE! ....LET GO....

And, yeah, it's silly to have the speeder in flying configuration with no pilots. However, in my defense, Bandai's figures are kinda out of proportion and I'm no good at painting humans so... Whistling\

In any event, sorry for the ton of pics (stick with it, a few goodies at the end).

Thanks for looking!

PB

Rogues' Gallery....

Up next...this beast, Zvezda's SD. I've never painted a model this size, so this will be purely an exercise in painting. I have no idea how I'm going to approach, but I bought two with the intention of just having fun and experimenting with the first, and trying to light the second (which I've never done):

And these two arrived today...

Detail and molding looks even more impressive in person!

...and finally, this beast (note pen on box for scale):

And got this book last week. It's been great inspiration:

Amazing job the speeder PB. I love the worn weathering, perfectly done. I hope i can half as well as that. Thnaks for shareing that with us.

Looking forward to the SD, i have put off getting one for now as i am holding out for the Dragon AT-AT, but i might try and pick one up later so will be keen to see how that goes.

Your getting an impressive collection there.

PB, I see that your skills are complete, now, let go fo your anger and embrace the Star Destroyer. Only then will you know the full power of model building. Bwaahahahaha.

Seriously though, that is one sweet looking speeder. I have to echo (base) Bishes weathering comment it looks perfect, like it came out of the movies and landed on your shelf.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Big Smile The peeps in this GB make me try my best.

Lol, Gamera--I think that smell is me, not Tauntaun guts? :-)

Anyway, when I build, that's what I'm going for--want these SW kits to look like they came straight from the old Lucasfilm modelmaking shops back in the Seventies and Eighties, so I'm really happy you guys think the speeder looks the part.

I won't let the SD intimidate me! At least the assembly should be pretty quick and straightforward.....hm.

Guys, just a bit bit of advanced warning. It has just come to my attention that Star wars Ep IX will be released in May 2019. And as planned, i will be running another GB in the lead up to it.

But, i would like a couple of months break. There has not been a time when i have not been hosting at least one GB since 2010. My RAF GB ends next April, so i will kick off the Ep IV Gb at the start of July. That give me 3 months off and still means the GB will run for jst short of 11 months.
