Thanks, guys! I've finally had some bench time the past few days and made it over the hump. Yes The AT-AT is deceptively hard to weather because of the small scale so had to just keep experimenting and not get bogged down.

In any event, should be able to finish within a week....I hope!

I'm finally ready to start on my kit for this GB.  I'm rebuilding an AMT X-Wing that I built as a kid.  My plan is to build it as Blue Leader's mount from Rogue One.  I want to put it in a diorama undergoing some maintenance at the Yavin Base in an homage to a Hoth diorama my dad built that was featured on the cover of Scale Modeler back in the 80s.  Here's what I'm starting with:

I also have most of a spare kit to work from so I won't be afraid to mess up too much, or get to bold with cutting panels open:

I'd also like to scratch up some droids like a gonk or a treadwell.  Wish me luck.

Wow, Bob, that's cool! Your dad must have some modeling skills. Runs in the family? ;-) And that sounds like an awesome project. Can't wait to see you get started. Propeller

Your pics (especially that clear "explosion" base), brings back memories of my dad, too. He "helped" me build the same kit back in the 80s, as well. Unfortunately, the X-Wing was lost and/or destroyed years ago by the grinding wheels of time, but he still has photos of it somewhere in all of its unpainted glory.

So, yeah, I'm all in for this one! Good luck!

Bob: Ohhhhhhhh, looks cool!!!

BTW: West End Games used to make a line of SW gaming figures that were 28mm- which scales out to very close to 1/48th. I've seen people use them as ground crew etc. Only they're been out of production for years. They is usually some on Ebay or Noble Knight Games website and droids aren't usually that popular so you might be able to find a few at a decent price.

http://www.nobleknight.com/ViewProdLine.asp_Q_ManufacturerID_E_17_A_CategoryID_E_5_A_GenreID_E_0

The current line of plastic figures from WotC are a bit bigger- somewhere around 32mm which I'm not sure what that scales out to- probably 1/40th or so.

PS: Looked at Ebay and there's a listing for a set of droids and Jedi knights (two packs). The droid set has a Gonk power droid, Imperial protocal droid, and a R5D4. The guy is asking $36.00 though. Maybe he'd be willing to split them up???

Thanks for the info Gamera, I looked into them and they are a little too much money for me...I'll do some digging around though. Right now I'm looking for things to make some different heads out of for astromechs. I have 3 or 4 of them floating around, and some different heads would add to the visual interest.

Oops! Sorry, Bob, I thought Bish posted about the X-Wing, but I see this is your project. My apologies. :-( What I get for responding at 12am.

No worries, I thought you were talking to me but I wasn't sure ;). My dad's article was in the upper right corner of the cover with a story on the inside. His diorama was Red 2 undergoing maintenance. Unfortunately, his diorama is no longer intact, although he still has all the parts. Someday he'll get around to restoring it. Next time I'm in town I'll snag some pictures the magazine.

Hey Bob, no worries, just throwing some ideas your way. Looking forward to seeing how you do this!

BTW I think I vaguely remember the article. I wish my old copies of FSM were filed instead of just thrown in boxes willy-nilly or I'd see if I could find it.

Hey, guys:

This might've been discussed elsewhere on these forums, but in case not...Photobucket has apparently changed their ToS--if you want to post links to your photos on forums like this one, you gotta pony up for an annual subscription (a-holes). I received an email notification last night and, yep, all of my linked photos now display a PB placeholder graphic. I noticed it hasn't happend to most of you, but assuming it will soon? Dunno. Regardless, I'm switching to Imgur. PB can burn.

In any event, I'm REALLY close to finishing the AT-AT. Just a bit more weathering on the cockpit, paint and attach the guns, and I'm done. Maybe a few more days?

Hope everyone is well, and that those in the States have a good Fourth!

I just switched over to Flickr. I'm going to go back and replace all my pics, but I did for this one since it's my current build.

Yeah, I might have to give Flickr a try. I've also used imgur, but someone in Another Forum posted a disturbing part of their ToS which seems to indicate if you post links in a forum to your imgur pics, they'll murder your family (including all pets) then nuke your neighborhood from orbit.

ANYWAY, finally finished the AT-AT. After I get this image hosting mess sorted out and find some time, I'll post pics. Propeller

PB, sounds cool- looking forward to seeing the photos!

BTW: Just switched over to ImageShack here. They were running a half-price sale- a little under twenty bucks US for an entire year. It's worth way more than that to get away from the zillion pop-up ads on PB...

Oh, right...PB nuked those, too. :-( No problem, I'll add a few when I post my AT-AT pics.

Lol, seems like I already have a Flickr account, but forgot about it, so that helps. Ah, the Internet. I can't keep track of it all. Good thing the NSA does it for me!

Crown, is that a kit or scratch built? If a kit, who makes it? In either case, looks fantastic!

OK, finally finished the AT-AT. Have I mentioned Bandai kits are awesome? :-) If they'd just make a 1/72 B-Wing, I could call my collection pretty much complete....mainly because I'm running out of room.

Anyway, this guy has seen a heavy rotation of duty on many different types of planets and environments, and met its fate/end of service on Jakku battling Alliance mop-up forces during the final throes of the Empire (before the rise of the First Order). And then...became Rey's personal dwelling.

That's how I will explain my usual heavy weathering, anyway. :-) If I were more ambitious, I'd love to make it part of a desert diorama, maybe titled "Beast of Burden," with the AT-AT walking past some type Empire or Aliance wreckage made out of leftover airplane bits from my stash.

After a break, I'll try to finish painting the SD, and then plan my approach to the Cave Angel X-Wing.

Bish--TIE and Speeder pics are at the end of this post, so you can put them on the GB home page again, per request.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, what a nice gift! Obviously, I need to train my kids better. :-) Hm. In any event, my son would love that prop.

I could simply quote the Dark Lord and say Impressive, most impressive. But that would not come close. That is just stuning. I love your weathering, i would give anything to be able to a finish like that. I much prefer that look to the nice clean brand new straight out of the factory look.

I am really going to have to put in some practice sessions.

Thank you, i'll sort those pics out tomorrow. Great builds all 3.
