Yep, same here. I wish I would have waited before getting the Annigrand SD. Oh, well maybe I could do a box or build comparison.

Okay, after thinking about this, I have decided to go with the 1/48 Tri-fighter (aka TIE Defender). This kit was mastered by Alfred Wong and kitted by Bluemoon. So Bish if you don't mind putting me down for this. If things go well I am sure I will do something else.

Will do Stephan, looking forward to that.

Iam not sure if i was misreading things earlier this year or if the release date for Rouge One has been brought forward a day. But either way, the movie is being released on Thurs, the 15th, so the GB comes forward one day.

Hey guys, not to be a troublemaker but Zvesda has just released a 24" Star Destroyer.  No in-scale Blockade Runner or Falcon in the box (you know Bandai would have), but hey it's a serious ISD kit.  Every Imperial Household should have one.  Prices are all over the place on auction sites, from around $100 to $150, but if you are serious about imposing Imperial rule and spreading fear across the galaxy...

Is it finally out, saw a post on it last month. I believe Revell are meant to be re-boxing it for wider release. I don't think i will hasve one for this GB, but i hope someone does.

I'm waiting for the Revell release too. And when it does, I will be pulling the trigger!

Ditto And i think we might have a couple of these for the Ep IV GB, i will be saving mine till then.

Wow that Star Destroyer sounds awesome, that makes it about twice the size of the vintage kit?

Good luck to you guys that joined the FSM one month build. I considered it but I'm not sure I can even finish something as simple as this little A-Wing in a month...

There is not an awful lot to the shuttle, i bad reckoned on it being a 3 week build,so that was perfect for the FSM Build. And starting on New Years day,i shoulkd be able to get a lot done. The Mrs is working and sleeping out over night, so all being well i can pull an all day session.

Bruce, i was just doing some searching and came across a site with a link to a German store which is listing a Revell 1/2670 SD for release in April. The Zvezda is listed as 1/2700 but it has to be the same kit. Their price is 90Euro's.

Berlinger Zinnfigeren store? I see its a pre-order on their website. We'll see once it comes out if the price goes up or down.

Gamera, the Zvesda kit is around 1.5x the MPC kit (24" versus 16").  It does not sound like a lot, but the volume is 1.5x1.5x1.5 (3.375) bigger.

My fastest build as an adult was a Fine Molds TIE Fighter, which took 7 days.  It was straight OOTB, with the exception of me angrily scraping all the raised lettering off the stand base.  For some reason I found the "Star Wars" and "TM" made me angry.  Which led to fear and hatred, which in turn paved the way to the Dark Side of modeling.  Now I mostly build stupid limited run kits.  Strong is the Dark Side; beware its power lest you be tempted by it.  Consume you it will.

Thanks G, I forgot how big the MPC kit was. I did have one but of course that was a few decades ago!

Not sure when I'll get started. I may do a little this weekend, we'll have to see. I've got some small red LEDs and am thinking of sticking them in the fighter's engines.

I will be starting on January 1st with the TIE fighter. I did open the box last night and wow its a nicely detailed kit. Very few parts. And the PE should make a very nice addition.

I also stumbled across an old MPC A-wing fighter kit. If I finish the Vader TIE, I may slap this old thing together too.

Go ahead and throw my name on  the list....I hate joining these things because something always comes up and I never finish, but, my son won a millennium falcon model by selling a boat load of popcorn with his cub scout pack, and he will be having me show him how to build that, so I know I will finish.  I'm not sure of the kit, as he will recieve it at the January pack meeting...I will update!

Also, I just ordered the old MPC Return of the Jedi speeder bike (I've wanted one 9f those since I was a kid!!!), so there is a good chance that will get built as well....

Will add you to the list Justin. I have built that old Speeder Bike, its one of my few old ones to have survived. And i have 2 more this time to hopefully do a better job on. The only issue with the kit is the stand, which is to flimsy.

Maybe I should have joined the one month build, I pulled out the Bandai A-Wing last night intending to just fiddle with it a little bit. And ended up with the thing about half-built.

I stopped because I needed to airbrush the cockpit before assembling the top of the fighter. I got that today and am going to drybrush the thing now.

Went out today to visit our local Radio Shack and grabbed some LEDs and watch batteries. I'm going to see if I can get the engines and cockpit lighted.

Love to see those old MPC kits guys. Even back then I was more of a Trek guy and only bought the Star Destroyer and TiE Interceptor kits.

Anyway here's the fusilage. It's neat how they molded it in colour but I think I'll slap her together, mask, and then paint the maroon areas. There's some black overspray where blacked out the area under the cockpit.

My electronic parts. We'll see how it goes.

I would like to join this GB, with this Revell U-Wing kit.  It's a snap-tight kit, but it's the only kit out there for this cool ship.  I'm expecting I will be gutting it and scratchbuilding quite a few details, and adding some lights.  Possibly a diorama.

A humble entry, but if I finish early, I may build another kit for the rest of the GB.

Bish: Thanks and no worries!

IL2WH: Ohhhh cool! Funny, I didn't like that look of the U-Wing till I saw it in action as it were in Rogue One and now think it's a very cool design. Neat mobile wing and it seems kinda like the SW version of a V-22 Osprey. Something that you'd need but there was never really a place for in the original series.

News just coming through on the BBC. carrie Fisher has passed away several days after suffering a cardiac arrest. Even for an Imperialist like me, this is a sad day.

RIP Carrie.

Made a start on the shuttle last night. And seeing as the Mrs has been at work all day, i have had a good bit of bench time today.

I started with the pit, only 2 parts. Got those together last night, then today i got it primed, sprayed and started painting in the details. I have done the consuls, so next will be dials, switches, gauges and screens and then a pin wash and light weathering.

And today i also got the bosdy and lower wings together. Not all that many parts, but quite a bit to do. Lots of flash on this, must be my time for it, the Revell U-Boat i was working on last week had a lot of flash as well.

Before i go any further i wil spend some time cleaning up the seams.

Thats all for now, more soon.

Looks like a great start Bish! The build looks to go pretty quickly. I have this kit in the stash so I'm pretty excited to see you build it.

Thanks Bob. ye, it can be built pretty quickly. Its needs quite a bit of sanding to get parts to fit right, and the seams alng the side and the back will need some cleaning up. But looks pretty good and its a good size as well.

Not surprised by the flash on a MPC kit but the fit looks pretty good. As usual nice work there Bish.
